There was a nice man showing us an apartment that we had inquired about renting. It is in the heart of downtown. The loft apartments and condos around this area rent for $2K a month and the condos cost about $400K. This place does not rent for anywhere near that amount. It is very nice with lots of storage. He showed me the linen closet and said "I hope this is enough space to store your towels and linens." I just smiled. I can usually rustle up one or two towels and a couple of washcloths but a real place to store linens... not in the floor in a heap, not under the bed, not in some corner.....Hmmmm. So when I returned home I began to look for towels and linens. I am washing them and folding them and putting them in a plastic container until I can put them in the linen closet. Wow a change to live like a real person! I can watch the Mardi Gras parade attend Dickens on the Strand in December and see the cruise ships come in and be able to find my towels and linens....Progress

I didn't realize you were in on the TX coast! Unless they have DOTS in other places... I do understand the need for spaces to store things. I don't have much room to store my stuff, but I do have storage space - it is simply filled with stuff I don't need or use so overflow goes stacked on the floor or into bins in the closet. The things I actually use or need would fit nicely in the designated spaces if I didn't have too much non-useful accumulated stuff. My goal for packing when I move in a few weeks is to cull things out so when I unpack at the new place, I will have room to store things, plus I will be able to keep up with things and have. Onward

Oh I envy your linen closet. The old bathroom had a linen closet, the new one does not, or not yet, and the landlord is draggin his heels over finishing the job. He promised me a linen closet, said he would fit it himself. So my towels are currently mostly in an IKEA sack on the countertop, some are spilled out over the counter and the floor from where we've dug into the bag to find the right towel.

Oh, nice!
I had no linen closet in my old place, and while my new place has a linen closet that's a little awkward (it's actually two cupboards above the washer/dryer, over my head), it's so much better than not having one at all!
That's great news, iguanamamma. I hope you love your new place!
