Hi everyone. I'm 40 and live in MI with my 13yo DD. I have lived in squalor most of the time since I was on my own at 19. I always feel so much better when my place is clean, so I am not sure why I don't keep it that way. Just one thing in a long list of self sabotaging behaviors. It'll be good to talk with others who live/have lived as I do. Maybe I can get rid of the squalor demon for good.

Glad you are joining us, Mugre. You will find a lot of very nice people here who understand what you are going through. I too love it when the house is clean, but some squalor just sneaks back in and some of my squalor simply refuses to be evicted.
However, with all the support of my S.O.S. sibs it is so much easier to keep trying and keep making progress (little by little). I bet you will you win out over your squalor!!

Welcome, Mugre. I grew up in Michigan, and my oldest daughter was born there! I moved around quite a bit as a young adult, and have resettled in the midwest again (Illinois). I hope that you will find a supportive community to be as helpful to you as I have. You and your daughter will learn new life skills that will help you regain your home, and peace of mind!
I'm glad that you found us!

Hi Mugre --
Welcome! You'll find a home and understanding folks here. You are not alone -- isn't that a great feeling? Some of us have come a long way, some are just starting out, and others, like me, take five steps forward and a couple of steps back and a tippytoe forward and then a stride forward and a slip back ... but the overall progress we have made on this forum is quite remarkable. Glad you found us!
