www.abc.net.au/unleashed/stories/s2276042.htmThis is on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation website (our public broadcaster). I also chuckled too at some of the comments people posted there. A really light-hearted look at collecting stuff from garage sales, hard-waste collections and on-line auctions. This is exactly what I am like. (But I am getting better at not taking stuff home!)

That was entertaining. I found myself agreeing completely with the person who said they'd chuck more out/ give more away if they knew it would be used. This is the crux of my hoarding problem. Seriously. I just went up to my attic allotment and noticed stuff thats been there for a decade unused and still i cannot get rid of it: cross-country skis, tennis rackets, pretty cover baskets for big size potted plants, a hammock needing a bit of repair, a boccia game, a feather boa, even bell-bottoms from 1975. I keep thinking MAYBE we'll use that all again someday, or someone will want this/need this. Of course i can try to sell on ebay or the like, but i have yet to find the block of time to organize it all (take fotos etc) There is no shop in my city, that i know of who will do the selling for me. So it is one person's junk is another person's treasure or...... is it the other way around too when we won't let it go?

This reminded me sooooo much of myself! Except that I never got a printer or scanner, and only sold stuff on ebay via a seller, and had to pay them a percentage of my profits. I sold a beanie baby purple bear (One of the first ever made, mint in pkg.) for $2,100 when Beanies were really hot. I paid $5.00 for it brand new a few years back. I also sold a cracked Roseville pottery vase for $68.00 that I had paid $8.00 for the week before. (If it wasn't cracked, I would have made $200.00.) I wish I knew about ebay in the early 90's before I moved from the country. My house was LOADED with antiques, collectables, and sellable stuff. I went to yard sales, auctions, and flea markets regularly, and could have made a small fortune! However, I'm happy that what I did sell paid for my first move, and paid for part of my second move as well. I rarely go to yard sales anymore, and haven't been to an auction in 15-18 years. (With no temptation, there's less stuff to deal with.) 3g is me
