I had my teeth cleaned this morning so I am pooped and in pain, I thought my cane was in the car but I was running late and thought I could do without it since there is not much walking.... or so I thought! Afterward I literally crawled the short way from my car to the front steps. Now I will rest a bit, ice my ankle, eat lunch, and watch a video. Hopefully I will get back to the dang paper- umm (looked in the thesaurus for a 'P' word for mess)... AHA! 'package'. It reminds me of the word 'gift'! Gotta sort to unwrap my Paper Parcel to find the Gift inside! (The gift to myself is sorted files.) Take care. pack passel peck pile pain predicament problem pickle patch

I'm so glad to see this thread! An overabundance of paperwork and getting it organized along with a consistent method of budgeting and tax organization is by far my biggest challenge. I have at least 2 large plastic totes in the basement, a couple of boxes in the closet and a full secretary of papers to sort, file and purge. And I've got about 4 VERY full crates of hanging files to purge on top of that. I'd like to start with the 3 or 4 neat piles on my dining room table and work my way up to the secretary. I really need to come up with a system to make this easier. I think what I need is one of those graduated file holders/rack with about 6-8 sections to make the sorting efficient. I think they only cost a few bucks, and then I need to locate my box of file folders and hanging files, which should be in my storage room in the basement.

lightbluenotes Welcome to the thread! Sounds like you are off to a great start! You seem to be using the filing suggestions that I found helpful in the decluttering book, 'Lighten Up!' I need to buy that book again since it got me motivated to start a filing program. I recently borrowed it from the library just for the filing chapter and found I really need to read the whole thing. Thanks for the reminder! I will order it right now from amazon.com. Here is the linky - Lighten Up! Free Yourself From Clutter by Michelle Passoff Thanks for joining the thread and good luck!

I've participated in this thread once before and stopped about the time when I thought it was "good enough to move". Now that my priorites have changed, I want to make a second pass.
Today I worked 25 minutes on papers for my job.

I just collected up and boxed almost all of the papers that were spread out in not-so-random piles in the living room so I can sit on the couch and sort a lot easier, rest as needed, and watch videos as I sort. The couch is more steps away from the bathroom and kitchen than my bed, so I really must remember to use my crutches all the time. In a tiny house it is difficult to maneuver. Accountability here is good! Take care.
