It's been a rather tiring week, and I'm not sure why. Every day except Sunday I have to move my car to a different spot, for temporary street parking. Bylaw says cars must be moved, at least every 12 hours, and a distance of what I'm going to assume would be 3-4 parking spaces. I've been fortunate to find parking on a street 2 blocks away, and frequently I can just move it several spaces, and then after 3 times I need to start at the far end of that street again. Sundays I can get free parking at the lot across the street from me, so that saves moving it Sun evening. So, I make my every 12 hours at 7 AM and 7 PM, so I can avoid walking out in the dark. But it's getting tiring already. Plus it's been cold still, and I have to bundle up every time. It's still below freezing, and this week we've had assorted snow flurries, rain, high winds plus this cold. Right now I am feeling chilled right through.
I went to waterfit Monday, and I think the Monday instructor's HIIT sessions must put a strain on my knee. After many months of no knee problems, it started hurting after a Monday class 2 weeks ago, and then again this week. The added walking hurts too. I'm not sure right now what I'm going to do about exercising - this week it's mostly just been the extra walking, plus 1 video workout at home which probably had too many moves that bothered my knee as well.
I also spent the week trying to catch up on old DYT (Dressing Your Truth) videos. I had been watching the new ones and spending time getting acquainted with the Facebook groups, but there were so many older ones to still view. I think I might be caught up on all of the Type 4 ones now, including the ones only available to Lifestyle members, which were all new to me. And possibly the last time I went through the other videos was when I thought I could be Type 2. One recurring thing I keep being reminded of is the Type 4 need for what I will call solitude. It explains why after I used to have a couple of really busy days I had one where I needed to do nothing. I never understood it before, but now I see my need to just work it into my week's plans. I know I continually keep changing my posted plans, but I'm starting to understand it more. Maybe that is why I could never get a plan to work as I wanted it to before.
So whether this new plan will work or not, we'll see. Right now it's just an idea. In addition, with no longer having on-site parking, I need to adapt things like getting groceries, to that. So I'm trying to just get them in very small batches that are easily carried, and with minimal trips seeking a parking spot. So the ideal time is probably after I've already been out for waterfit. At one point I was trying to work in MORE waterfit sessions, but I think right now with my knee I'll only do 2, maybe 3, and it won't be on Mondays. (IF I go Mondays it may be to a different pool.) Anyway, I am calling those days 'outside days' - meaning outside the building. Waterfit and a mini-grocery run. 2 a week. Then another day will be an "inside day' - meaning inside the building - I'll have 2 of those, doing laundry, and cleaning half of the apt. And another 2 days will be my 'solitude days' with NO obligations - just looking after me, my plants and my birds, and doing nothing more. If I'm really inclined, I may attempt a 3rd waterfit class or errands that day but nothing else. One of these days will be a weekend day, most likely Sundays. And the other weekend day will possibly be a Family Day since that is when I usually see ds and dgs (Saturdays.) That might also be my paperwork days, on the 'off' week. So that is how I am going to try to base this week, but with general headings in my plan for the week - no day designations. I don't yet know how I will work projects into this, but right now projects are on hold. No word yet on an inspection. I even wonder if they plan to have one.
If I want to do any more exercising I'll just do some plain walking ones for now, unless I throw in a Pilates one here or there. I don't want to aggravate my knee further with lunges and squats etc. The additional walking for parking has already doubled my usual steps.

