I agree that even if things bring ridicule, knowing that you helped others as well as yourself is important. Btdt.

Hi Kimmy - it is so nice to see you here. I first saw your story when I found Julia Morgenstern's site while searching for something. I read the whole thing and then followed the bread crumbs to here, last March. Your story was so inspiring, and the kindness and support of all of the posters was so overwhelming, I was totally amazed. Im so glad you are here - I actually think of you often. You are like an old friend, even if we never met. I do hope you stick around for a long time.

Hey Phoenixcat and MissABCD, thanks so much! Yes, I have been awol far too long. Great to be back home! I was so thrilled to be back, my room that has been in need of a serious overhaul in certain areas just got one! I read some of the stories here and the photos and said to myself, "What are you waiting for?!!!" Seems every Squaloree has been busy tidying and cleaning EXCEPT ME!!! I just rearranged my whole room and I mean EVERYTHING, furniture and gear! I have been staring at that mess in the corner for 4 months and now it has improvement and a fresh start. Amazing what this site can do for you!

Hi Kimmy, I am one of those who read your story many many times. You were very brave to say it out loud, You have met many people who do not get it, but your story is helping all those who still strugle. You have shown us that no matter how big the mess is, it can be conquered. I am very honoured to meet you.

WB Kimmy. Sending you a big for tackling that corner of your bedroom, and a whole rearrange of your bedroom. Enjoy it. I'm another who followed the trail here from SS after I read your picture blog. It got me thinking that change was possible.

Warrior Kimmy - I've been on this forum for a few months, I think. I never came across your story, but I'm looking forward to reading all of it some day. I've struggled with squalor for a couple of decades. I often used to think, "If I can ever find my way out of this, I want to help others do it, too." I thought maybe I would write a book, or a blog, or become a professional organizer. But I had to get myself out first! But steady progress eluded me *until* I inherited a second house full of clutter about three years ago. Then, for a number of reasons, I was able to gain on the mess instead of working in fits and starts and always losing ground. Then I found this forum. And I think THIS is the best thing EVER. Better than any book or blog. There is a vast wealth of experience and wisdom here, immediately available, for any situation, and at no financial cost. The friendship and camaraderie and working along with others is motivating and comforting. I love being able to contribute what I've learned to others who need it -- immediately, right when they need it. And soaking up the wisdom of those others at the same time. I'm immensely grateful to you and the other Founding Mothers of this forum … I only wish that *everyone* out there who needs it were aware of it.

I would be DEAD in my squalor if it weren't for everyone here. Kimmy I couldn't have said it better. Finding everyone on the old board helped me tread water and here I am years later still alive and still struggling. (But I cleared and sold a house and I would never have thought that possible) The forum really is a life saver and you are such a great inspiration. I am glad to see you here.

Crazy to think that 2001 was thirteen years ago now. Good to hear that you're doing well =)
I'm curious - what would you say helped you the most in dealing with your depression/PTSD? Sounds like you had some pretty horrible things happen to you.

Dear Kimmy If you would prefer to be treated like a regular member who has gotten out of squalor, then wants help to stay on track with maintenance - Please let us know.
I suspect that is the case. I would hate to think that by our clamoring remembering / commenting on your story - we become a weight that keeps you away.
Sending blessings / good vibes for your journey. I hope that you are able to hang out here as you do the regular 'stuff'. With love from Wy.
(For myself - I need take care with my past darkness. ReVisiting it can bring me unstuck, and its like reinventing the wheel over and over to get away and stay away from that abyss, and to keep up healthy living practices. I really need to choose (in regard to my story) the where and when, and the who to share it with as sometimes the intensity of discussion is not what I can easily endure.)
