I made sure I laid down shortly after 10 and did fall asleep soon enough but I had eaten way to much and had quite a tummy ache! I also didn't have quite enough water and had some difficult dreams because of it. So a little bit of up and down, sweating, etc. Up for good around 8:00. In one of the dreams I was somewhere looking at something and thought "oh S would like that" and in my dream, I remembered that S isn't here anymore. Made me cry.

Lara - first time I snigged (snug?) my bedtime earlier I kept stats and would look at results monthly. Overall I was looking at less 5-6 am bedtimes than the month before, gradually creeping the bulk of the bedtimes from 2-3am earlier, rejoicing at the times I got there by 12am etc. from the old bedtimes with Wynken Blinken and Nod thread Sending good sleeps msgs to all the american crew now. I managed lights out at 11.45pm again last night. Lights out in LR etc was shortly after 10. After my shower teeth summary etc I wrote up the checklist headings for November. Its good to have that done before bedtime tonight. In september I made betime before midnight 4 times. October 8 times + 12am another 2 so trend is definately in the right direction. also - just started the thread 21 October. though I was supposed/ wanting to do it on the 30day thread. It really is a one day at a time decision. Last night - found the movie I was watching finished at 12am, so turned it off at 11pm. bed at 11-30, lights out at 11.45. ((((angela)))) dream time is a whole different time/ experience zone.

lostchild - I always found it impossible to get up if my daughter was snuggling next to me. Those are precious times that must be treasured.

I haven't been doing too well with this. Last two days got to bed at 1 am and got up around 9 or 10. Thursday night got back from Thanksgiving at DD's house at 12:30 but last night I stayed up binge watching Blue Bloods and Rookie Blue, and cleaning the kitchen on commercials. Cleaning the kitchen was good. Did the inside of the fridge and freezer, including scrubbing shelves. Sprayed cleaner on the nasty fridge shelves where stuff got spilled and stuck, then went and watched more TV. Came back at the next commercial break and the yuck came right up. Got a lot done. On long weekends or days off, I love to stay up late and sleep in. It's probably my natural rhythm, but it's out of sync with the rest of the world. This morning I woke up several times, pleasantly drowsy, and listened to a podcast and a couple of guided meditations before I got up. My dog got me up, she was getting pretty irritated with me! I have to go back to work Monday, so I need to get myself back into that schedule. Ugh.

shabbychic it sounds like you got a lot done with your late night. Yeah, being a night owl makes things difficult sometimes. I've been pretty consistent on both going to bed at a desired hour (10:30) and getting up with the light (7-ish) . Last night I was pretty wound up, cold, and sore so I laid in bed with the mattress heater on and noodled around here reading posts and such until about 11:30. I have an app on my phone that tracks sleep patterns and sleep noises and is meant to wake you when it is a good time in the sleep cycle. So I used that last night and was pleased to discover that the app recorded only a couple of snores and two full cycles of long, deep sleep. It was very cold last night so I was packed in with 4 kitties, 2 behind me, one undercover in front of me, and big fluffy kitty on my feet. Made it a little tricky to roll and to get up this morning! Bathroom rooster woke me right on time though.

I just read the last 3 pages of this thread...I see that many of you are doing great, but also that I'm not alone in having issues with "slipping back" after weeks with improvement... I've not been doing well with this sleep project lately... My "excuse" for slipping back is that I've been sick and under a lot of stress lately. Thank God I'm starting to feel better now, and I'm motivated to get my act together! Here are are my results since the last time I updated: - Friday, November 21th: 08.18 am (I woke up at 07.56, so only 4 minutes too late to get a "goldstar", but then I made the choise to not get up and just layd in bed and relaxed untill 08.18...so in the end it became 25 minutes of "deterioration" ) - Saturday, November 22th: 08.44 am ( Amnesty due to needing beautysleep for an important event, I deliberately put my alarm on late ) - Sunday, November 23th: 08.35 am 9 minutes improvement ) - Monday, November 24th: 08.28 am 7 minutes improvement ) - Tuesday, November 25th-Sunday November 30th: ( Amnesty due to illness.) But I woke up any time between 08.15 am at it's "best" and 09.30 am it it's "worst"... Not good, but it could have been worse! - Monday, December 1st: 08.56 am ?? minutes improvement (maybe 10 min?) ) - Tuesday, December 2nd: 08.49 am 7 minutes improvement )

europegirl I understand the frustration of slipping back towards that later get-up. I am experiencing that too this week. All I can figure is that I just need more sleep altogether. I am still shutting off the light at 10:30 or so (mostly) but just need to stay asleep longer. Even the bathroom rooster didn't wake me up this morning! 8:30 am wake-up here.

reporting in on lessons I'm teaching myself reading a book that makes the claim on its cover that it can't be put down at bed time - not a good idea for me. If I want to spend 8-9 hours in bed, my bedtime needs to fit with the time I need to be up in the morning. 8am out the door, means bedtime needs be way ahead of midnight if I expect to dress and eat, to say nothing of the fact I need 60 min between morning Tmeds and breakfast, and a chewable breakfast isn't just syphoned in instantaneously. If I choose to sit in front of tv and computer and not move to do expected jobs or get ready for bed, I will miss targets - yes plural targets.
Its another night, another chance.