I have delayed posting my weekly list this week. On the weekend we were suffering 2 days of high winds, ice pellets, and possible power outages, so my mind couldn't cope with more. Then Monday I just started getting back on track, including getting my car moved every 12 hours again. Meanwhile I had found that even though I kind of liked having days 'off' during the week, I felt really lazeee with nothing to do - and I never got into the big projects anyway. So I'm going back to a little each day, and to the weekly zone areas. I think I'd been booking my weeks around laundry days, and days out, and cleaning the LR, but this time I booked it around the worst room - my spare room. And the paperwork, which is assigned to that room. I decided to give them Saturdays - worry about it after the other rooms are cleaned, but give it adequate time, and it could even spread out over Sunday if nothing is planned (when I have the birds in there anyway). This sounds much more reasonable to me - so it the basis of this new plan. (Of course I'm known to change plans mid-week in my search for the perfect plan.) Zone-wise I also assigned the Spare Room to week 3 to make sure it got a full week - and week 3 just happens to also be this week - and my most pressing spare room/ paperwork task is getting my taxes done. So that works well too. So now for the newest plan. I will update it daily, as per usual. WEEK OF MONDAY APRIL 16/18 - SATURDAY APRIL 21/18 DAILIES: Self care Su M T W Th F S Make bed Su M T W Th F S Exercise (?) I've decided to try a new variation on my cleaning routine. My mobility has been slightly hampered by my having to do off-site parking right now, and having to go move my car twice a day. My knees are really bothering me - and trying to fit in an 'easy' grocery trip this week, where the stuff I got was too heavy I hurt my back as well. (That was my own fault for not getting a shopping buggy, but it still hindered me for the rest of the day.) Anyway because of more limitatons right now due to this (hopefully short) situation, I've reassessed my routines. I've decided that in addition to cleaning specific rooms, I want a day for laundry only, and for paperwork only. And because Sundays are the ONLY day where parking SHOULD be the easiest for me for getting to and from the car AND getting groceries upstairs, it will currently just be every Sunday. That and an errand or two.
In total I came up with a 9 'day' cycle to go through, excluding Sundays - but if I have a really bad day or a day with an outside activity, I just take care of that, and then move on to the next day in the rotation - only Sundays have a specific task, which is entirely related to parking.
So then I tried to figure out if I could fit my zones into this. And decided yes - except not by weeks any longer. If I attach zone areas to each cleaning cycle, then I could spend ~10 days in each zone, then move on to the next. So each time I start a cycle over, I move to a new zone. This might actually help me get more done in the end.
So right now things are a little scattered, because I started thinking about and doing this mid-week, after a day of pain. This also could make my lists here difficult - until I decided to again just put here a full cycle, instead of going by a calendar week. A full cycle could take 10 days minimum, more if 2 Sundays are in it, or if it's affected by other circumstances, so any day notations are most likely after the fact, since days will not be assigned to anything ahead of time. This would apply mostly to my Daily tasks.

I love how you keep adapting your schedules. You will find one that works for you. I kinda keep doing something similar. I have different schedules I keep coming up with and trying. I think it's like dieting. We just can't give up; must keep trying. I believe that one day ... it will just click, & I'll stick with the plan & be successful.
Your cycle idea looks like a good one.
Wishing you well, & hope knee is better real soon.

New thoughts.
As per my post on my blog, I realized last PM, that my main pains right now are because of tendonitis in my left knee. This is aggravated by steps and inclines, going both up and down, which totally correlates with what I have found re parking 2 blocks away the past 2 weeks. Where I park is on a much smaller incline and if I take the short ramp from the side drive, instead of the stairs in front, I had a much easier time of it. Yesterday I couldn't park near there when I came home with groceries, so had to park at the free lot across the street, where the incline in both the street and extra stairs is much steeper, and I had to make 3 trips to get my purchases into my apt. I was in tears every trip in, and obviously I cannot keep on like that.
But realizing now that it is tendonitis, and that recurring activities aggravate it, I can see that I need to just spread things out, and not do repeat things if I can help it. The way my building is laid out - on a hill - I still need to contend with hills, stairs or inclines even going to either parking garage, locker room or laundry room. Taking out recycling also is hampered by the hill.
So I have come to the conclusion that smaller but more frequent grocery trips are easier on my knees, as is more frequent laundry. NOT repeating the same movement over and over will allow this tendonitis to be less aggravated. So I also came to the conclusion that maybe, cleaning by rooms, where the tasks vary, might be much better for me than doing the same task through the apt.
