alrighty then, here is where I need advice. Why I am blocked about desqualoring my bedroom?I have been fairly sailing through the rest of the house, but never ever can get my bed room a sanctuary.
This has been a ongoing problem since childhood.
I have a hunch I think I am not worthy,or do not deserve it.
Is it because I have always lived in teeny tiny bed rooms? Maybe people in large bed rooms w/master baths just have more space to clutter and another to clean
Tomorrow is Sunday,I am going to devote the day to JUST cleaning my bedroom.Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated. Thankyou ahead of time.GG
P.S: I live in a 1950's era ranch house:2 bedrooms,1den, 1bathroom,kitchen,living room/dining room combo, large unfinished leaky basement, attic w/ pull down stairs, garage, leaking rotting sunroom attached to house&garage, unuseable (except to fill w/ crap!!) has actual moss growing on cement floor.
This house once held 7 of us,down to 5,3girls in original master bedroom,me in small bedroom, divorcing husband in den on pull out couch (comfy,eh?).My little doggy and I are very happy in our Sealy Posterpedic Queen size bed.Hah!

Georgie, When I decluttered, I got stuck on my bedroom too. There is always the problem of too many clothes, but I had two problems that together created a perfect storm. 1. I treated my bedroom as a gadget drawer--anything that didn't really have a specific place to belong ended up in that room. 2. At the same time, I saw a bedroom's set up as fixed and immutable. A bedroom has a bed, dresser, closet with a rod, and a dresser. So I was bringing things in and refusing to change the room into the proper room to hold those things. I solved this, honestly, by getting rid of a LOT of things, and by deciding that I would purposely devote a lot of room to books. I have a bookcase, a row of "library" magazine containers made of cardboard but covered with a pretty pattern for my 1930's women's magazines, and I found a big sturdy willow basket to go under the arm chair (for library books). and bigger, flatter baskets to slide under both sides of the bed to hold things being read now, new purchases, etc. I also threw out/donated enough clothes that I could free up dresser drawers for what would be in a desk if I had one--someday I will get one I'll bet your little doggie thinks she is the queen of the world already on that Sealy Posturpedic!

After my divorce, I painted my bedroom pink. Not that I particularly loved pink, but just because I COULD. I later painted the platform bed turquoise! That was my way of claiming my bedroom for myself.
I have the entire house to myself, but I also have too much stuff in the bedroom.
How about being more specific about what you would like your bedroom to look like? Do you have any sort of decorating scheme in mind for the future? What would you like to do in your personal haven?
