Thanks grammea--- that makes sense. And glad you are here.
I really do need to keep a list of things I got done- or mark my work. Listilla is too much for me- but just bumbling around not keeping track- does not help me at all.
And also-- yes-- I am thinking of a special spot. The top of the bookshelf by the door- for some pictures and candles and little lamp I love( where is it???)-and a nice doily- instead of the tons of papers in baskets stashed there.
I have lots of other places for tons of papers stashed in baskets ( that is a whole other problems- Will get to it when I can...) but it is in clear site from any where in the room and from every entrance to the room and it might be a nice place for me to have some beauty. It is a thought- in process.
And HGF- HAHAHHAHAHAHA~~You made me laugh out loud.
It is supposed to snow tonight and tomorrow-IT IS SUPPOSED TO SNOW TONITE AND TOMMORROW!!!!!!!!!!
Uh Hm---- this is northern Ca and we get snow about once every 10 years for about a minute.
Everyone else has known it for days but I have had my head up my fanny and didn't get the news till this morning. Living in a mobile home makes you more vulnerable.
So- I cannot belive I did all this stuff today- maybe it was because I was so cold and moving felt better that standing still? Or adrenalin panic and fear of loss of property was fueled by 2 cups of coffee which I dont' usually drink much of cause it makes me shaky? Whatever the case- Was definitely in an alternate state- everyone was- all the old poeple in the moblie home park were moving around like crazed ants.
You never seen so many old people with canes and walkers moving so fast. They have been faking it. They can bring their own *** groceries and bottle water and cat sand in from their cars. I am done with that noise. I am nearly old and just as gimpy as most of them.
Anyway-
I wrapped all of my exterior pipes with spongy pipe wrap ( had tons of it nd actually knew where it was- in big ice chest in spare room- instead of in the shed where it belonged....) unhooked all of my hoses and soaker hoses and various rigmarole- ish sort of watering devices ( what I would give for a sprinkler system!) brought 40 potted plants into the carport from the back patio and front walkway( huff puff ) and covered up about 8 other bushes with sheets ( I never get rid of sheets - EVER).
I turned all the spigots in the house - and outside on to a slow drip and then remembered- OH CRAP_ I have not drained the swamp cooler on the roof- nor covered it - nor disconnected the copper pipe that supplies the water from the water heater closet - through the attic - over the roof-- to the cooler!
The previous owners made this mistake and the pipe burst in the attic causing considerable damage which I repaired when I moved in 10 year ago.
But there was no way at 5pm ( even earlier there would have been no way...) that I could get on ladder and go up there and disconnect that cooper pipe. It is slick as snot up there on that new metal roof and falling off Rods roof a few weeks ago - well it really spooked me. Nothing like a good hard fall from 15 feet-- to let you know you are not invincible..
So I turned it off at the water heater and then turned the pump to the swamp cooler on and ran the *** thing for two hours ( it was freezing- air conditioner on at 42 degrees!) to get the water out of the copper pipe)
I hopefully got all the water out. If not- if it freezes and bursts- it will not cause a flood and next spring I will replace it with a magic free handyman and magic free supplies..... But I think it will be OK.
I also took the screens off 5 of my windows. They are old jalousie windows- three panes that flip out=- ancient and very drafty. I cleaned the windows and the seals and took the screens out and cleaned them with a small piece of carpet( gets rid of the dust) and then cut the legs off of some jeans that didn't fit ( ans yes - were in the donation bag) and rolled them into tubes to stick in between the screen and the window at the base.
I used to do this every winter before my arms and shoulders went south. Everything stopped short when my arms and shoulders went south- for 4 years -
Ok--does anyone know what a true frozen shoulder is? Adhesive capusulitis?( not a torn rotator cuff or shoulder inpingement- or any other shoulder thing- nothing like that- I would have welcomed those things- they are repairable- this was HELLL)
Well I got it in both shoulders- 2years apart. Took forever to heal and never did completely over it . Never will.
No one knows what it is and if you meet someone that does- they they will hold you hostage and wont' let you go cause they are so glad to meet someone else who actually knows what it is and how horrible it is.
It caused a lot of damage to my whole body and now that the arms are returning- and things are loosening up-- it is hard to remember ( drrrrrrr.)what I used to do to keep things ok and maitnain a house like a normal person that can use both arms and their upper body. Mostly. I still get stuck a lot and have to ask for help towiggle out of tight spaces.
So--
Then I got out several pieces of visquine that I precut to cover a few windows and put it over the windows with painting tape. I have recessed windows......... I have a back hall that goes through a back bath out through a HORRIBLY damaged back door with a broken window-- and I hung an old curtain there with three cup hooks and three curtain hooks - to block the cold.
Then I hung old towels and sheets over the window parts of the door and the window in the room to help keep out the cold.
And I hung big old towels over the crap mini blinds in the bedroom because the sheer curtains in there dont' keep any cold out- and I have yet to make the curtains I purchased that fabric for-- 9 years ago..... One window is right over my bed. Last night when I got into bed- it was so cold that the dog looked at me and said- no thanks- this is nuts-I am going back to the living room and my bed.
Now- I have to replace the light bulb in the spare room - the room of doom?? perhaps. It is a wanna be shed. The special low energy light bulb that has been in the ceiling fixture for about 5 years finally blew but I cannot get to it - without fear of bodily injury.
So I am hoping to clear enough of a place to put the step stool - so I can change the light.
Maybe tonight - maybe not. Probably not.
Also I changed the direction of the dining room ceiling fan and replaced two bulbs.
I don't' know how I did this since the dining room table is completely covered- it was soon after I woke and I was still drowsy. It was before the coffee. But It involved a dining chair- a _ "grab it" and some crashing.
No harm done that I can see ( not that I am looking close) and I now have light in there and the fan is turning so that it pushes the heat Down instead of up. I have such trouble remembering to switch from summer to winter.
Ok. nothing else done today!
Nothing STILL shows but it will be a bit warmer and hopefully the pipes wont freeze.
But that is ok.
Am eating leftover stew and going to wash up plates......
Used to be so much easier when I let the dog lick them first.
I never got sick -- no matter what the media said-and I washed my dishes more often cause the plates were already rinsed. Gross? Maybe.
But Sometimes- ignorance truly is bliss.
Or better than knowing EVERYTHING that can go wrong.
Those of you being grossed out by the thought of a dog licking a plate you might eat off of- ( AFTER it has been washed)- I don't know what to tell you.
Rod is so germ phobic I never do it any more- he won't eat over here if he thought I might. We have been together for almost 12 years and it is one of his few rules.
It is ok if it is a sty here but God Forbid pet spit get on anything he might touch his mouth to- including hisself.
He spends more time trying not to get licked than if he just got licked for awhile and then went and washed good.
And he loves my animals. But that is his thing.
So the dogs and cats have their OWN plates and no one eats off of mine............. ever.... Really. A promise is a promise.
I am amazed how much he loves the animals here- and the two cats I dumped on him- since he hates hair-- and spit and poop and is a neaty.
He is one of the converted.
As they say- "anyone who doesn't like cats- has never been owned by one"
If he thought about how the dog probably licked her butt and kissed me and I kissed him well you would think he would have a fit--............. but then--- he is an engineer - they don't think that far....
Thanks so much everyone.
