This is the Working in Threes Thread (W.I.T.)
EVERYONE IS WELCOME, especially if you've never posted before!
The guidelines are simple:
- Do some little thing to make your house less squalorous. - Do one more little thing. - Do another little thing.
Once you have 3 things done, post them here.
- Post the next 3 things you plan on doing. - Go forth and conquer, return and post again.
Remember - if you are tired or sick or injured or depressed or overwhelmed, you are in the right place!
If the next 15 minutes consists of:
- Looked at hopeless living room and felt like crying - Decided you could take empty pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Picked up fast food wrappers on coffee table and put them in trash
. . . YOU HAVE ACHIEVED THREE - DOM !!!
You could post:
Ta - Da's - Took pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Threw away McDonald's wrappers
Then your To - Do's: - Bring plates and glasses to kitchen - Put dirty socks in hamper - Bring folded towels to linen closet and put away.
Whether you do those three to-do's, or something completely different, once you've gotten 3, come back and post.
Remember to take breaks and drink water. Drinking water counts as a Ta-da!
If you can notice what the person before you did, it might cheer them up to hear from you.
Go forth, have fun, and be generous to yourself with the Ta-das. YOU DESERVE THEM!

Hi MadTiger and Momof3,
Got to post some TaDa's Yesterday I went to a tradeshow and got a bunch of printed material and swag, mostly shoulder bags. When I got home last night I..
-Immediately sorted through the stuff and found homes for all the printed material, hung up all the shoulder bags, put away the business cards temporarily to be looked at later, and threw out what I didn't want -picked up a bag of similar stuff from another industry event that has been sitting in my kitchen since the spring or summer collecting grease and dirt and did the same with it as well finally. -did a half-assed mopping job on the bathroom and part of the kitchen
I'm proud of myself for dealing with this right away, in the end it's two steps forward a half step back. Accumulating stuff I don't really need is not a great thing, which is true of the multiple shoulder bags. But at least I put it all away immediately so it didn't contribute to squalor.
Also doing a partial job on the floor isn't so horrible because I think people who maintain their homes do that sometimes to keep things from going to hell. I think my all or nothing thinking contributes to my squalor.
ToDo's: -Dishes! (already put away clean dishes) -go to lunchtime industry event
later: -pick up candy to give away to kids tomorrow -pick up scissors from the sharpener and buy some fabric (yay!) -finish the kitchen floor

Good Morning Greenfuzz,
That certainly is bragging TADA when you put away stuff as soon as you have brought it home.
TADA: 1) Started the laundry 2) 10 more catalogs tossed 3) Finish folding 1 basket of laundry and put stuff away. 4) Rebooted the laundry. 5) Started a load of dishes 6) Checked how much heating oil we have - and we don't need it yet!!
TODO: 1) Wash up those dishes!!! 2) 5 more catalogs browse before tossing 3) Finish folding 1 basket of laundry.

Hey Madtiger Great going on your actions, the heating oil thing seems very important to have gotten done.
Yeesh, those catalogs, keep coming constantly don't they? I now throw them out immediately, my mailbox is near the building recycling area so they don't come in the apartment anymore. I figure all the stores have online catalogs and if I'm really interested when I get inside I can bookmark it in my browser.
Tada: Dishes!

OK, I've never done this before, but it seems rather inspiring, so we'll see how it goes. TaDa: - Wiped off back/top of toilet - picked up a few pieces of garbage off of table in living room - broke down cereal box for recycling and threw away bag inside ToDo: - put in a load of laundry - fold laundry in dryer - take window fan to basement I feel like this stuff is so trivial. I feel a little silly. I am kind of embarrassed that these 3 things are such a big deal. The window fan has been laying on the floor of the dining room for 2 or 3 weeks and I have many many loads of laundry to do. I actually like doing laundry, but it's all the way downstairs and I spend all day thinking about doing it and never actually do it. Or I put one load in and it sits there until I have to either rinse it again or rewash it if it starts stinking. I'm assuming there are other people out there with these issues, but I do feel embarrassed to say it "out loud" for the first time. Here Goes
