Hi guys This one really is my own fault: I am going away tomorrow (saturday) afernoon and back late on Sunday. My mum is staying over on saturday night looking after my dogs for me. NINE days ago, I thought "really should start getting this place in shape otherwise time will get closer and I'll panic." Well, time has got closer, I've done nothing and I'm panicking! Part of me thinks I do this because it's what I'm used to....binge cleaning....leave everything til last minute and then blitz it in two days. The fact it's my mum is freaking me out. I have this thing of having to appear perfect to her. Half of me tries not to care, the other half doesn't want to give her ammunition to fire at me (she loves to do this about ANY weakness she can find with me...not always straight away, but she'll store it up to throw it at me in the future). It's making me feel a bit sick Anyway, my house isn't really bad....just lots of clutter, bits of rubbish and dirty dishes. Can I do this in two days guys???

Yes you can!!
It's not great that you have to do it in a rush but it is possible. I've done it tackling 2 rooms of level 3 & 4 squalor and I've no doubt that you can do it too.
Wishing you well and strength to fight any doubts,
DG

Yes!!! You can do it! Start with obvious trash (cans, bottles, tissues, wrappers, etc.) and get it out. Then, concentrate on the main rooms she will be in. I have a horrible habit of cleaning stuff no one will see, like ceiling fans in my bedroom Any dishes that are in other rooms go to the kitchen to be washed and put away, clothes get put in the bedroom, etc. There are some great detailed posts on how people have done "marathon" cleans, what I have given you is just a place to start. YOU CAN DEFINITELY DO THIS!!!! BF

Mind over matter so.....yes you can do it!! Just start anywhere and keep on going. I know some people will find fault with anything no matter how good a job we do. So do the best you can and keep fingers crossed Mum will behave this time and bite her tongue. If she isn't pleased with how you cleaned then she can join in on the fun and contribute to some housekeeping for you. Or you can just take the doggies to be boarded All you can do now at this point being tomorrow will be here soon is to do the best you can and hope for the best. If you're able to devote all of today to cleaning, you probably will be able to get this done and presentable. Wishing you good luck and sending many positive thoughts your way. Hugs SNM

Bedroom that mum will be sleeping in is totally done right down to hoovering and fresh bedding. Kitchen is 3/4 of the way there! All that's left to do is bathroom, the conservatory (which is the dog's room), and the sitting room

Thanks for all the support guys....sorry I didn't update sooner, Saturday ended up being a bit of a rush. Got house looking quite respectable and my mum very kindly did some tidying whilst I was away, so the house looked lovely when I got back Just some deculttering to do and I'm pretty much on top of things. So happy!