I have also learned that waterfit exercises might help my knees a lot, depending on the stress of the actual exercise. (I believe 1 type of exercise by a particular instructor was what made this worse, prior to my having to park away from my building. So I will avoid her class.) But working to strengthen my knees while allowing them time to heal is now my main goal. And although the above plan looked great, it's not going to work for me right now. I may still cycle through rooms, but I have to NOT do all laundry or all groceries on 1 day each, but spread them out. For now, I may just have to go with the flow with no plan, until I see what I can tolerate. I may post Done's, instead of To Do's. I'll see.

Sunday April 29/18
I haven't posted on this thread for 6 days. Life has kind of been in limbo, while I figure out my 'strategy'.
Between moving the car twice a day, and general living, my most important task was getting my taxes done and mailed. They are due tomorrow, I sent them out Friday.
That left 3 days remaining in April so I decided to try to do a 'blitz' on emptying and cleaning the 3 book cases in the spare room, 1 bookcase (5 shelves each except for the center bookcase) each day. Then my major plan is to work on recovering the patio cushions in May.
Because of my knee issues I spoke to the supers. However it looks like current parking garage closures are actually worse than I thought - as in the inside doors connecting garage to basement are closed off because they are within the current construction areas, so to exit them you have to go outside the building and walk up the steepest part of the hill or take emergency exit stairs to outside - so neither is knee-friendly. They were going to look at switching me with someone, however in the meantime, they themselves were going to be away for the weekend, so allowed me to park in their spot in the temporary small lot in the backyard while they were gone - which meant 3 days of not moving my car twice a day. So I am taking advantage of that - and got in more groceries while it was good, plus am doing things like getting things out of my locker (requiring using stairs) while things are easier on my knees. So basically planning ahead as much as I can so I can do less later.
In addition, it's occurred to me to try to divide up my 'work' time so each day is basically even and I don't overdo it. Sort of like the spoon theory for those who suffer with auto-immune diseases. I just started yesterday, so I'm working on seeing what my baseline is. I call mine sessions, and each session equals 15 minutes. This means moving my car twice a day takes up 2 sessions, before I do anything else that day. These are basically measuring out my time available and my energy expenditure. Like yesterday I visited my son - so I spent 2 sessions going to and from, but the actual visit was not counted, because that was pleasure or 'off' time. But Tuesday I have to go to the garage to get my snow tires off. That will be 2 sessions for travel there and back, plus another 4 while they spend an hour doing the work, because it's not useful time and I normally wander in the small Walmart next door, and end up with sore knees from that store - so I have lost time and energy, which affects me when I return home. So even though it's a shorter time than visiting my son, it uses more of my available sessions. Likewise with waterfit - class is 3 sessions long, there and back another 2 = 5, then I have 2 more for moving my car an additional 2 times = 7. And right now I am figuring each day is probably 12-14 sessions - and I just used up half and all I've done is exercise - which is why I'm not doing it right now.
In addition, while I am feeling 'limited' I can't spend a lot of time worrying about zones. What I am thinking of is assigning 1 room to be cleaned per day - and while in that room I will do 1 extra deep cleaning thing - or 1 extra session/ 15 minutes. And I'll just start at the doorway and work around. But because my bookcases are probably the things that need the most attention, I decided to just get them done, while I had minimal car movement, and while not doing any weekly cleaning. That's been on hold all week. So starting May 1, Tuesday, I will start on that. Current plan is to do a 10 day rotation, but laundry and groceries will not be separate days any longer. But they will include days for paperwork, personal stuff, 'outside' stuff meaning balcony, locker and car, and family stuff. Some of those days will be interchangeable within the 10 days, since sometimes their timing doesn't fit in with other plans, like 'outside' stuff is Day 9, but my car appt is actually for the 1st. So everything will move back a day. So my plan is to post a 10 day list here, starting on May 1st.

