Lost is a great show, but it definitely isn't for everybody. It'll be interesting to see how the series ends in a couple of months. It keeps getting weirder and weirder!
I don't have cable either. I have a digital tv downstairs in my main room, and it's over the air reception is excellent - for the most part. For some reason, it doesn't get the two PBS stations in my area! Darn it, I used to watch PBS a lot. I even bought a more powerful antennae, but it made no difference.
I have an analog set upstairs, in a room that I don't spend much time in. It has a converter box, and can pick up the PBS channels fine. Sometimes I think about moving the converter box downstairs, so that I could watch PBS on the big screen tv...but that would make the upstairs tv useless (except for dvds).
I keep finding great deals on dvds, either at Big Lots, or used ones, and usually buy at least 4 or 5 dvds every week. That's my version of 'cable', I guess, along with Netflix. The good shows that have been on cable, such as The Shield, Deadwood, MadMen, etc, eventually come out on dvd.
I almost got cable last summer when they were having an introductory 6 month special. It started out at $29 a month, but by the time they got through adding HD charges, multiple tv charges, etc., it was going to cost over $60 a month...and it would've gone over $100 a month when the special price period ended. When I found out that there was a $15 monthly charge just for the local stations which I can get over the air for free, that was a dealbreaker for me.
