We didn't have to do a mad cleaning rush for dinner guests tonight! That's the first time ever for us. Instead, I took the time to pretty up the outside of the house - I fixed the broken front gate, painted the mailbox, wiped down the door and did some caulking on a crack (it's very old) on the outside wall that's been bothering me for 5 years. Oh, and I painted some replacement shingles on the side of the house and now you can't see the difference.
I just did the floors now and it only took a half-hour. So this is what maintenance is like.
OK - a small cheat. "We are working on" the basement so it's unavailable. But the living areas, bedrooms and bathrooms and yard are free for the kids to run around as they will.

awesome - this is a goal I am getting to nearer each moment - it sure does feel good- I could have some company come now as long as they did not stay too long--

Yes, this is what maintenance is about. You will find you have time to take care of the "things that bother you" for yourself, not just for company, too.

Awesome, Ruby! There's no feeling like knowing you don't have to go a mile a minute anymore.

When our company left last night, we automatically cleaned up the food and stuff. The house is nice and clean this morning and I can start caulking the sidewalk! This repair stuff is addicting.

Wish we could say that! We just have some clutter but nothing major.
My husband's brother's wife keeps things so neat and spotless, everything in its place...wish I was like her!
