285 items since I began on the 25th. Started on my pantry today and was horrified to find a carton with eight eggs in it that has been there for at least six months hidden behind several other containers. Apart from that no other hidden horrors except I seem to have a lot mice that my late mother would have said were "as cunning as sh*t-house rats." They eat the bait from the traps without setting them off and last night even managed to get the bait out of a new mains powered electric trap that has never been used before.

ohblondie dont worry about your count. You are doing amazing! You are counting bags, not items. Im sure each bag contained more than one item. Probably more like 20, or more. I dont know what size bags you are using. A grocery bag would hold 15-20 items. Bigger bags would hold even more. Youre doing awesome!

Unswamping..I am using the plasic bags that you bring groceries home in. If I counted pieces of paper and actual items - each bag probably contains closer to 100. I am picked up and cramming in as much as I can and the bags are heavy!! Lots of pieces of paper......I don;t have time to count individual items - I am in too much of a hurry. I used a big drawstring garbage bag yesterday.....that was crammed full. My clothing donate bags are large bags as well. I might be able to count clothing items. I organized three cupboards yesterday to accomade the plastic cups that were lost but have been found! I put in the donate box 5 travel mugs and one rubbermaid quart container. 41 plus 6 = 47

They eat the bait from the traps without setting them off and last night even managed to get the bait out of a new mains powered electric trap that has never been used before. Bait tip: A regular mouse-trap. Put peanut butter underneath the trigger, not on top of it, smushed really tight & close to the spring. They are under there with their heads upside down & don't have the same reaction time to get out when they trigger it. I have used up all my bananas this year, 6 Went shopping in the basement Friday, dragged up about 6 grocery bags of detritus. Sorted & tossed (100) a whole grocery bag of fabric snippets, too small to use. I must have saved them back before I knew cotton wasn't good for baby birds, and then moved them with me 2-1/2 years ago. Processed a week's junk mail, including shredding the shred box. 30 recycle 128 previous +136 068 Recycle 012 Gave 012 Donate 141 trash 005 personal 006 Used Up 244 2/1 total

ohblondie after i posted my previous post, i read further back and saw that you are counting paper by the inch! You are amazing, girl! I hear you on not counting every little slip of paper, every little piece of fluff that gets tossed. Maybe near the end of the year, you can multiply your count by a factor (50, 100, you decide what seems fair) if hitting 2016 is important to you. Just dont bear yourself up or get discouraged that you are not on track, you are getting rid of more than six items a day, you are way ahead of the game. Keep up the good work. You can do it!

Another 27 things in the last two days. I am not counting my 'regular rubbish' just extra stuff I was talking to a work friend today, and I was saying that it is interesting, I hoarded all this stuff, but all of a sudden something is switched in my brain, and I am not having trouble getting rid of it. I do have trouble working up the motivation and energy to clean and sort, but I am not having an attachment to stuff, which is excellent, but intriguing!

Unswamping..sounds fair - maybe by the end I will look at my totals and do the adjustment - at least in my head! I have three bags ready to go to the trash tonight/tomorrow AM. I won't count them til they are actually OTD. Tossed three "to go" containers from the fridge that had spoiled. And a jar of duck sauce that was old. 47 + 4 = 51
