I did not get my second and third 8MUR's. I am awake almost 32 hours now and it's 8.27pm here as I type. I am mentally exhausted. I plan to start my sitting room tomorrow after hopefully a good sleep. I'll do batches of 8 mins, rest for 10 and so on. I'll probably have to go round to my mother's house to let my dad go out for a few hours but at least I will have made a start. ETA: I am going to pick up some recyclables and put my bin out for collection tomorrow so that I don't miss it. I do that pretty often, like last week!

I really need to do some basics in my kitchen and living room. I have been preoccupied with other stuff and have let things go and now there isn't a single clean bowl in the cupboard! I really just don't want to start though.
I am going to do 5 minutes - packing the dishwasher and putting away the washing up from a week ago. And then I can sit down and have dinner.

I managed a few 8 minute rounds last night but I didn't get those particular tasks done. As soon as I got started I realized I was physically exhausted from my busy day. Going in for them this morning. Wtg dirtbee! How did you make your pumpkin soup, btw?

Thanks Declutterme and kirakira! I know five minutes isn't much - but that's why I love this thread. Even on the worst days I can pick a tiny handful of minutes and complete something. Even if I can't manage 8. And it is always better than nothing because at least I've started! Kira - I cheated on the pumpkin soup - my mum made it for me and dropped it over! Minibee and I have been sick a bit lately so it was really lovely of her. And the soup was delicious. She made this crunchy topping thing to sprinkle on top - it was liked baked seeds and pepitas and things - awesome! For what it's worth - Mr Bee makes a delicious pumpkin soup and he says the key to his is to roast about half the pumpkin and just steam the reast. The roasted stuff gets all caramelised and delicious but if you make the soup out of all roast pumpkin it can be too sweet. So the steamed stuff brings in the ordinary pumpkin flavour. His soup is devine.

I just done my 8 minutes there now before I go to bed. I put recyclables from sitting room floor and filled kitchen bin and put out into wheelie bin, loaded and ran dishwasher (noticed twice now it's not washing my dishes properly, refilled salt & rinse aid and removed excess water but no good. added more rinse aid- I am never sure how much to add because it just disappears down in, there's no way to measure. really hope it doesn't need repaired) and then lifted some rubbish off sitting room floor. That's almost another black bag filled. I still feel i have achieved something despite no visual evidence. Go us!

dirtbee, the soup soda wonderful! Declutterme, wtg! I used to always make tic marks on a paper for each 8 minutes worked. That way, when no visible improvement could be seen, I could look at my tic marks and know I had done something.

Congrats to all of you that have been doing 8 minute challenges. The beauty of the 8 minute challenge is you get something done without procrastinating or self hating and you don't give yourself a hard time in the process (like working your fingers to the bone) Perfect for anyone who does not know where to start. I did the dishes and the laundry tonight like this and tomorrow I knock more out.

Does it count if I wasn't thinking of eight minutes when I started? I was just thinking of clearing the way from the side door of the garage to the house door inside the garage. I ended up doing quite a bit of decluttering and cleaning up, and now there is a nice clear space, a clear path, and I swept the outside doors which were very, very dusty and cobwebby. I don't think I've ever cleaned those doors at all … I've swept the path outside, and the floor inside, but not the doors themselves.

Tasks broken down into 8 minute increments:
-new litter box set up -charity items sorted -living room picked up -vacuumed rugs -3 bags of trash out -made 2 unpleasant phone calls regarding paperwork -had everything clean enough old stove could be removed! -had repair work done above stove
Dealing with my landlord and maintenance was stressful. They were fighting with each other and LL was rude to me (later apologized, surprisingly). It got done, though.
