I feel kind of dumb asking this, but how do you defrost a fridge? I had two fridges, but one broke down. I used to put the food in one fridge and then defrost the other. I'd clean it, and then wait for it to cool back down. Then I'd stick the food in the cool, clean fridge, and defrost the other fridge. I guess, what I want to know, more specifically, is what do you do with the food if you just have one fridge? Thought about coolers with ice, but wouldn't some of my food still go bad, and how many coolers and bags of ice would I need?

Hey dailystruggle, I don't think this is a dumb question at all. If you still have the broken fridge and it is not gross inside, you could probably put a few bags of ice in there and use it as a really big cooler. I use two big camping coolers and four bags of ice, and I try to time my defrosting when I've used up most of my stored food. I have not had a problem with food spoiling during the process - it takes me about 4 hours. I try to speed things up by putting a roasting pan full of hot water in the freezer compartment, but I am not sure how much it actually helps.

I know there's a thread about it here somewhere--not a dumb question at all. Is it cold where you live? Maybe you could put the food outside.
