Hi, everyone I set three "stepping out" goals for myself this weekend: vacuum the living room mop the kitchen floor clean one thing in the bathroom And I did all three!!! I fought over and over through reluctance and distractions and "deal making" and got it all done. I thought that the one of the three I was least likely to "get to" was mopping the kitchen floor, so I decided to start with that. When I first went into the kitchen and saw the dirty and cluttered counters and the piles of dirty dishes I thought well, it doesn't make sense to mop the kitchen floor before I tidy up the kitchen and then I thought no, you didn't set a goal of tidying up the kitchen, you set a goal of cleaning the kitchen floor. I cleaned the kitchen floor on my hands and knees (glad it is small). It's funny; it doesn't really look all that much better -- the linoleum is old and discolored and there are squares broken and missing, but *I* know it's not dirty. I did a very thorough job of vacuuming, but more astoundingly, I actually put the vacuum away in the closet when I was finished (rather than leaving it out in the middle of the living room for days or weeks) and even more astoundingly than that, I wrapped the cord up, which I never do -- I just shove the vacuum into the closet with the cord in a huge tangle. I really wanted to blow off the bathroom, but more than that I wanted to log on here and report that I did everything I set out to do. So I went in and cleaned the vanity top and the mirror. I did a thourough job in each case, not cutting corners. I thought more than once through the day how nice it is to have somewhere I can come and tell people about this and they will understand that this is a big deal. So, now I'm going to drag my pain-wracked body to the couch and collapse. Thanks, everyone! Laura

God job!!! Way to go!!!! :-D I am not good with lists. I can make a list of things I need to do, and I will do anything BUT what is on the list. But I figure as long as I did something, I won!

You know I think your thread inspired me to do the same. Yesterday I ran the roomba and the scooba in the kitchen and computer room and vacuumed the den with the big vacuum cleaner. Like you I wanted to wipe down the kitchen counter tops, but did not.
So today the agenda is to wipe down the kitchen counter tops and dust the furniture in the den, later I will run the scooba in the bathroom to clean the floor in there. Right now I am feeling so bad health wise everything is struggle.
I know you said you could not tell much difference in the kitchen floor, but I bet it feels better on your feet if you happen to go barefoot in there. I took off after the dog in the kitchen without my shoes and was amazed to feel clean under my feet, nothing sticking to the bottom of my feet, felt wonderful.
Thanks Mizzlora for the thread and the inspiration. WTG

So, now I'm going to drag my pain-wracked body to the couch and collapse. Thanks, everyone! Laura It is almost like magic, isn't it? I think that the praise I encountered in on-line forums is a big key to my being able to turn things around at my house. I heard praise for things that I did, big and small, and it encouraged me to keep going. And I started realizing just how hard I was on me. Always thinking about what I didn't accomplish instead of what I did.
I'm impressed by how much you have accomplished since joining. And GREAT WORK in setting 3 goals and achieving them! W00t w00t!
