I have had to unsubscribe from freecycle.I am driving all over the countryside & using gas to pick up piddly items because they sound "good".Like it some kind of treasure hunt.It is part of my sickness, no,no,no more.Stuff needs to go out,not in.Just needed to acknowledge this fact.Thank you.GG

GG - This is interesting. I am on the other end of the freecycle spectrum - giving away. And, very appreciative of the folks who drive to my house to take away stuff.
Do you have any advice on how to identify someone who is addicted or overly involved with picking up items offered for free? I try to steer away from email responses that sound too businesslike or those who respond to almost all my OFFER posts. Those persons, I feel, are resellers.
Are you one of the persons who literally respond within 1-2 minutes of an item going on the board? I sometimes wonder if people are just sitting on their computer watching for the posts to appear so they can jump on them. It first, these were the people I was contacting back right away. Lately I have been waiting until several emails come in and then I pick and chose who sounds "legitimate".
I would appreciate knowing how to avoid contributing to your problem. Freecycle is a wonderful concept but, like many things in life, there is a downside, it seems, for some.

GJ GG--when someone recommended Freecycle to me this was one of the reasons I wasn't enthused.
