creativechaos -- Thank you so very much! I am so impressed with how you have been doing!!!! Keep it up! Oh, and I count a stick it note as 1 paper and a catalog or magazine as 1 paper. Sometimes I will count catalogs and magazines out separately, but often I do them as just another paper... sm. little boxes, too. It just varies with me. I am consistently inconsistent. jendela -- Great job getting rid of old newspapers!!! Well, I thought I was going to try to post daily, but things have not worked out that way. For one thing... I've just gotten a full time job, so will be struggling to get anything done as far as house goes... I will NEVER give up! CD

Wow cando, great news about the new job. Congratulations, I know you have been considering your employment options for a while. I hope you can still pop in from time to time. I spent around 1 hour yesterday, sorting through old papers and ended up with a decent size pile to go into the recycle bin or shredder.

Went through a stack of old magazines and threw them out. Yay me! (Also found an old Harper's Bazaar from 2010 that had so many inspiring fashion ideas, will keep it for inspiration! This is the reason why I have hard time throwing away magazines - you never know what old gems you can find. )

jendela - Great job going thru all those papers & getting rid of so many!!! And, thanks for the congrats. lostchild - Sorry to hear you lost your notebook! Great job just getting to it and remaking schedules, mailing out insurance documents & making calls. creativechaos -- So impressive!!! Is your place starting to look better? Is it becoming noticeable or more? The job is being an Assistant to a Lawyer who runs several businesses, too. So, I am helping him with his Law Firm, Properties Management Company, Realty Company, etc. Doing whatever he needs me to do. So far it has been very stressful, but I sure hope things get better & that I can keep the job. We do need the income now and I have been wanting to get back in the Workforce. I just hate that I cannot go stay for a week in Memphis and shop with my Mother & just enjoy her company as much as possible. Her birthday is coming up in April and I was looking forward to it. Maybe I will ask him about taking off then, anyway, but for a shorter period of time. Will have to think this thru as I also need to go to a wedding in Chicago in June and my DH is in desperate need of a vacation. He has not seen his Mother since his Daddy died almost 2 years ago, now. Also, he has been wanting to visit our daughter where she lives in NY. desi -- Fantastic job with the magazines!!! Wooo Hooo!!! A stack of magazines were thrown out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Today, I got a big paperwork thing done. Nope not decluttering, but just a matter that had been hovering.. A big check that I had been carrying around (after having it lay around) for almost an entire month! I am so thankful that I did not lose it. I opened a bank account today & deposited it. Finally! I paid a couple more bills a couple days ago. Other than that... just trying to remember to get the mail every day. Oh, I did get rid of some papers the other day, but can't remember how many I counted. I meant to come post it, but passed out asleep instead. CD

Hi cando, great to hear from you. Sounds like a stimulating work environment where you will have the opportunity to learn. Yes, I would expect to feel stressed at the start of any new job - seems to go with the territory. lostchild, sorry to hear about the lost notebook, but at least you did not let it de-rail your progress. creativechaos, sounds like your recycle bin is filling up! Well done for the good work. desi - magazines are my downfall. I have stopped bringing any more in until I can clear through the backlog. Today, I got a fiddly paperwork chore done. It didn't take very long once I got the necessary information together. Each time I hit a roadblock and wanted to stop, I just started again. Then suddenly I was finished and I had this great sense of relief. It helped that yesterday I planned/committed to do this task, and I started on it as soon as I was up, even doing a little bit before I had my coffee It also helped that I have started clearing off my desk, so I had some more space and a (small) place to work. I also have a shoe catalogue to put in the recycle bin, and hopefully some more papers and catalogues. I don't think that I am up for the magazine cull today since I have used up my quota of mental toughness for now.

I reconstructed our schedules and have more to add including workshop meeting and a court run. It looks to be a long week of dental runs.

Today I sorted two grocery bags full of already tossed paper. Problem was that there was some burn pile stuff mixed in with recycling.
So I got a big garbage bag full for recycling and only a half a grocery bag for the burn pile.
Very agitating to run across things I had already tossed, high anxiety, triggering sorts of things.
Also made a label and a file folder for a new social service paper category. Realized I need to do another pass through my small, active use filing box, adding more files with labels. Too many things are stuffed into random folders.

I've done an hour's worth of processing the Sunday newspaper, which means: - reading it - clipping coupons and sorting them into my purse coupon-holder and recycling a few old ones - taking most of the newspaper sections downstairs to the lobby for other residents to read - setting aside a few sections for litterbox shreds (such as the real estate section, which would depress the hell out of residents here) - shredding those sections - putting the coated advertising sections into the recycle bag - lobbing that 6-pound bag down the recycle chute... ka-BOOM!

I went through three magazines yesterday and one this morning and tore out the pages I want to save and took the rest of them to the recycling. Will do one more today. Edit: two more this morning! Feels so good to see the stacks get smaller and smaller.
