Thursday May 17/ 18 Ds and dgs are supposed to be coming this afternoon/ evening to put in the ac units in my DR and bedroom. I'm pretty prepared now, just have to move a few pieces of furniture in the hall to make room to get past them. I want him to help me move the china cabinet about 2-3 feet down the wall too. So everything today is geared to that - and where I'd normally move stuff into the kitchen, ds said he's bringing dinner too and may need to cook something, so I've had to leave that as free as possible as well. A lot of stuff has been moved to the spare room for now. So for today I just need to do some final preps. Today is designated as a cleaning day, and laundry day. I will see about laundry - I'm trying to extend time between doing loads, maybe every 9-10 days instead of 7. I'll just have to see how the day goes. Today's list: DAILIES: Self care Make bed Exercise? Catch up on dishes at least once 1 bag garbage out Clean kitchen counters, stove top Vac around bird cage Bird care Swish and swipe bathroom WEEKLY: Thursday: Cleaning Day #2 - Front of Apt., Laundry Laundry? Friday May 18/18 Yesterday was a success - ds and dgs visited, and we got the china cabinet moved, and the 2 ac units installed. I didn't get all of the weekly cleaning done, but did what needed it, and it's good enough until next week. Actually I did bits and pieces here and there all week, so except for mopping (which I could still do) pretty much everything might have gotten touched at least once during the week - and the place looks pretty good. Today is now Grocery Day. I don't need much, but I'll make a (hopefully) quick trip out. And do a little puttering, putting away stuff we used yesterday. I think the plan for this week has worked well, even though I didn't stick strictly to it. Today's list: DAILIES: Self care Make bed Exercise? Catch up on dishes at least once 1 bag garbage out Clean kitchen counters, stove top Vac around bird cage Bird care Swish and swipe bathroom WEEKLY: Friday: Grocery Day - make grocery list - shop - put away purchases Thursday: Cleaning Day #2 - Front of Apt., Laundry Laundry? Saturday May 19/18 I didn't get much done yesterday, except groceries and an errand - but then Groceries Day was yesterday's focus, I just didn't do any overdue items. Today should be Family Day, but it isn't - already done for this week. So I guess it's Miscellaneous Day. Maybe I can use it to catch up. What I'd like to do is to walk down to the local small mall, and the Farmer's Market. A couple of stores that I want to browse in, as well as the market. It'll help me getting my steps/ exercise in, even though I know it makes my back hurt walking home uphill. But it will get me out of the house. Today's list: DAILIES: Self care Make bed Exercise? Catch up on dishes at least once 1 bag garbage out Clean kitchen counters, stove top Vac around bird cage Bird care Swish and swipe bathroom WEEKLY: Saturday: Family/ Misc Day - walk to mall/ Farmers market? no, rained most of day - tidy through - LR DR Kitchen Entrance Hall Bedroom Bathroom Spare Room Catch Up: Scrub kitchen counters, stove Mop Entrance, kitchen Vac bathroom Mop bathroom Update Quicken, budget book File bills Work on a budget Sort additional papers ZONE/ PROJECT: MAY: Summer Prep's China cabinet - wash summer china and put in china cabinet - put crystal back in Other summer preps - move Bakers racks to balcony from spare room - wash down patio chair frames - wash outside windows - start making covers for patio cushions - make pattern loveseat cushions, cut out, sew one

Sunday May 20/ 18 Not much to report. I didn't make it to the market yesterday, just too cool and rainy. But I did get in 16 minutes of a 1 mile walking routine. I got some tidying done, and worked on the bathroom. But that's pretty much it. Today is a ME day - plus bird and plant care. Without the sun shining, and the heat in the building now off, I am having trouble staying warm. - I have to have the windows open all winter to keep the place cooler, and now that spring is here it's all closed up and I'm trying to keep warm. That kind of kills any incentive to work on extra projects. I'm sort of avoiding the patio cushions - but I keep forgetting to work on putting things back in the china cabinet, even though it's on my list. Today's list: DAILIES: Self care Make bed Exercise? walked the path at the Bayfront park, ~ 1 mile Catch up on dishes at least once 1 bag garbage out Clean kitchen counters, stove top Vac around bird cage Bird care Swish and swipe bathroom WEEKLY: Sunday: ME day Polish finger nails, toe nails? Water, deadhead plants Clean bird cage Walk down by the Bay? Craft? Catch Up: Mop Entrance, kitchen ZONE/ PROJECT: MAY: Summer Prep's China cabinet - wash summer china and put in china cabinet - put crystal back in Other summer preps - move Bakers racks to balcony from spare room - wash down patio chair frames - wash outside windows - start making covers for patio cushions - make pattern loveseat cushions, cut out, sew one

Friday June 1/18
I've been absent for 10-11 days. In that time I did get the balcony all cleaned, and the summer china washed and into the china cabinet. But the patio cushions haven't been started yet, and the crystal is still in the spare room, where I put it before ds helped me move the china cabinet. I'll be slowly getting it washed and back in the china cabinet too.
