I made a challenge with Danny that I would have all my dishes washed by Sat night. That includes backlog and cat dishes. Guess what I 'm doing today. I'll report how it goes. When I get to maintenance it may help having accountability here.

I've heard that, too, about the denture tablets - maybe that'll get it clean! Well, I haven't seen a quart glass coke bottle either. Pretty cool!
Been keeping up at playing Bingo, and making sure that 1 15 min. segment of each of those sessions is washing dishes. I've been doing at least 1 & up to 3 sessions per day, so they're really getting/staying done. I have a stoneware baking sheet, a regular cookie sheet, the cast iron griddle, a cooking utensil, some parts to the food processor, and a few miscellaneous pieces sitting, but that's it.

Welcome jean - good to see you here. Good luck with those dishes and keep us posted. I have started by unloading the DW, now have some pots and pans to wash.

I did some today but not after dinner. I'll start up again tomorrow. Even doing some or most makes a difference.

I have been hit or miss with the dishes again, trying again. Dishwasher ran twice today and soaking two pans, will try to finish the rest of the pots and pans!

Good work justme44, jean, SheCanAndWill, jendela and momof3boys. Consistency of daily action is key to resolving a revolving boom bust cycle. A note from my course instructor Discipline is consistency. Mostly I am on daily action with the dishes. More often would probably be better. If I was honest with myself.

My challenge with Danny got me started on my kitchen. I worked hard on Sat and Sun and made some real progress clearing goat trails, finding a counter and getting dishes washed. I didn't get all the dishes washed by Sun night. I did continue through the week working on the backlog. Today I got a counter cleared and most of the dishes are done. What I have left as far as dishes are concerned is mostly rinsing off some of the clean containers and dishes that have been piled and have accumulated dust/ crumbs. Many thanks to Danny who got me started and those in chat that have been encouraging me this week.

Great work turkeyhill and jean. I need a new mantra, and match it with action without delay. Food first, process dishes give thanks. later I just tried out that method. Also processed some recycling that needed a wash, and the counter and scales and cook top scored a swipe.

It took me two weeks of 30 minutes a day in the kitchen every day to get caught up. Everything else in the kitchen was overwhelming me, but focusing on this one goal has made the rest easier. I am finally caught up. My goal is to try to "shine the sink" once a day until the end of the year. I'm not sure how to sustain it, but I'm sure gonna try.

gazelle and momof3boys. Let us know how you are going. I have bombed out of the 'after every time I eat' thing, but dishes are still done at some stage each day. My big days were a bit much, and produced extra containers.

loaded and ran DW three times today. Need to unload the last load before bed. Washed all the pots and pans by hand except one that needs to soak. Blender container is also soaking. Swiped dish drainer and shined sink. Also dismantled and washed the three fridge door shelves. So got it all done. Now just have to keep up. Thank you keeping the torch lit wynken ETA: unloaded DW and dish drainer. ^^^ this was my last post ^^^^ in this thread. over a month ago. i did not keep up. just sick about the mess i've created all over again. when does it end. Since August, I have not been able to get back into the good maintenance routines that I had established and maintained since joining SOS in spring of 2014. anyway, i've been working in the kitchen & dining area for over an hour now: cleared the bar, kitty feeding station, and a hotspot table by the front door and bagged a bunch of trash. Now getting ready to empty and shine the sink a la Fly Lady and hope that will motivate me to load and start the dw. I won't even speak about the condition of the floors, as that is for another thread....so I will try to stay focused on clearing and shining the sink, then deal with some of the piles of dirty dishes.

I emptied the sink then filled with hot water and bleach to soak. Then drained and rinsed it, it looks really good.
I soaked some dirty dishes, then loaded and started dw. And now I have another sinkful soaking and ready to load.

Washed up, dried and put away all the pots and pans. Ran the dw a second time and put that load away, too. Purged fridge and washed all the shelves and shined the stove. There's plenty more to do but the dishes are done.
