now i know why i don't make many checklists - i never get back to them and things can change so much that the things listed don't even happen for days, while other accomplishments do.
i think for now i will name my accomplishments, mostly. then i don't have to fret about not completing checklists - out of sight, out of mind.

thanks for the encouragement and cheers, Unswamping.
i never got sis's quilt mailed. i am going to take pics of it today i hope. kind of tricky - there is no place in here to photograph anything. it's sunny out and what i need is a cloudy but not too dark day, and a place to drape or lay the quilt.
i got my tree (mostly) decorated and it is pretty, glittery (ha ha_ and sparkly. you would hate it - tinsel-silver and glitter for miles! it makes me so happy to look at it.
i will do a SHORT checklist today. the kitchen is unnavigable and STINKS of spoiling food. i have taken out recycle and have put some spoiling moldy squash into the dumpster - retrieved two small boxes that i can use to pack stuff out of the way in order to sort and have some goat trails.
TO DO: photograph sister's quilt. upload photos to computer to be sure they turned out. do dishes clean disgusting sink start clearing a path in kitchen - to sink and stove first. pick up trash something fun and nourishing to my soul
i'll add more as i go.

creativechaos i can appreciate a beautiful tree, even if its not to my tastes. I just dont like glitter in my house. Im so glad you got the tree done, enjoy it! Can you put the quilt on your bed to photograph? Great job on getting recycling and moldy squash out! I need to do dishes too, first i need to carve a path to sink.
I changed 4 of 5 litter pans. Ive been really bad this week, i think the last change was sunday. So i gave the kitties a present. Dumped the litter pans out into the trash, and refilled with clean litter. Used the last of the clean litter so i didnt do the fifth one. Took the trash bag out to the can. Need to clear a path to the sink and get dishes washed. I will see whats next after i get that done.

I got most of the dishes done, a few soaking now. Shocking, there werent as many as i thought, mostly all the mugs and glasses. Some recycling washed. The kitchen looks bad because there are boxes and piles blocking all the lower cabinets so the clean stuff is sitting on the counters. I guess ive been using more paper stuff than i thought or ive been eating really bad (a mix of bothi think). After i wash the egg pan, i will make some scrambled eggs.

i'm sorry i never made it back here, dear Unswamping. i did photograph the quilt outdoors. the color is off, but it is as good as this stupid windows photo editor is going to let me do; done is good enough.
i did more dishes, never made it to the bottom of the scummy sink though. made fish tacos and made more mess. and talked hours on the phone to a friend in crisis; i try to call him every couple weeks and it's exhausting but i am worried about him. i'm wiped out, and have to be up at 7 or earlier. going to take a nap. by now i hope you are asleep. you did a great job today with the cat litter pans and the dishes - WTG!
i'll be gone from early morning til tomorrow night. thankfully i am done all holiday social obligations!still have calendars to mail out; that can happen Friday. i'm too tired tonight to do much of anything else except crawl into bed.

creativechaos great job on getting the quilt photographed. Done is really good enough. Great job on working on the dishes. I hope your day goes well and there are no more incidents like the ones at the party. I hope your friend is doing better.
I finished the dishes, only because i needed the egg pan, which is now back in sink. Puttered around last night. Just getting up now.

darn it, i missed you again, Unswamping - but WTG on finishing the dishes and cooking with the egg pan! i went to another island to planned parenthood to see about my female problems. very nice nurse - she agreed that my next step is a dermatologist.
i caught the 5:45 ferry back and did not bring my car, due to the leaking brake fluid and the big hills i would have had to drive. i got a ride to the ferry from my garden mate/friend and she treated me to lunch! the boat home was empty and it was dark, so i had to hitchhike from the ferry. there was no traffic. i finally got a ride as far as the golf course which is 4 miles from my apartment. thankfully i had bought a wool sweater and scarf at the thrift store over there as i was under-dressed and had to walk the entire 4 miles in 40mph winds! that probably saved me! i had gloves with me so that was good. it took 1.5 hrs to do the walk home. i was nervous about a big dead tree branch blowing down on me; the winds were fierce and cutting. i had the forethought to bring a flashlight with me in the event of something like this... so glad i did. i'm still chilled from that eperience but it was kind of thrilling to be walking in the dark on a long winter's night.
i also went to zumba this morning at 8 - and before that i mailed my sis's quilted throw. i hope she likes it. i probably should have tied it too - the quilting is very far apart and i am afraid the batting won't stay put if she uses the washing machine on the quilt.
tomorrow i will make myself mail more calendars. i also hope to be home for at least part of the day and do stuff in the filthy piled kitchen.
my hip and my old piriformis injury is starting to bother me again. i'm oing to have to pace myself, which i am already doing in the "younger people" zumba class. it's a lot more rigorous than the "gold" class, so i just do my own thing at my own pace. - i dont want that old injury to be injured and inflamed again. it still has not healed right after 20 years. bodies! they are fraught with problems!
at least i got plenty of exercise today! i hope i sleep well.

creativechaos great job on getting all that done. Sorry about the long walk in such bad weather. I hope you can rest tomorrow and not inflame that old injury. I hope you sleep well tonight.