Now that my legs are feeling better, I'm trying to get back into waterfit. Basically, the routines I like are very similar whether I do them on land or in the water - and in this heat it's hard to get motivated to do them indoors. And although I didn't really care for the very busy pool, what I called 'unfriendly', it offers times in the afternoons, which better coincides with my Intermittent Fasting, so I am trying back there again. I went to 1 class on Wed., and boy was I sore afterwards! I've gotten so out of shape! That was a 5:30 PM class, which isn't offered on Fridays, so I plan to go to the 1 PM one today. I also know I need to plan and cook ahead to have ready meals since I know I will be exhausted afterwards. In addition, maybe the later classes will allow me to get more done at home before I go. I am now making my health and fitness my main goals, over and above the apt. Parking here is still an issue, creating more challenges, but I'm working with it.
My big desire is to just make everything easy! So little bits at a time. And so I have (again) changed from the 2 or 3 big cleaning days, to a bit every day. Right now the plan is to alternate ends of the apt. Ideally I'd like to assign chores in each to specific days - but so far this week I haven't. By doing the alternating, I can work whatever method I want - by room, by chore, or just doing what needs done the most. So generally M W and F are front of the apt days - and probably waterfit classes. T Th and Sa are back of the apt days - along with the additional things like laundry, groceries and most family-related stuff, and hopefully another exercise method.
Today we also start June Purgathon. My main issue is my paperwork, so that will be my focus (mostly) for this month. I have ideas to set up a system for 'current' papers, plus I want to go through old papers stored in my 2 drawer file cabinet in my kitchen. Fortunately most of my financial and important papers are stored separately in 1 area, and all of my tax files in another, so this is just general interest stuff, with future filing in mind.
In addition, today the water will be shut off, possibly 9AM to 3 PM, so I need to work around that.
Today's list:
DAILIES: Self care Make bed Exercise - waterfit 1PM? Catch up on dishes at least once 1 bag garbage out Clean kitchen counters, stove top Vac around bird cage Bird care Water balcony plants
WEEKLY: Friday: Front of Apt.: Tidy Clean bird cage Dust Vac couch Vac floors Scrub kitchen Mop kitchen and entrance Additional: Put away groceries
PROJECT: JUNE PURGATHON: Paperwork - buy 2 more stand up file holders - decide 'themes' for 4 standing file folders - move previously sorted files into appropriate holder - start sorting through old files in file cabinet - sort current basket(s?) of papers into new file holders per theme
ZONE/ PROJECT from MAY: Summer Prep's China cabinet - wash crystal and put back in (4 stacks of crystal) 1 2 3 4 Other summer preps - start making covers for patio cushions - make 2 patterns for loveseat cushions, cut out, sew one set - continue with remaining 3 sets

Monday June 4/18 Well it seems like I didn't report back at all on Friday. And here it is Monday. I will admit that I did slack off a bit over the weekend. I had planned to do 2 errands in different areas of the city - 1 Sat. and 1 Sun. I did the Sat. one, going to a specialty shoe store to hopefully get sandals that fit - something I haven't really had for about 20 years!!!!! Once we found my true size, and the style I want, now the colour I want is on order, so I'll hope they find a pair. Sunday's errand was going to be getting stand-up file holders to start my purge-a-thon - until I checked the price on-line! So I stayed home and remembered I had a 5 drawer plastic unit that was almost empty in my locker, so brought it up to sort into - and it's now ready to start. For this week I plan to do waterfit at least twice, with other routines in-between. Yesterday I had a much needed rest day. My ds' birthday is this week, so I/we need to figure out what we are going to do, either this coming weekend or the next. I plan now to work on the apt alternating the ends each day. I think I'll just post a list for the week, and then update it (edit it) daily. i like your days - the "me" day, family day, front and back of apartment; and the little bits every day - then if it moves you, the bigger cleaning. makes sense to me! it's a lot the way i work on art when i am working. when no muse is around, i tidy my art areas for when the muse comes. i like how you change it up, keep it fresh, and consistently get things done, hollyhock! and how organized you are with your lists. your weekly list is organized and doesn't make my eyes glaze over, like most long lists do. i am always inspired when i come on here and see what you get done.

