We're moving out in August and our landlords are coming over to discuss the move out etc. They live far away and we've only seen them abt. once a year for the lease renewal (which, of course, results in huge all night stash and dashes so we have a presentable "facade" to show them)
But this time, we're figuring they'll want a tour and even if by some wild stretch of the imagination they didn't, we'd have to have things pretty spic and span soon because they're going to have to start showing it to prospective renters. That means people who will want to open closets! (Cue scary music, screams of horror etc.)
So here's the good:
- Over the past 6 months we've been going through things in the house and taken I can't even count how many loads to Goodwill. So there's a lot less "stuff" then we've ever had to deal with.
- Sunday we cleaned out the garage, my sister helped. DH called a local service and they hauled away an entire truckload of junk, piled all the way up the 8 foot slats. And I mean junk - old packing paper from our move two years ago, broken toys, bbcues, you name it. So we have a clean garage!
- Monday I stayed home from work and cleaned the kitchen (not too bad because it had only slipped to 1.5ish), DHs room (also easy) and her playroom (that took a looong time, my sister helped with that too). So we have 3 clean rooms where anyone can open closets or drawers without fear.
Now the bad:
- I'm home from work today but DD getting over a cold, but she gave it to me so now I feel yucky, sore throat, achy. Not serious, just saps the energy.
- The living room isn't so bad but the dining room is horrible - pile of stuff, can only use 1/3 of the table. The entryway is a fire hazard, bathrooms are gross, the master shower is so awful I don't want to think about it. Our bedroom is not as bad as it's been, but still grimy, dusty and clothes strewn about. And the spare bedroom is our "put everything here that we can't deal with" room.
- Wednesday my DD has her ballet recital dress rehearsal and it's practically all afternoon and I still have to finish sewing the costume (and I can't sew.) So I have to miss another afternoon of work, but can't use it to clean.
- Thursday my landlords come.
So that was my pity party and now it's time to just jump in. I may not feel well, but as usual, reading posts on this board has inspired me (plus I know that my little "under the weather" thing is nothing compared to the health problems others have suffered and many of you have muscled through in shorter time frames.) So, I've taken pictures of the mess - except the garage, boy would that have been a great before and after! And I'll be posting on Listzilla and posting pictures of my progress. Hey I'll finally have some progress on my picture page! haha

Eep! Having a cold sucks, especially when it's right during a major cleaning project. Sounds like you have your work cut out for you! Best of luck! Everyone will be rooting for you.  ~Mouse |
