dtesposito, I understand about the stretching discouragement! Just hauling out those boxes and then sitting on the floor going through them flared up my nerve pain earlier in the day than usual. Oh well, when you're older, no pain no gain. After a few hours on that project, I have one large and two medium sized bins of sentiment to go down to the basement and join the other bins of sentiment. I have at least 7 generations of sentiment in my house (from great-great-grandparents down to my grandchildren). And I'm sentimental! I need my sister to come visit and help me. She might even want some of it. If I felt it was going to someone in the family and not in the trash, I'd do better. I have one bin and one large box of PAPERS! Time to start shredding and sorting in the evenings when I hurt too much to do anything else. I have one Donation Station box of more old VHS tapes and old picture frames. The tarnished family silver and a few others boxes that need a different kind of attention went back to the closet. But the closet is now only one layer deep on the floor, plus whatever is on the top shelf. (That's another day.) One layer instead of three layers deep means that ... ... EVEN THOUGH I CAN'T YET STORE BOOTS AND AQUA SOCKS AND STUFF LIKE THAT ON THE FLOOR (I live in four seasons), I CAN START HANGING UP SEASONAL CLOTHING AND REDUCING THE OVERLOAD IN OUR USUAL CLOSET. I hope I feel up to that later this afternoon, after visiting my mom.

Hi Diane and dtesposito good to see both of you. WTG for the progress that has been made. dtesposito sorry you are having back issues. Yes it does suck when our bodies will no longer do what they once could. Thanks for the kudos.Finished another 30 mins in the bathroom......wiped down fixtures, woodwork, mirrors , and cabinets. Cleaned brushes, purge makeup bag, cleaned water pick, cleaned basket and put makeup bag in the wash. Organized most stuff will have to finish up once basket an makeup bag are dry.
@next will be one of the kitchen hot spots --- The most difficult one will be the one by the doors that lead to the deck.

I took some amnesty on kitchen hotspots. Some of the hotspots will need more time then I had planned. I got the vertical surfaces tidied and whipped down. Good enough is good enough. It is functional and tidied.

Hi RoadRunner, glad to see you here. You are working hard! Thanks for all the check-ins. Hi dtesposito, I'm sorry the stretches and exercises are so hit and miss for you. I don't have any suggestions I'm afraid. Everything I've ever read or seen in other people is that continuing to move somehow, someway, is really so key to fending off the aches and pains. ____________ The sale today was interesting. It was moderate as far as customers. The temperature rose over the course of the day as the sun came around and by the time the sale was done at 3:00 it was blasting hot. I was a sweaty, wilted mess by the time we got everything packed up! I made $140 which is certainly better than $0. I think I can say that 1/2 of the items sold, guessing on this based on what got packed back into the van to come back. Sadly, not a high percentage of the books which I find a little baffling. I priced them at $1.50 each and they are in excellent condition. Don't people read books anymore? So the books are back in their boxes in the van and will go to the local used book store. I might get a bit of cash, more likely a bunch of store credit which I may or may not use. The bit of kitchen stuff that is left will go to one of my favorite thrifts in the same area. I'm happy when I can donate to the smaller thrifts that support charities directly with their proceeds. So that is my tale of a one day garage sale.

I am not really working on my goal at my parents, munching on so many things. It is hard to resist when they are on the table.

Today, got a dump run loaded. Things from the Little House and some undonatable leftovers from the sale this last Saturday.
Got to town too late to get the donations out of the van. I fear I will have to unload the doggone boxes tomorrow so I can get hay, then load them back in.
Good heavens. The more I handle this stuff, the more I have actually come to hate it.

Angela, can you do the donation run, then get the hay? I try to make my trips to town count like take the garbage when I go to the laundry mat and while the clothes are washing, take the garbage to the dumpster or fill up with gas, or go to the bank, post office, etc.

I think about this thread every day! I really can only focus on this challenge on the weekends. And then Sunday filled up.
Accomplishments since Saturday:
1) My husband hauled the bins to the basement that need attention in another challenge. 2) I'm down to one layer of bins/boxes in the closet, and one high shelf to organize. 3) I pulled several winter clothes out of my main closet and piled them in front of this "new" seasonal closet.
Next project: 1) Find hangers in the basement and haul them up, so I can hang up those clothes!
Getting there ...

imamess, I did what you said to do and took the van full of donations to the Humane Society Thrift Store, then went and got my hay plus a load of vegetable trimmings from local co-op. And did the dump run earlier. So two loads, gone.

RoadRunner, you put together the most creative lists and posts. Today I did a lot of unfocused thinking. Finally settled down and did some sorting of vintage magazines and books upstairs. Have most of a box filled to take to a local vintage shop to see if the owner wants them for her stock. And oh, the boxes of leftover books from the garage sale are back on my front porch. I'm waiting until the 15th to take them to the used book store to see if I can get even a little more cash for them.

angela - I'm glad your garage sale went well and that you got the donations off on the way to get hay so you didn't have too unload, then reload them. Smart move!! I am so happy that the garage sale is behind you and all those things are gone! That is wonderful!!! roadrunner - you're doing so very well on this challenge! I like your charts! It's really great how much you're getting done! Diane58 - yay on all you've gotten done - your closets are coming along great! How great that you live where there really are 4 seasons! dtesposito - I hope your back feels better soon. My garden is coming along and I am getting the plants all planted. I still have 9 to get in the ground. Deciding the right homes for them wasn't as easy as I thought. Getting them established is giving me a reason to spend time outside, walking around so I get steps in. New flowers are coming along on the plants so I am really hoping that this is a good sign that the plants are liking their new homes. I got a lot done today. I have several boxes ready to go to the thrift store. Today is the first day I decluttered for about a week. The butterflies are very happy with the plants I have chosen. I have lantana growing wild in the pasture so I want to transplant some of that. I tried to keep it out but it keeps coming back, fortunately the horses knew not to eat it. But, since it's a butterfly, hummingbird plant, maybe if it's near the house I'll get some hummingbird action. But I do have very happy butterflies and more arrive daily. So, at least I can grow flowers. I've been keeping up with self-care and today I got caught up with the dishes that I just set on the floor after I ate. And the coffee cups I just set on the counter. Each day, I've been doing little bits here and there of maintenance, like vacuuming the floor. I got 6 bags of trash plus the recyclables out yesterday, even though I overslept. Even though I didn't get things out like the recyclables until 10 - 11 am. So I was thrilled when the garbage man came and took everything, and THEN the recycle guy. I even got a few things out of the fridge.

::bigwave::It's the weekend! Friday night! Yay! We're going to a street fair in the afternoon and babysitting in the evening, but in the morning hubby is taking my car and my mom's car in to get the oil changed. So while he does that, back to the closet! And off to bed right now (11:19PM) so I'm fresh with energy in the morning.

Diane58 - how nice of your hubby to take your car and your mom's car to get the oil changed!!! If somebody did that for me, it would give me extra motivation and energy to get things done here. I am so happy for you that you have such a thoughtful, kind husband! Good for you getting to bed at a reasonable hour, I need to get better at that. I hope you have a wonderful time at the street fair and enjoy babysitting! Sounds like a truly lovely day!