May 1/18 Well, as planned, today starts a new routine for me. I spent the last 3 days washing down the open shelves of the 3 book cases in the spare room. They needed it badly - so now I'm feeling that I'm starting in a better place. Major project for May is to (finally) recover my patio cushions. I cannot even find this size of cushion to buy, so it's really either use them dirty and torn, toss the whole set (loveseat and 2 side chairs - to buy similar is over $1000 now), or try my hand at recovering them, going as no sew as possible. I already have most of the needed items - I'm covering them with fabric from fabric shower curtains. And closings will probably be with Velcro. But I have to still make a pattern, so that will be the first step, probably this week's project. Since I use the loveseat part the most, that is what I will be working on first. 4 cushions. 15 minutes a day? Will that get me ahead very much? Good news from yesterday was that I now have an INSIDE parking spot. Because of inside entrances now being in the construction area, therefore no admittance, getting to and from my car is more difficult than before, up a hill and front stairs, or up 18 steps to flat ground, it can happen less often. I do think the general idea of the walking was good, just not THAT (hilly and forced) walking - so I need to keep up the activity just at my time and place, so as I'm not in pain. I'm working on an idea of breaking my day into 15 minute active sessions, to see how it works within my energy levels, so now the 2 'walking to move my car' time slots are changed to some sort of exercise, but again related to my pain issues. So I now have a 10 day rotation devised of rooms or projects, such as paperwork. They are sort of in an arranged order - but flexible, in that many might be geared to appointments or activities related to other people, in which case everything else just moves down 1 slot, until all 10 get done. I have even worked in a personal day for me alone - and a family day, so there are lots of options. And on the day for each room or project - there is not just the basic cleaning or whatever, but an additional 15 minute session to work on a deeper cleaning or decluttering project, in that area, generally moving around the room. Unless its a seasonal, 1 time only activity like preparing for ac unit installation. So this list will be for the next 10 days. And I will update/ edit it daily as per what's accomplished. MAY 1/18 - MAY 10/18 DAILIES: Self care Make bed Pilates for Knees Exercises Exercise Dishes AM Dishes PM Clean kitchen counters, stove top Vac around bird cage Bird care 1 bag garbage out Daily cleaning or project Daily time in deep cleaning/ organizing activity Time with major project DAYS: Day 1 - LR and Entrance Day 2 - DR, plant care Day 3 - Kitchen, recycling out Day 4 - Bathroom and Hall, launder linens, clean tub, change bathroom towels Day 5 - Personal day/ crafts, clean bird cage Day 6 - Bedroom, launder clothes, dust LR Day 7 - Paperwork, plant care Day 8 - Spare bedroom, vac and mop kitchen, entrance Day 9 - "Outside' - balcony, locker, car, extra errands, clean tub, change bathroom towels Day 10 - Family (or ME) time, clean bird cage OTHER: GROCERIES - 2-3 times a week as needed EMAIL DECLUTTER: Letter of the Day A B C D E F G H I J MAJOR PROJECT: Start working on covers for patio cushions: - get out supplies - make patterns for loveseat seat cushions, loveseat back cushions, chair seat cushions, chair back cushions - set up sewing area - make covers for 8 cushions 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 OTHER ONGOING PROJECTS: Mending: - Resew button on blouse - Fix buttons on blue pea coat - Check buttons on red pea coat, fix any needing it - Resew hood button on burgundy jacket Décor: - bring out some spring knickknacks for top of LR cabinet - clean light fixture above DR table, change bulb Paperwork - sort out partly used notebooks Seeds? - start morning glories, plant caladium bulbs Winter tires off - booked for May 1 Celebration of Life for cousin's wife, May 5 Spring cemetery visit - take out last 2 remaining headstone saddles from locker (near Celebration of Life)

I haven't posted on this thread for almost 2 weeks. I was having trouble figuring out what I was planning to do. Then I finally got a notice about our annual inspection (last week) so did some extra cleaning for that. But I've been kind of in limbo.
Then just this AM I had some thoughts, and here is what I posted in my blog:
'This AM I was 'talking to myself' re my apt and routines etc. Those who don't understand DYT (Dressing Your Truth) may not understand this, but I have found this DYT journey so enlightening. I have determined I am a Type 4, with a secondary Type 1. My Primary (Type 4) likes structure, rules, things done in a logical linear manner. And it naturally tries to perfect everything it comes across. Therefore I like tidiness and organization and a working plan. However, my secondary (Type 1) is random, light, fun-loving, full of new ideas, sees all possibilities and is easily distracted. And yes, they are opposites. And are probably the reason that I come up with what I think will be the perfect plan - and 3 hours later I'm doing something entirely different. And yes, it drives me crazy. And although I try every day, I have yet to find 'the perfect plan'.
