I was WAY too optimistic yesterday. 2.5 sinks worth of dishes? Yeah right! Luckily I was very motivated today and got 5 sinks done! Not including the dinner dishes which I'm going to do right now. I'm not even dreading it.

A member of the church passed, with service today. SO I got up this morning and washed enough dishes to cook. I caught myself hand-washing my food chopper and a couple of other items as I went along. Shocking, really. It was a carryover from when I was active here.
While the dish was cooking, I loaded the DW, but forgot to turn it on before I left. Well, they are as good as done. When I get home I'll flip the switch.

Daye, I never turn on dishwasher, washing machine or dryer until I am home. I fear flood or fire if something should malfunction while I am not here to turn it off or do whatever. Now I wonder if others feel this way or if many do turn stuff on & then leave the house. Have you ever had any problems like that ? catcat

catcat Others may be like me - know the right thing to do, but not necessarilly do it.. However - as I am impersonating the dish washer here, It does not happen unless I'm actively there, more is the pity.

Now I wonder if others feel this way or if many do turn stuff on & then leave the house. Have you ever had any problems like that ? catcat catcat, I have never worried about starting the washer, dryer or DW, and leaving the house, or going to bed. However, late one night I turned the DW on to run while I was sleeping. I headed for bed, then remembered I'd left something in the kitchen and went back to retrieve it. The dishwasher hose had apparently come loose, and water was running everywhere. Fortunately I had caught it just as it had started, so it wasn't nearly the mess it would have been. So, you are absolutely right. We should not run these appliances while we are gone, or while we are sleeping. In fact, I read somewhere that when you're not washing clothes, you should turn off the water supply to the washer!
