Small but sweet... I bought a Japanese one-person teapot (actually made in Japan, NOT in China). It is deep cobalt blue and has a removable fine-mesh strainer, so I can use either loose tea or bagged. I hope it will add to the enjoyment of de-hoarding my vast tea hoard down to a manageable level.
I love kitchen-y stuff, and I really have to guard against impulse buying. I thought about this teapot for several weeks, and revisited it in the store to be sure. It was only $5, but the price doesn't matter... only whether it will enhance my life without adding much to the burden of stuff-ownership.

I bought parakeet food and kelp for the goats. I walked into Joanne Fabrics and walked out empty handed. They did not have the tool I wanted. I walked into the local yarn store. I walked out empty handed. They did not have the tool either.

For me, the innoculant against random craft supply acquisition is to spend time with my OWN HOME STORE also known as STASH!! Oh papermoon you reminded me that I have a sweet little green dragonfly teapot carefully store in a high cupboard. So no I don't need to buy one, though I was starting on that path when you described yours.

OK, now you did it, papermoon and angela, now I will need my dragonfly teapot. I love dragonflies. I think I will have to take out my flowery china set when I come home just to remind myself it is beautifull and I love it. Only it is for more people, 3 to 6, not for one. Now I hope I will not come across a teapot for one. Uggggh.

Good questions, angela. I would certainly love a teapot for one, especially a good quality one like papermoon bought. Do I need it? Now I make my tea into a mug, I can still do it. But I might use it, put tea leaves straight into a teapot and then drain it into a mug. Hmmm, probably too much fuss.

As far as I know, there's no rule that says one person can't use items that come in sets of three or six!

ok so I went out at midnight to take some donations to the salvation rmy (its just around the corner) and the donation pods were full and there were boxes of stuff sitting around them. usually I really condemn people who take stuff from these donation overflows (over flow happens all the time especially Saturday to Monday, and everyone walking by just helps themselves) as it is a charity that funds a convalescent home for the elderly not far from me.
but oh-my-goodness a rotary phone. I miss old phones with decently comfortable earpieces that you could hold up with your shoulder without getting a neck ache. and this one was two toned in colour, ivory and dark red. I had to take it. also I took a vintage colander. I have a thing for colanders. I should mention I already have a rotary phone and that I don't have a landline to attach these phones to.
so, naughty me. I subtracted the 2 things from my decluttering efforts for today (im counting them up for a game im playing).
oh and I bought 2 new pairs of shoes. these do replace shoes that just wore out completely which I have thrown away. shoe shopping is very satisfying when you put your foot from an old worn shoe into a new cushy shoe.

bittyboo I love my flowery china, but the pot is for more than 1 liter and I do not like to make just a bit of tea in a pot so big. I will be using it next week when my family comes to visit though. angela, I saw a perfect little pot in a shopwindow, the same decor as my favourite dish set I have, the perfect size and shape. I decided to put it on my Chrismas wish list (we practice wish lists in my family and this is the only thing I would like and I can think of). I recieved many things when visiting my relatives this weekend and already decided that I will not be keeping some of them. To be donated or regifted: a pottery plate with flower decor (not my type) a shampoo (it is for a dry hair and my hair is oily) hand cream (I have a big stock) A shower gel (big stock again) Milk chocolatte bar (I like dark chocolate) To keep: 3 pairs of earrings (will be giving away other 2 pairs) a box of chocolates paper napkins special tooth paste a scented candle

When you said china, I was picturing china in place settings, e.g., cups, saucers, etc., not a china set devoted to the service of tea. It's too bad the pot is so big, but it's nice you'll be able to use it when your family comes to visit.
