www.nationalsqualorconference.com.au/ I can't believe the prices to go in! Some of the info I have read regarding the conference, was because there was a large amount of elderly people, who were isolated living in squalor and then this conference is coming about because of it. It's in the early stages, and they are still planning it.

Wow, thanks for that FL! Unfortunately, that's about what I paid to attend a conference earlier this month.... it's painful, isn't it? And I love love love Norman Swan.... Mmmm....

It looks like it's going to be great and geared toward the professional community.
Yes, the prices seem steep to a personal individual, but for a professional conference, only the meal looks steep to me. The actual registration fee looks pretty standard, I think.
What I don't see is anything like Continuing Education Units being offered. But maybe that's not the standard in Australia, as it is here in the US. CE's are required for many professionals here to renew their licenses, so conferences such as these usually offer them, within the US.

On second thought I realised my conference was for 4 days, including several events such as drinks at an opening reception, etc. But as Eagle says, it's probably right for a professional community gathering, especially since they are using a conference centre (rather than a university or somewhere less expensive). Eagle, it's interesting, over here we don't have continuing education required for whatever professional licences people may have - we're encouraged to do continuing professional development but it's not a requirement. And the conference dinner I *didn't* go to was $100!! I had $10 Indonesian food with some friends instead!
