I think a thread that ties in very well with this concept is one started by Daye a short while back: takeonestepatatime.proboards.com/thread/26368/maintenanceShe started it just 12 days after I had joined up here and I am now sure that it made a huge difference in my approach to getting my place turned in to a home that I can enjoy. Doing the everyday maintenance of the little things is working for me. Giving first priority to keeping up with what has been decluttered and cleaned and then putting in whatever time and energy allow on the backlog has enabled me to make steady progress and I truly feel that I will get everything accomplished that I need to, if I just keep whittling away at the bigger issues AFTER I have completed my daily routines. As more and more space does get to a maintenance level it does mean that a little more time gets devoted to that but it also means that there is growing clarity of vision and far less stress and anxiety over what remains to be done. I'm also coming to realize that having a plan and a schedule will simplify my life, not make it more difficult or feel like some mental straightjacket that keeps me from having any fun. If anything it will ensure that I do make time for pleasure in my life. If, for instance I notice on a Tuesday that the table tops in the living room and dining room are showing some dust on them I won't have to stress about it if I know that they are scheduled for cleaning on Thursdays. It's early days yet and I truly do not know how often most things that are not dailies will have to be done but I think that will evolve over the next month or so as I continue to maintain, maintain, maintain.

I'm glad it helped you, 1rarebeautifuldove. I have a hard time managing my time appropriately which doesn't help with my schooling. I've never been one to put myself first so it's hard to do now but I keep trying.
calypso, I agree it does tie into Daye's thread. I've always hated strict schedules but am finding my life is so much easier if I have them. Sometimes, I just need to remind myself of it.
