I have cleared out the hallway and bathroom, my dad and I have put all furniture back in the kitchen, most things are put away. The flooring man has to finish a side of the kitchen today, the concrete under it was not dry properly on Tuesday. My dad will move 3 pieces of furniture to their proper place once that is done and I will put things in them when I return on Sunday. The flooring man has started on the hallway and bathroom and will come to finish it next Thursday. clear out the kitchen for the new flooring clear out the hallway and bathroom for the new flooring put everything back in place go to the office re homeowner tax. unpack the last box - the family documents

Hi lucie, are you back yet? Things are moving along for you!
Renewal, good luck with your rooms, are you decluttering or rearranging or cleaning? Or all three?
I'm making pretty good progress on my 2 goals, considering that we're only 1/4 through the challenge. I've done everything I can do on the taxes until the documents come that I'm waiting for, nothing I can do until then. And I went through the plant supplies in the 2nd BR and successfully packed what I'm keeping into one cabinet. I threw out 2 shopping bags of plant stuff, plus several larger miscellaneous things, and even got rid of a bunch of packing supplies from the closet in that room although I don't think I was thinking about the closet when I set the 2nd BR as my goal. So I'm pretty pleased, considering how badly I did on the last couple of 2 month challenges.

way to go lucie..I have been following a random list of 52 things ...that if you do them here and there, Is is like you got your spring cleaning done (without the marathon) This late winter thread reminds me that I really do want to get stuff done while it is cold so that I can enjoy the outdoors when it is not.

Hi I have been meaning to post here and time is going by
Here are my goals
Finish taxes by end of feb
Check 2014 taxes to make sure I did not make a mistake on a credit. (There is a three year limit w IRS)
Clean linen closet
Clean my bedroom closet
Clean front closet.
Spring clean my bedroom
Put Christmas stuff away
Participate in 2017 items away thread
Go to gym 3x week
Make financial decision
Consign dd clothes regularly
So. I have made some progress on linen, front and bedroom closet. Still a ways to go but some progress in each closet
Christmas I had planned to put it all away by MLK day but we had some unexpected fun come our way. Tree is artificial so no hazard. I love Christmas stuff but I am aware I have passed the socially acceptable deadline!
Consigning - have done some. I am hoping this big sale will be held that I can consign at but do far no word.
Have made some good steps regarding getting to gym. Just need to keep at it
2017 items. I like this thread. I need to focus on getting some big stuff out too.
Financial decision. I have called some places to get paperwork but just need to focus and make some hard decisions. This is a tough one!

Yesterday I determined that the weather will be clear for a few days, so I started the process of moving furniture to dd's house. #1. Check with dd to see if trip is OK with her. #2. Round up someone to help me load the chest and dresser in the truck. #3. Clean out the truck. #4. Clean out the dresser drawers & the top of the dresser. #5. Remove the mirror. #6. Drag the dresser into the living room (so my friend will not back up in horror)

Lucie, I can imagine how different new flooring would make your place look--I'm so happy that you're getting closer to finishing your renovation!
Good luck getting the furniture out, Ima!
The 26 HEAVY bags of donations were picked up today, they are gone!! I keep going to my entryway to look at the empty space.

The furniture & various bulky baby things were delivered to dd Tuesday. The trip was awful; I had to stop 4 times to retie the ropes and tighten up the straps. The chest fell over in the truck twice and the last time I stopped I had to move both pieces of furniture and strap & tie everything again. My back was in knots for 3.5 hours (an hour longer than the trip normally takes). I planned to stop on the way back and purchase two tall narrow cabinets for the bedroom but it started raining and rained all afternoon, so I'll get to that in a day or two. When I finally got home yesterday afternoon I just fell over.
Now that the worst part of this project is over I can start cleaning the floor and wall that was under & behind the furniture and get ready to put the cabinets together.

imamess, your trip sounds horrible but I bet you must now feel better with the stuff out of the house. I hope you are physically feeling better now. And I hope getting the new cabinets home is uneventful!

Oh thanks Hollyhock. I shouldn't have whined but it was an awful trip. I have to be at the dentist at 8a.m. I'll decide when I get out of there if I feel like getting the cabinets today. (I'm allergic to the lidocaine). Each cabinet weighs 70lbs, so in order to unload them, I cut the boxes open and bring each piece in the house one at a time. It takes me several hours to put them together since I can't get down on my knees, I have to bend over at the waist and work on the floor (like touching your toes). It takes about as much rest time as it does work time.

I bought one cabinet today and have opened the box in the truck and brought it in the house piece by piece. I'll put it together tomorrow. The store I went to today only had one in stock. That's OK, it's a chain store and there is one even nearer to my house (I just don't like the personnel in that one) and I can buy another next week after I have this one out of the way. It may even be for the best to do one at a time.
At any rate, I'm very encouraged that this challenge is over half over and I will soon have a place to put things in my bedroom instead of piles in the floor.
