Just a question: What will happen to chat? Can we do that on this site, is another site being set up, or is that on the back burner until the boards are situated? Carolinastomper

I don't adapt to change well. But I DO like this chat better than the old... especially the larger/smaller fonts, and the option to undock the window.

HELP! I tried to go to chat but Windows Explorer tells me it doesn't recognize the author or something and won't let me open the chat, which is a Java chat window. Can someone help me with this? Thanks!

Rennie- I had issues with it to. It doesn't exactly fix your problem but it would let you into chat. I just ended up downloading firefox/mozilla. No matter how I changed my settings in IE it wouldn't allow the java appliation necessary. So I gave up and switched browsers to one that wasn't so cranky.

Hi Rennie - I use IE7 as my default browser. IE wouldn't allow me to download the Java plugin no matter how much I tried, citing the same reason it gave you. In the end I opened chat in Firefox and downloaded the software. Took a little while and a few fits and starts (I had to download it manually and restart it a couple of times due to error messages, but it downloaded successfully eventually.) Now that it's downloaded, I can run chat in IE7 no problems. Hope this helps

Are you writing in the right area? There's a text box to the left of a button labelled "send". Is that where you are writing your messages?

- Please help ! Underneath the place where you type in. ... there is another place to type in a google search. Even though I KNOW where to type in my words to my sister and brother chatters, I still find myself typing in the google searchbar accidentally -- quite frequently. For example, I intended to type "My floor is filthy" into the chat message area, then hit "submit" button. But .... instead, I typed into Google search area "My floor is filthy" and clicked the "search button". This bumped me out of chat and into Google ... and google actually gave me a gazillion websites that contain either the keyword filthy or the keyword floor. NOT what I had intended ! Then I had to come back to this website, find chat, and log back in. This is silly, and I know better, but I have done this quite a few times. Others in chatroom have told me this has happened to them, too. Is there some way to reposition the google searchbar? Thanks. _

unfortunately, with the version of chat that we are using (free), there isin't a whole lot i can adjust. if anyone is interested in setting up an n54 chat, and keeping up with it (i have no clue what is involved with that, i just know it was mentioned between the mods), we could switch to n54 for chat, and post the link here.

CLSS, there are two possible workarounds for that.
1. Reduce the size of your browser window so that the Google searchbar isn't visible. 2. "Float" your chat window by clicking on one of the buttons in the row with the smilie and the notes. I think it's the one with two windows in it, but I can't test it at work.
