Ramatama, thank you so much for the musical contributions to this month's clutter (quotes ). And I, like Seashell, can totally relate to that comic. "There will be calmness, tranquility, when one is free from external objects and is not perturbed.”--Bruce Lee Thank you for all the great quote additions, Ramatama! “We are tempted to believe that certain achievements and possessions will give us enduring satisfaction. We are invited to imagine ourselves scaling the steep cliff face of happiness in order to reach a wide, high plateau on which we will live out the rest of our lives; we are not reminded that soon after gaining the summit, we will be called down again into fresh lowlands of anxiety and desire.”--Alain de Botton, Status Anxiety

(Please forgive my absence from the quote thread this weekend--I went to visit friends in the rural foothills where I only had phone and internet access at the exact moments of sunrise and sunset, but only if all the wildlife in the surrounding forest was perfectly still. :"It's not clutter, it's my unique filing system."--Jonathan Lockwood Huie

"Clutter-clearing is modern-day alchemy."--Denise Linn

Simple rule:
Post by Di on Apr 10, 2013 12:10:17 GMT -5
There is nothing that is "perfectly good" If it was perfect it wouldn't be in this imperfect world, and if it was all THAT good, we wouldn't be agonizing over it. If something is "good"; it fills a need, it fits in the allocated space, and it enhances your life..
If it does none of these things, then it isn't GOOD FOR YOU. Yet, it may truly meet a need for someone else. Holding on to stuff that you do not need, that doesn't enhance your life, takes up room and contributes to building a wall that shuts out people/love/human interaction, keeps people at a distance, and doesn't make your life easier is a form of selfishness. LET THESE THINGS GO!
