...under my porch. It has that horrible carcass smell.
It's not a raised porch, it only has maybe an inch clearance above the foundation. A mouse? A snake?
I wish I could pull the thing out, but I can't. The wooden boards are secured in place by many, many nails. I'm not even sure where the smell's coming from, exactly.
Whatever it is, how do I get rid of the smell? I could pour something down there, but I don't know what to use.
Help? Suggestions?
Thanks!

The smell will "eventually" go away, after nature takes over, but it might help to pour water on it so that the "biodegradeable" material can seep into the ground. I'd give it about five days or so for the smell to go entirely away.
(I once had a smell like that in my car, and I could've sworn a rat or something had crawled into my car and died. It turned out it was a 5 lb. bag of red potatoes that I forgot to bring in from the grocery store. It had sat there for a week in the hot Texas sun.)
Good luck!

Oooohhh!!! Rotten potatoes are one of the worst smells! As for helping with the smell... a whole lot of bleach might help a bit, but might not be real environmentally friendly... but ya know...

Well, there's concrete under there. Nothing's going back to the soil....
I smoke out there several times a day, so, OMG I hope it goes away soon!

We get dead mice up in our dropped ceiling sometimes....very stinky! But after a few days, they seem to dry up and the smell goes away!
I would NOT suggest adding any water....although it is just my theory that they dry up.
Once after I had cleaned quite a bit in my bedroom, and had a certain file cabinet cleaned off on top....dh was working up in the ceiling tiles. A few days later, I found a perfect mouse skeleton laying on that file cabinet. It was less than 2 feet from the end of my bed. I was very glad that I had cleaned recently, because I knew that it had not gone from mouse to skeleton in that spot!
Really gross, I know. I was FREAKED OUT, and threw it right in the trash. Later, in chat, I realized it might have been kewl to keep it to show the kids. Although...you know how kids talk. I can just hear it now....guess what my Mom found in her bedroom?!? !

quick lime will do it.... department of highways uses it around here on roadkill to dissolve all the tissue, etc. (gross, i know) i'm guessing you could get it at the feed store or hardware store and then just try to get it between the boards on your porch