hollyhock - I'm glad you are back. I missed reading along. Good job making exercise and the waterfit a priority. When your body is stronger, it seems to make everyday tasks easier to accomplish. I hope you find a good schedule that works with your health issues and days. Have a great day, Dear HH!

Thank you for visiting and your sweet comments creativechaos , purpleangel and @readyforchange18. I didn't get much done in my plans from last week. Well I did but most was quick cleaning on Sat and Sun. And then Monday I didn't do much again. But as I started working on things yesterday (Tuesday) a new plan came to me. First I really really really need to exercise!!!! In the AM I went through a few of my favourite exercise videos, categorized them, did a bit of reading, and made a basic plan. I think in the AM I will start by doing a walking routine (cardio) - start at 10-20 minutes, and lengthen it eventually, possibly up to 30 minutes. But later in the day, most likely before supper, I will do something else. The routines I watched I could put into basically 2 categories - some using weights and some more along the lines of Pilates- yoga fusion. And some might have some cardio in them too. The general plan is to pick 2 videos, and alternate them. After about 2 weeks I will switch out 1 of the videos for something else in the same category, the next week I will switch out one in the other category. This would allow me to rotate through videos I like, time to improve on the one I am doing (so about 6 sessions) then switch to another in the same category so I don't get bored. I could probably come up with about 4 I like in each category and just move through them. I know I keep talking about making 3 x 5 cards for my cleaning routines (if I ever stick to one) but this would also be a good item to track on those. And since waterfit usually uses something for some 'weight' exercises, it could also be tossed into the mix, if I desire, on any M W or F. So plan is walking in the AM before I do much else, and something else in the evening, before supper. With 1 rest day per week, most likely Sunday. So then the other thing that just sort of happened yesterday, but I liked and will probably continue, was that I did a very quick clean on the end of the apt - and being Tuesday is was the back end. Scrubbed down the bathroom, did a quick dust through and then a vac. This was pretty much without moving anything, and also along side the dailies since I started late. And it was between washing sinkfuls of dishes. I just did it quickly and as best I could. It wasn't too bad as I had done it recently. And along the way as I saw things needing homes or to be moved to other areas or needing extra attention etc, I just told myself that that'd all come up in the zones. Anyway things went so quickly, it made me think that if I did this every other day, it'd keep things pretty good, and as I got the extras moved, it'd get easier and better. I just worked around them. I had a very late start but was still done by noon. It took under an hour, maybe around 30 or 40 minutes. But then I realized that that freed up my afternoon for anything else I might want to do. So I thought, instead of trying to plan my weeks around laundry days and grocery days etc, just do a quick clean through half the apt each AM and then I had the afternoon free to do all of the other stuff, whether it's outside stuff, projects, or deep cleaning. Yesterday's project became washing 2 loads of laundry I couldn't do last week because I couldn't add money to my laundry card (machine was broken I guess) and I had decided I was for sure a Type 4, and so was switching around the 2 closets again while putting some things into totes for later review and probable donation. But I had a very productive afternoon. So I think I will continue like this. And if for some reason I don't get to the quick clean 1 day, it comes up again in 2 days, so it's never really behind. So now, to carry that over to today; Plans for Wednesday June 13/18: DAILIES: Self care Make bed AM Exercise - walking routine Catch up on dishes at least once 1 bag garbage out Clean kitchen counters, stove top Vac around bird cage Bird care Water balcony plants EVERY OTHER DAY: M W F Clean bird cage Quick clean front of apt - scrub kitchen - dust - vac - mop kitchen and entrance Extra (weekly chore) - clean microwave PM exercise routine using hand weights PROJECTS or ZONE CLEANING: JUNE PURGATHON: Paperwork Sort old files in file cabinet, 10 minutes a day Put keepers in appropriate drawer in 5 drawer chest Once finished, sort baskets of recent paperwork in spare room Put new categories in file cabinet CHINA CABINET: - wash crystal (currently in spare room) and put back in (4 stacks of crystal) 1 2 3 4 RECOVER PATIO CUSHIONS: - make 2 patterns for loveseat cushions (seat and back) - cut out - sew one set - sew 2nd set - continue with remaining 2 chairs ADDED PROJECTS: CLOTHING: Sort out summer bottoms into Types Put away Type 4's Put remaining in large tote Move 2 totes containing other Type clothing into storage closet

