I just wanted to post a quick note here about the Force Flex bags, not even sure which company makes them off the top of my head. But, I spent extra money on these bags cause I knew i had a big project coming up (moving and trashing and donating a ton of stuff) and the extra money was absolutely worth the peace of mind.
I have bags of books and stuff that I am donating, and while I still have to use common sense, I am able to get a lot of junk into these bags, and carry them around, and they hold the stuff without breaking.
I'm used to doing everything the cheapest way possible, and causeing myself a lot of trouble, so to actually have the right tool for the job here has made an amazing difference and I just wanted to share that with y'all.

to actually have the right tool for the job here has made an amazing difference This is so true. I also am a "penny-pincher" and try to get along with the cheapest way, but sometimes spending a little extra money can pay back many times in efficiency. I spent money on bankers boxes to store my books in and it made a night & day difference compared to having them on every surface, and in "free" cardboard boxes that were all different sizes and sliding all over. I now have a wall of boxes that are all uniform and neat. Okay, I know the average person doesn't have a wall of boxes, but it's lightyears better than what I had before. Other things that cost a bit but are worth it--the green produce bags that let you store your produce without spoiling, and Mr. Clean Magic Erasers! Diane

I think I will give those bags a try -- I have thinking it would be best in the garage in DHs trash (13 gallon size) to use something stronger but not bigger -- because he puts heavy things in there and is finally using the trash can -- but it's very discouraging if the bag breaks or tears. Thanks for the recommendation!

I've been using the Force Flex trash bags, too. And I LOVE them! (They're made by GLAD)
My hubby bought some about a month ago. I at first thought they were too much of an expense because they were just going to the dump, right? Well, I was wrong. They work really, really well. No breakage of the bag when carrying the trash out. And also, no leakage from the bottom when sitting the bag down to open the back door which leads to the dumpster in the alley. Well worth the extra expense!

I used to have a gf who bought the thinnest garbage bags ever made. I would always take her garbage out for her, and the bags would almost always rip on the way to the dumpster. After a few years of complaining about this, she finally started buying better bags. They really do make a difference.

I second the green bags, but make sure your food is completely dry before you put it in there. Moisture will mess it up. And my unsolicted endorcement is for Replacements Ltd. You know, the online place that sells replacement china patterns and stuff? They're wonderful. A bowl arrived broken last week and they never asked me to send it back. They took my word, and sent a replacement bowl. They didn't have to do that, you know? You don't find companies like that everywhere. (They sell other stuff took, but they're best known for their china and silver patterns.)

I, too, buy the Glad force flex bags. I don't use them for everything, I tend to save them for the things I worry about punching holes in other bags. I've also, recently, been buying the thick contractor bags.

Trash compactor ags work well, too.
I finally bought a $15, stand-up dustpan, and it makes it so much easier to keep the floor clean. Wish I'd done it years ago.

Hi Blackswan!
Those bags sound terrific - will have a look for them next time I go shopping.
My sooper dooper amazing item that I wish I had bought years ago is an accessory organiser. Mine is a bath towel size piece of fabric (but you can get lots of sizes) with lots of different sized clear pockets sewn into it. You can put all your jewellery, belts, hairclips/bands, sunglasses, anything you want in it. It is attached to a sturdy coat hanger so you can hang it in your cupboard or I have mine hanging behind my door.
I can instantly see everything in it and find what I want without pulling everything out of a drawer, getting necklaces tangled up or losing small things such as rings or earrings. I actually like to put my stuff back into it coz it looks really cool to see my stuff hanging there and it makes me feel great that at least one part of my life is organised and tidy!
