Wow, I'm so glad to see you guys still working on your goals! I pretty much stopped posting in this thread when I reached a point where my apartment was as decluttered as I needed it to be for some repairs to be done, and I never did get back here. My bedroom and 2nd bedroom are still cluttered, although better than they were. The rest of the rooms still have too many books in them, but other than that I'm happy with them. I had my radiators repaired earlier in the month and I felt fine about having the repair guy in. I also have opened the door to two different neighbors in the past couple of weeks, whereas before I would have pretended I was not at home. Just this morning I made a mental list of about 5 things I'd like to make goals for after the beginning of the year, so I'm hoping that if people want to start threads about various goals or challenges for the new year, that they go for it. I don't want to make so many goals that I doom myself to failure, but I LOVE having a formal goal--it's the only way I get things done. Congrats to all of you guys who accomplished end of year work to make your places look better. And let's keep going on into 2015! Diane

Cleandream, unfortunately I got sick and was not able to get my kitchen project done during my time off. I have also slipped back quite a bit over the last 3 weeks. However I am making little steps towards putting things back in order. 2015 will be a wonderful year. Happy new year!

Happy New Year chadow - sorry to hear you have been sick. Good work for small steps towards reclaiming order, remember slow and steady is the key. Yes, 2015 will be a wonderful year, I like that sentiment, lets work towards that goal.

I did not accomplish my goal. But hey . This new year brings new opportunities to change the way I think. To honestly SEE the squalor everyday. I am farther than I was at the beginning of last year. I SooS.

On Nov. 6 I posted this: 'I don't know if I am over-shooting here - but I will try to do this. I am moving in 11 days. Nov 17. I had planned to have my Christmas stuff down in the storage locker at the new place - but with Christmas coming so soon, I think I will just have it all put into my apartment - lots of extras will go in the second bedroom (library). I want to be easily ready for Christmas but to unpack smoothly too, and make reasonable decisions about where stuff will go. So my goal is that by year's end, Dec 31, I want to have my everyday stuff unpacked, and my storage in my apartment and the storage locker all decided. I would also like to have a weekly cleaning routine in place. And because my circumstances will then be very different, I want my bills all paid off and a bill paying plan in place as part of my weekly routine. I will have about 6 weeks after moving to do this. ' I'm REALLY happy to report that 99% of this is done. I got moved, figured out storage, and got all of my boxes and totes unpacked, or stored some where if they need to stay in totes. I decorated for Christmas. I mentally made up a cleaning routine, started it Dec 29. This AM I finished putting it on paper in my Brain Dump book, and now I will transfer it to cards. It includes chores for daily, 2 or 3 times per week, monthly, every 6 months and yearly. I have 2 bills that still need to be paid, but otherwise have (I think) a good working bill system, which will be part of my weekly chores. Thanks for the challenge dtesposito.

Wow hollyhock, all of your boxes unpacked--that's a major accomplishment. I'm guessing a lot of people on this board can say that they still have boxes unpacked from previous moves--many a long time ago. Having things in order will let you start really enjoying your apartment--great work, especially since there were holidays in there to deal with also! Dreadedknock, you are so right, progress, not perfection--it's a fact of life for us that working our way out of our messes takes a long time--all we can do is keep challenging ourselves to make things better. I hope everyone who participated here feels satisfaction at the work they did, and that you'll all join in for the January/February goal, too. Diane

I'm one of those people who have things packed from previous moves. Some bins date back to 1999, my little time capsules! I didn't meet my goals. However, I did get my hands dirty, and got many other projects out of the way - some of them actually more meaningful than my original goal, so I'm still happy with the progress I've made. I Soos too, and look forward to getting even more done in 2015. Hear that, "look forward" wow! Pre-Soos, it would have been entirely different: only crisis cleaning ever got anything done. Many hugs and thanks, all!

Cyn, I think you made marvelous progress the last couple of months, in your thinking as well as in your doing. (Doesn't it feel a little weird sometimes though, like a pod person has taken you over??) We will continue to enjoy the new, improved, less cluttered, less messy, less icky lives we're leading!

Thanks Diane - it means alot to hear this, from someone who's BTDT, and can appreciate the changes. But yes, I do feel like there's something wrong upstairs: why else would I ever think to inspect someone else's housekeeping?! WTH?! Look over their bookshelf, check out the art, whatever...but not comparing sinks and toilets, not me! I've truly lost it! !