Yesterday went pretty well. I'm sore from all of the added exercising though. I didn't get to washing up any of the crystal, but I did bring some into the DR, so closer to the kitchen. I'll probably wash up some today before I start anything else. Today is a back of the apt day. My extra will be changing out the bed linens and then washing at least 1 load of laundry. Plans for Thursday June 14/18: DAILIES: Self care Make bed AM Exercise - walking routine Catch up on dishes at least once 1 bag garbage out Clean kitchen counters, stove top Vac around bird cage Bird care Water balcony plants PM exercise routine - Pilates-related walk out at park by the bay EVERY OTHER DAY: T Th S Quick clean back of apt - scrub bathroom - dust - vac - mop Extra (weekly chore) - change sheets - launder linens PROJECTS or ZONE CLEANING: JUNE PURGATHON: Paperwork Sort old files in file cabinet, 10 minutes a day Put keepers in appropriate drawer in 5 drawer chest Once finished, sort baskets of recent paperwork in spare room Put new categories in file cabinet CHINA CABINET: - wash crystal (currently in spare room) and put back in (4 stacks of crystal) 1 2 3 4 RECOVER PATIO CUSHIONS: - make 2 patterns for loveseat cushions (seat and back) assessing - cut out - sew one set - sew 2nd set - continue with remaining 2 chairs ADDED PROJECTS: CLOTHING: Put away Type 4 summer bottoms, re-arrange drawers as needed ADD: rearranged 3 drawers, and tossed about 12 old articles of clothing, put another 6 in donation bag.

Yesterday I seemed to spend most of my day in my bedroom. I was sorting out drawers, making room for summer bottoms and exercise stuff. I ended up finally tossing some really old stuff, and donating a bit more. But I never got to any actual cleaning. This made me question whether to continue on with this plan - or to go back to cleaning by room. I think it might work at some future point, but right now I have too many projects I'm trying to do as well as clean. I did get laundry done too.
For today I need to go do at least 1 errand. It is project related. But can I get the rest of the front of apt cleaning done too? I definitely do not want to spend the entire day cleaning and then on projects. I will continue on and see how this goes, or if I go back to cleaning by room.
Plans for Friday June 15/18:
DAILIES: Self care Make bed AM Exercise - walking routine Catch up on dishes at least once 1 bag garbage out Clean kitchen counters, stove top Vac around bird cage Bird care Water balcony plants PM exercise routine - using hand weights
EVERY OTHER DAY: M W F Clean bird cage Quick clean front of apt - scrub kitchen - dust - vac - mop kitchen and entrance Extra (weekly chore) - mop kitchen floor (how often do I need to do this?) - put away laundry
PROJECTS or ZONE CLEANING: JUNE PURGATHON: Paperwork Sort old files in file cabinet, 10 minutes a day Put keepers in appropriate drawer in 5 drawer chest Once finished, sort baskets of recent paperwork in spare room Put new categories in file cabinet
CHINA CABINET: - wash crystal (currently in spare room) and put back in (4 stacks of crystal) 2 3 4
RECOVER PATIO CUSHIONS: - make 2 patterns for loveseat cushions (seat and back) assessing - cut out - sew one set - sew 2nd set - continue with remaining 2 chairs

