Washing stored linens. Rest was clean just one that had a weird stain. I don't know if it will come out but I'll see.

I must tackle Mount Washedmore before I put more through the machines! Let me just note that the mountain is on the folding table, NOT on the floor.

I did 2 loads tonight- it's nutty how fast it builds up. One load is done, folded and in the basket, and the other is in the dryer.

The wednesday load of towels is in the washing machine. The weather is good so I'll put it on the line outside.

I think my dryer pipe was clear and then blocked again. There must be more in there, and the pipe is really long. Today I'm going to get the outside cover off and see if I can clear it from the other end.
In the meantime, I don't want to waste electricity trying to dry clothes with a blocked pipe … probably a fire hazard, too. Maybe I can clear DD's clothes off the clean clothes rack and hang things to dry there.
Challenge for today: Clear that pipe! I like keeping up with laundry!

Wow. I pulled the dryer out of the washer/dryer closet. The pipe was completely clogged. Went down to the basement and vacuumed it out from down there, filling up a whole vac bag. Then pulled out the washer, too. Cleaned the floor and the walls of the closet, and then took down the accordion doors because they make everything so difficult. Pushed dryer back in, DH climbed over and hooked up the hose again. Pushed washer back in. Now getting laundry room back in order, and the load that was in the dryer dried really fast! Now I have a Mount Washedmore. But I'm feeling great about the dryer working, and the deep cleaning, too. Catching up will be so much easier now! I am glad you did that it will make washing easier.

lostchild - That wasn't the end of it … argh. On the next load, the dryer was slow again. Today, DH and I went out and unscrewed the cover from the outside opening of the pipe. I poked the vac as far down that as I could, and filled up a bag. Then DH discovered that the pipes come apart downstairs, and he was able to take down two major pieces. He held them while I pushed the telescoping duster through them … I had to push really hard on one, and TONS of fluff came out. Then, the piece we couldn't take down we vacuumed from the basement end (we'd already done it from the dryer end). Now he's got it all back together and ready to try again. I'm thinking that my FIL may have done this … would have been five years ago at best, 17 years ago if he never did it and the previous owners did. I have a lot of fluff cleanup to do now, and I think I'll cut open the vac bags, take out the fluff, and reuse them. I inherited an awesome (expensive) Miele vacuum cleaner, and the bags cost $5 each. I started emptying them and sewing them up again, using them three or four times. Then DH found the bags online for $2 each, and I stopped doing that. With just dryer fluff, it won't even be a disgusting job! So now I *hope* I'm back to keeping up with laundry faster and more energy-efficiently than before! And I hope this saga might be useful to someone else, too.

I think this will be very helpful. I am glad you're getting dryer working properly. I know it's frustrating to be drying slowly with wash piling up.
