Rules for posting here:
____________________________________________ (1) There are no rules
(2) If you need rules, make up your own.
(3) Your rules don't apply to anyone else
(4) Some verbose people write long-winded book-like accounts (with illustrations) of their whole day. Example: Script
(5) Some folks start a list and use this as an out-of-chat challenge. Example: Pooh and others on the same time wave length in the UK
(6) Some folks actually make a LIST of things to do: imagine that! Notable example: CanDo, and her patented Listzilla (as in 'very long detailed list')
(7) Many people post in THREES: as in: "I have just done X,Y,Z. I now want to do A,B,C." This is referred to as 'Working in Threes' or WIT. Little Ninja often uses this format and likes to include "ACCOUNTABILITY" in her post. Others have taken this concept and run with it by listing what they intend to do, then listing their ta-das. This is called 'Accountability Partners'
(8) No one gives a flying fig if you join an existing thread (see rule #1: there are no rules). Tag along. Feel free to encourage. Comments from the Peanut Gallery welcome!
(9) If this works for you in any way, you're doing the right thing.
(10) If this forum bothers you in any way, just remember: no one is OBLIGED to participate.
(11) Listzilla is about Action, however trivial (Script sometimes lists "put on a dress"--she is almost childlike in her simplicity...) Listzilla is not the ideal forum in which to discuss philosophy of clutter, cleaning techniques, or anything remotely like Theory.
____________________________________________ There you have it, folks: the 11 commandments of Listzilla.
Luv from Script (this forum helps me more than you will ever know!)

PS. #1 You can find checkmarks for your list by using the additional smilies list at the top of the post composition area. Put your cursor where you want the checkmark, then click 'View all smiles'. A pop-up box showing the smilies will appear. Click on the box or check mark you want and it will insert it where your cursor is.
PS. #2 For information on how to start a daily Listzilla thread (like 'Working in Threes' or 'Accountability Partners'), please check this post here.
PS. #3 For information on how to start a weekly Listzilla thread (like 'Whatchamacallit' or 'One Procrastination Item for the Week'), please check this post here.
Edited to update info & links.

Some threads, like 'Working in Threes' (WIT) and 'Accountability Partners', are restarted every day so people can make their lists on the appropriate day. If you are taking part in a daily thread like one of these and you are the first person to list for the day, you can create the thread and opening post explaining how it works. You can copy the previous thread starter intact, with text formatting and smilies. Pretend like you are going to reply to a previous day. Use 'Quote' to pull up the header message, complete with formatting. Copy everything within the quote tags, but not the tags themselves. At that point, back out of your reply without posting and start your new thread. Paste the quote (minus the quote tags) into the composition area and you are ready to go. Remember to check your spelling for the thread title. For example, we don't want people thinking that we are "whoring" in threes!

whoring in 3s! celeste, you and script make my day by reading the no-rules rules and guidelines. let's see: my whoring in 3s list today: picked up ten things picked up ten more things picked up ten more things... but none of them paid me! i gotta stop giving it away for free! (translation: i gotta stop throwing and dropping stuff all around the apt.)

I just started working on Listzilla for the first time today and Cando recommended I read this sticky, which, of course, I had completely overlooked when first posting on the WIT thread. Script's non-rules were funny enough, but when I got to Celeste's "whoring in 3's," I thought I would fall off my chair with laughter. I mean, seriously, I scared the cats. Celeste, that sounds like a great list! Maybe not for this board, but I'm sure there's several forums out there that would love to use it.

Sad to say, I had to edit 'Woring in Threes' to 'Working in Threes' any number of times. It was a bit startling -- and I was afraid to leave it! I haven't needed to to it since I posted this addition to Script's non-rules. Thank goodness!

Hi,
Does the list have to be about housekeeping? Or is this covered by Rule #1? I was thinking of using WIT's at work. They helped me so much at home last week. I have the same problem at work staying focused and being so overwhelmed with things to do that I retreat into various escape activities. Thanks.

SC Shabbychic, if you look at this page, you'll see the description of the Listzilla board. It does say 'related to housekeeping', as opposed to related to work or our jobs. However, if you have a tendency to be squalorous or messy or have difficulty keeping your workspace clean, then perhaps it might fit. If you are in jeopardy of losing your job because of the same reasons you have difficulty cleaning your house, it might fit. We tend to give each other a lot of leeway, because we are whole people and often what happens at home can easily spill over into our worklife.

Celeste, One day I was Working in TREES, but that's another story for another day. I was just rereading the intro, and realized the location for finding the smilies is not longer to the left, It's ^ up there ^. And the link to how to start a thread, just takes you back to the same place you just left. I know you all busy, but thought maybe that can be added to your to-do list if it isn't there already.

Thank you, Ally. I will add it to our Admin How-To's list.
Done!

"(11) Listzilla is about Action, however trivial (Script sometimes lists "put on a dress"--she is almost childlike in her simplicity...) Listzilla is not the ideal forum in which to discuss philosophy of clutter, cleaning techniques, or anything remotely like Theory." I love this so much. I'm also basically childlike in my need for self-direction when it comes to stuff like putting on clothes. . That said, back to laundry and dishes.

Nah - lists don't do it for me. I start off with good intentions and ummm, something happens ... You know how it is. But when I sit and write a list, I feel very in control.

Nah - lists don't do it for me. I start off with good intentions and ummm, something happens ... You know how it is. But when I sit and write a list, I feel very in control. I hear you. The Listzilla section was created many years ago (on the prior forums) ... specifically for members who requested a place to post/read/use "action lists" without a lot of conversation. So as to focus on the action. But it was always intended to be an *optional* place to post. We are all wired differently, so what works for one person might not work for another. Nobody said we all need to use lists. This is simply for people who find "action lists" helpful. This "rules" -- which are actually "non-rules" -- for the ListZilla section are simply a clarification of how the section works. And I will STOP my post here, because this is an action section and not a discussion section. So I will stop talking and instead go clean something.