So this AM, I recalled viewing some DYT videos, about not allowing your secondary to take over, to take charge. And it wasn't until this AM that I realized that that is what I am doing with the above - I let my Type 1 secondary take over, and disrupt any plans I have. I just need to learn to ignore it, pick one plan and do my best to stick to it.
Then this AM, right after that, as if by fate, I read a response to one of my own comments in Layla's blog, where I talked about the SHE (Side-Tracked Home Executives) system where they designate certain days to certain types of activities. Such as 1 - 2 days for cleaning. One day is 'desk day' for paperwork, 1 is 'errand day' so it's all done at once instead of running around like crazy every day. Family days, ME days etc. So that timing was perfect, because I have always loved the SHE system, and it just seems right to go that route again. Plus I have found that I seem to work better having 2 cleaning days instead of 5 or 6. So there, I answered my own questions.
For me also I like to do laundry here, in the building laundry room, over 2 days. 1 days is usually linens and extras, and the other for clothes, running 2 machines each time. So those would also be perfect days for my cleaning. In my mind I always say that the time spans fit perfectly with cleaning - 30 minute washer for dusting, 1 hour drying for vacuuming - not that either takes that long, but neither go longer than that, and I can still work in a break. And how nice would it be to have laundry and cleaning all done within that 1 1/2 hours! So for me Tuesdays and Thursdays are best for that. I think I want to break up grocery day and errand day, especially with the difficulty getting back and forth from the car while the parking garage is being worked on. The weekend is definitely family time, since I usually see ds every other weekend, but usually Saturday, and I can make the other one on Sunday. And 1 day for paperwork, and that's 7 days. Now the Zone idea was also from the SHE system, so I could still do a zone each week, maybe doing an extra task in the afternoons I am home. I've often mentioned writing out my cards in past posts, which are also SHE. Actually I still have my notice for my inspection last week laying out, because I thought about noting the dates on a 3 x 5 card, for future references. In the past I put EVERYTHING on my cards.
Why do I make this all so difficult? Now to just need to stick to it - maybe that will be the toughest part.'
So that is where I am starting now. I'll start by writing my new plan outline below. I'll probably post a daily list going forward.

Monday May 14/18 After posting the above plans yesterday, my ds asked if he could come over some day this week, and part of the plan will be to get my 2 a/c units into their spots in the DR and the bedroom. Both entail moving furniture and other items to make room - so that has now become my new priority. I may also have him help me move my DR china cabinet back to the center of that wall, which involves moving the same furniture, plus emptying the china cabinet. So some of the above plans are now changing. I think I will make this week's zone into the DR and LR, instead of the spare room. In addition, today should be desk day. For this week in particular that may only be paying bills, because ds could come as early as tomorrow. I really want to stick to this plan - but I have to get ds' help when he is available! I will see how it fits in as the week progresses. Anyway, here is a 'rough' list for today: DAILIES: Self care Make bed Exercise? Catch up on dishes at least once 1 bag garbage out Clean kitchen counters, stove top Vac around bird cage Bird care Swish and swipe bathroom WEEKLY: Monday: Paperwork Pay bills Update Quicken, budget book File bills Work on a budget Sort additional papers ZONE/ PROJECT: Summer Prep's Install a/c units in DR and Bedroom - move furniture in bedroom to make room for ac install - move tables and plants in DR and LR to make room for ac install - move anything else needing it - make sure units and their extensions are accessible (in LR closet) Move china cabinet - empty china cabinet - put dishes away - put crystal somewhere (in kitchen) safe - mark where to move it to - wash summer china and put in china cabinet once moved - put crystal back in - child proof anything that dgs can get into during visit Other summer preps - move Bakers racks to balcony from spare room - wash down patio chair frames - wash outside windows - start making covers for patio cushions