Posted plans for last Friday ended up taking a totally different direction. As outlined in my blog, I took a look at why I was balking about recovering my patio cushions, that were ripping every time I sat on them, so I wasn't sitting outside at all. I realized the issue for me was the curved backs of the cushions, that did not fit in with my original intentions. Assessing the frames, I decided to go out to a foam store and see how much new foam would be in a straight-top style, and with only 1 long seat cushion and 1 back cushion, for the loveseat. That was all I was doing at this point because that's what gets used the most, when I do use them. Anyway I came home with new foam cushion forms, already wrapped in batting and I'm very pleased. Covering them will now be easier, although the seat foam is now somewhat heavy and awkward. I started working on them Sun., but then started balking when I brought out the sewing machine. It was around that point that I decided to give myself 2 project days per week (again). Last trial of this didn't work, but I still think it should if I don't expect too much of myself. So now my plans are Mon and Tues are project days. (That could include zone cleaning in the future.) Wed is for groceries and errands. Thursday and Friday are now cleaning days, and probably laundry. Saturday is anything I need to do out of the apt - more errands, or seeing ds and dgs. Maybe paperwork And Sunday for rest. If I keep up on the dailies, this should all work. So here is the list for this week. I'll hopefully update it each day. LIST FOR MONDAY JUNE 18 - SATURDAY JUNE 23/ 18 DAILIES: Self care Make bed Catch up on dishes at least once Clean kitchen counters, stove top Vac around bird cage 1 bag garbage out Bird care Water balcony plants Exercise - weights M Th - mat T F - cardio W (T) (F) Sa OTHER: Clean bird cage x 2 Water indoor plants X 2 WEEKLY: MONDAY - PROJECT TUESDAY - PROJECT, LAUNDRY? I started trialling a new plan the past couple of days, and it seems to be working. I have broken up my daily activities and rooms, into roughly 12 areas. These include 2 for self care, 1 for birds, 1 for plants, 2 for the kitchen (AM and PM), and then each room. The initial idea was to spend 10 minutes in each area each day, and just do what needs to be done the most. The first day was very effective, and actually so effective that I thought eventually I might be able to cut it down to 5 minutes per room. The 2nd day I was out most of the day and when I returned I decided to only do 5 minutes per room, and again it was effective. With this I got lots of tidying done, bathroom all scrubbed, dusting done, and the kitchen and entrance vac'd and mopped. This is only for general cleaning, not deep cleaning. I also divided it up by times, so all of the categories don't happen at once. (Actually the first day I would do 10 minutes in an area, take a 10 minute break, and then do another area.) Basically the AM is dishes, self care and back of the apt. Then in the afternoon it was the LR/DR, entrance and hall - or middle of the apt, and paperwork. Then in the PM it's the birds, balcony and plants, and another round of kitchen/dishes. BTW my dishes are finally caught up doing this!!!! So this is going to be my basic plan for this week. At present I'm not even sure that I'll have enough to do in each room to put in 10 minutes, so it'll be 5-10 minutes for each area. I'm also going to add in exercise, AM and PR to this plan - probably a short 7 minute routine in the AM, and then another 20-40 minute one later, progressing in length as I cycle through them over a few weeks. I forgot to add that another daily category is paperwork, although honestly I haven't gotten there yet this past week - but it does tie in with my projects. I'm still working on the same ones as the last 2 weeks, at least until the end of the month. (Paperwork may eventually spill over to email decluttering.) LIST FOR SUNDAY JUNE 24 - SATURDAY JUNE 30/ 18 DAILIES and WEEKLIES: 5-10 min/area/day: AM: Exercise (7-10 min) (due to pain) Self care - shower, teeth, hair Dress and makeup Dishes and kitchen Bathroom Bedroom Spare room AFTERNOON: Entrance and Hall (includes vac'ing around bird cage) LR and DR Paperwork PM Exercise (20-40 minutes) Kitchen, dishes and garbage out Balcony and plants Bird care EXTRAS during the week: Laundry - linens, and extras Laundry, clothes Groceries (T) Errands (T) Clean bird cage Other projects PROJECTS or ZONE CLEANING: JUNE PURGATHON: Paperwork Sort old files in file cabinet, 10 minutes a day Put keepers in appropriate drawer in 5 drawer chest Once finished, sort baskets of recent paperwork in spare room Put new categories in file cabinet CHINA CABINET: - wash crystal and put back in (4 stacks of crystal) 4 RECOVER PATIO CUSHIONS: - lay out loveseat back cushion and prepare fabric for sewing - sew back cushion cover, attaching ties - assess when I want to do 2 side chairs, if this all works out CLOTHING: Set up clothing 'pods' by colour ADD: Pick up sandals that have finally arrived (I will probably update (edit) each AM for the previous day's results, as per usual.)