creativechaos - goodness, this sounds like my life in my early 20s. What a long walk for you in the cold and dark!

larataylor, it's good that i can still walk! i count it as a blessing. i am sore today, my feet mainly. i went to bed and slept right through. my back always kills me when i do that but i was too tired to get up in the middle of the night and move around like i usually do.
i got an early start this morning. i am packing calendars to mail out to friends and family, and writing out some cards. i went through a little mail and finally opened it. the IRS letter, i need to call about right away. i'm called and was put on hold for 15 to 30 minutes! screw that....i hung up. i guess i should just DO the 2016 forms and get them in before i lose my tax credit money. i will owe for 2018's art sales too. i should just file the years 2016 through 2018 and get it over with! at least i had the foresight to put a little extra in when i filed my 2015 taxes. the forms are buried right now... can't get to any of the forms except maybe 2016, and things have changed so much under this regime i'm not even sure how to file anymore.
i'll update with any more i get done at home or elsewhere as i go through the day.
i NEED to address the disgusting kitchen today.

creativechaos , Re: IRS: If you have any records of a return you filed in the past, you can go online at irs.gov, answer some questions, and input the amount from a specific line on your prior return, and then they will give you online copies of whatever you need.

thanks, CourageouslyLion SeeksSerenity. i tried several times on their website, i really did. now i see they are "down for maintenance" until January 2nd! my phone experiences were also super frustrating. i never got to talk to an actual tax specialist. going to put this off til after the new year. i'm worn out from it.
i managed to pack up 5 calendars and some little gifty items, write out cards for those packages, and get them all mailed out except one which i had written the wrong po box number. fixed it, paid for postage so that will go out tomorrow.
i also turned in all of my apartment recertification papers - at least 2 weeks early - and i actually had all the papers proving income that they needed. i feel good about that. now that i don't work anymore, the paperwork is much easier.
i'm about to get started on some dishes and maybe some dinner.

I kinda loved the story of you walking home in the scary dark! Except for the being too cold part. Smart of you for bringing the flashlight!
Congratulations on getting your certification paperwork turned in! Two weeks early = double the Dancing Bananas!

thank you for the nice kudos, dancing bananas, and encouragement, mylittlescholar!
i've been writing on my blog about the storms coming... supposed to blow 60 mph with 80 mph gusts tonight from the southeast - then that all changes tomorrow as the northeast winds come.
i got a lot done and my back is really hurting. most of my work was in the garden today. i had procured some sawdust and shavings for the dahlias yesterday - that was huge. i sprayed the leaves of tender and evergreen plants with something that will help them not dessicate so bad when the arctic winds hit. did a lot of that yesterday and more today. garden owner had a spare bale of hay which she gave me. somehow i rolled it from her garden to mine and got most of it put down over tender things or things not covered. i still have a big list for tomorrow but that's a relief - the garden is primarily done.
then i went to storage and put the sawdust/shavings in all the dahlia tubs to cover the tubers and clumps; they're in the large unit. some of the clumps are sprouting already! NOOOOO! too early! i don't know WHY i moved all the tubs to the back of the unit which is actually on the east side. (not to mention having to contort through a maze of goat trails and lift the tubs high to get around corners... my rotator injury is also throbbing - i feel like i undid a lot of the progress i had been making this past 11+ months. that's depressing. i covered the dahlia tubs with a cotton sleeping bag and then a poly-filled one. i hope that's enough insulation. with the wind chill and up to 80 mph northeast winds predicted, and lows in the teens, it may not be enough.
there's so much CRAP in this unit, it may help insulate the place but where the big windows were is uninsulated. dahlias can take freezing if they have a dry environment but i do wish i had divided the clumps... that long arduous task awaits me as soon as i can get to it after the storms and very cold weather; the sooner the better.
the apartment is piled, hoarded, and one big trip-hazard. i do NOT relish going into potentially multiple and long power outages in this situation. tomorrow i have stuff to do in the small garden out front and to deal with all the potted plants i want to bring inside, with not a place to put them.
gawd, i need a nap but i dare not take one. i can nap in the tub if i get to take a bath.
i cooked up some chicken tonight and am probably going to make some sort of casserole with beans, chicken, and tortillas. i need to make a soup and to be sure i have plenty of "ready" food on hand.
my plan was to do so much more tonight than i think i'll be able to - before the winds pick up. the rain mixed with snow is supposed to start tomorrow afternoon but we often get our weather a half day before they predict it. hoping it holds off. right now i am just trying to get through this and keeping in mind that i am making these choices; no one is forcing me to work like a slave for my hoarded up plants.
i got one box of fabric over to storage too - the fabric in that box is mostly to donate.
i'm going to make a list for tomorrow, then see about putting together the casserole. if not, there's tomorrow for that. i have a lot of dark chocolate (caffeine) to get through this!
i hope i can make headway in the apartment while being a shut-in. i hope the power and heat stay mostly on. i'm really glad i have a warm cuddly cat - and this forum of supportive people who understand, don't judge, and who cheer all actions great or small.
this hoarding sure makes a lot of work for a person. i won't even talk about the backsliding, but my apartment says it all.
