Oh I am so sorry you have broken your hand...I hope it is not a bad break. To be honest, it could be a good thing that this happening has made you say you are tired of living like this. I have lost count of the number of times that I have fallen/tripped over my bags of clutter, got my foot caught in handles of bags of stuff and fallen flat on my face, in fact once I fell over some stuff in my hallway and fell so hard I scraped a heap of skin off my arm it was like a second degree burn, and I nearly went headfirst down my stairs. The last time I hurt myself because of my mess was when I decided to start making changes and decluttering. I had also had enough. If you can use this event as motivation, then use it.

Lilith ~~ Now is a good time to take all that anger and frustration and let it loose on your clutter. I always work better when I'm angry at stuff. My mantra becomes: Stuff Be Gone!!!! A lot gets thrown out while I'm in one of those moods.

I feel sorry for you for your fall. I understand how you feel. Last week, I was pushing for time, I had worked my 8 hours, went to class for 2 hour, then I wanted to do the wash, and check the "empty" uncluttered apartment. I watered the plants, came around the corner into the dining room, took a header and hit my head on the corner of the window frame and fell down. It got me to thinking - I should take my cel phone with me when I check the apartment, and I should also give my best friend a key to that apartment. I have no family and I know that I can trust her.

I tripped over clutter in my living room, landed on my knee and it hurt like the dickens. Ended up having surgery. May need a knee replacement some day. Do you suppose that inspired me to clean up some of the blankety-blank clutter? Heck, no, I just keep stepping over it! Actually, I do work at it - a bit - but not enough to make a noticeable difference. I just hope I don't hurt myself even worse the next time.
