Diane, I am not a good example of exercising. The yoga I do is the basic Greeting of the Sun, which I do only twice. It takes just a few minutes and even then I don't do it every day. I really need to do better. I admire hollyhock's persistence when it comes to exercise.

I do this once a year or so.
So you are a pro at speechmaking, ima!
Lucie, I started out my stretching to be just a few minutes a day, and I couldn't even do that either--so I guess we can both keep making exercise goals until we figure out how to be more consistent. Yes, hollyhock makes it priority, which is great. I need to follow one of my favorite sayings, which is--if you really want to do something you'll always find a way--if you really don't want to do something, you'll always find an excuse.
But at least, today, I can report that my tax goal is done--I finished the state tax forms this morning, wrote a check for that payment, and got them both ready to mail when I go out today. I think this is a record for how early I'm finished since I started self-employment. When I got a W-2 and it was easy, I used to file early, but when I started having to figure out all the self-employment forms and charts and policies on my own, I've taken much longer.

dtesposito - WTG on getting your state taxes done EARLY! self-employment is way more complicated than being an employee; we have destination based sales tax in our state - if you sell online that is terrible and a huge time and brain suck. i did rather poorly on last week's goals and already it's mid week so i will try to be realistic on what i can actually accomplish in 5 days. likely not much. the few things accomplished: load of laundry done, medicare stuff done still getting absolutely NO help with the ticket to work or the PASS program from social security; it's very discouraging! going to set that aside for now. Wed. 2/15 through Sunday 2/19 to do: - home:get dishes back into maintenance clear small counter (again) get stove top wiped down. will need deep cleaning; not now though. figure out how to tackle cleaning the oven; it's pretty bad, as are burners and under them on stove top. ditch all spoiled food in fridge clean inside fridge again if it needs it kitchen trash and recycle out scooping (i usually do this at least 2x a day when he's using it.) bunny care for friend starting tomorrow through monday - mostly morning shift, except sunday i have a.m. and p.m. shifts today was my last day of bunny careongoing attempts to heal cat. - keep playing with him and trying to get him better. clothing - sort and release more. bedroom disaster - 15 m. a day (check mark for each day from Wed. on) tooth care - i have completely stopped everything again. LR project A - breaking down into tiny bites. work on it some Storage Units:sort and tidy, set aside what's going OUT mouse traps - bait and set (been averaging every 2-3 days with the traps)buy more fresh cab for mouse issue; seems to work! empty paint cabinet in storage so i can put taller shelf in its place

Since there's only a week and a half left in the Winter challenge, my last 2 weekly goals will have to be something in the 2nd BR. I think this week's will be to finish the PEEPing in that room, meaning that anything that has or can have a storage space is in it. It's sort of a storage room, so it's going to look full, but it can look full and neat, rather than full and chaotic. Then the last few days of the month I will do some cleaning in there.
Tomorrow I will make a list of the areas that need work, so I can do them one step at a time this week.

I was still sick most of last week - just coming out of it now (I hope!) Mid-week I decided to just stop my cold capsules - they were giving me insomnia, etc - and I started feeling better! I did try to exercise a bit - but only went as far as I felt okay. I didn't go to waterfit at all. I managed to get my house cleaned - a bit each day - but nothing on the challenges. Results from last week: Exercise - waterfit x 3? (if feeling better) none - Pilates at least 1 10 minute routine daily 5 out of 7 days, most 10 minutes only DR chairs - recover last chair in DR - recover arm chair that lives in my bedroom Birds - sit with them x 2-3 nights this week to see if they will come out never came out Paperwork (15 minutes a day): - prepare files for 2017 - set up file for incoming tax papers for 2016 - set up containers in DR to sort recent papers - start working on 1 basket of recent papers, 15 minutes a day Zone 5 - bathroom - wash light fixtures , change bulb Zone 2 - LR/ DR - change bulb in DR light - vac LR couch and chairs ON HOLD: Errands - get a proper size crochet hook - hair cut - get 1 more male budgie (cage is ready in LR)

Since I didn't get much done last week, my list pretty much looks the same for this week. I keep procrastinating on any paperwork. These are NOT big jobs, so why can't I get them started? ? So this week's plans are: Exercise - waterfit x 2? (not going Mon.) - Pilates at least 1 10 minute routine daily DR chairs - recover last chair in DR - recover arm chair that lives in my bedroom Birds - sit with them x 2-3 nights this week to see if they will come out Paperwork (15 minutes a day): - prepare files for 2017 - set up file for incoming tax papers for 2016 - set up containers in DR to sort recent papers - start working on 1 basket of recent papers, 15 minutes a day Zone 5 - bathroom - wash light fixtures, Zone 2 - LR/ DR - change bulb in DR light - vac LR chairs ON HOLD until feeling better: Errands - get a proper size crochet hook - hair cut - get 1 more male budgie (cage is ready in LR)

wtg hollyhock on getting as much done as you did with a cold! guafenesin tablets are the best i have found for colds. they thin the mucus and have nothing in them to keep you from sleeping. also faithfully using saline spray helps keep sinus infections at bay. IMO, ANY exercising is better than none - so hollyhock, lucie - you are successes in my book! WTG dtesposito on making a do-able plan for the rest of the month for that 2nd br. i did pretty OK on last week's challenges. i am just happy to be getting anything done and anything in the release boxes. this week's goals are similar; i have a busy week and a hurt hand so we'll see how much i can do; the list may need modification. at some things i am merely inching along like the little inchworm. Mon. 2/20 through Sun. 2/26 - some chores will have check marks for every day i do it, or every 15 minutes of work on it continue daily scooping - i try to scoop whenever my cat uses the box continue playing with cat and giving him what herbs and supplements he needs call my HMO to cancel - medicare starts 3/1! 5 or 6 phone calls and THREE hours of being 'on hold" at 5 agencies, and a bunch of runaround, i am still nowhere with my health insurance.sort in storage unit/s - one checkbox for every hr spent there bedroom PEEP and sort - one checkbox for every 15 min. living room PEEP and sort - one checkbox for every 15 min. papers/mail - one checkbox for every 15 min. keep up with mouse patrol and trapping in storage fill out paperwork for energy assistance LR project A - placeholder/reminder to start working on it soon took 4 boxes of sorted fabric to swap meet and the leftovers will go to thrift. pay phone billkeep up with dishes - checkbox for each day done did poorly with this. need to get back to more regular washing.keep trying on tooth care - any is better than none! - need to recommit every week to this and keep improvingwipe down stove top every day or as needed order some canned food for cat (island-life prices prohibitive and no variety) write letter to the editor i've promised to write for the food bank - need to revise from bullet form into paragraphs, and re-submit.dance on Tuesday night decide if i'm doing swap meet on Sunday i did do it; taking 3 boxes to thrift store tomorrow or tues.

I've been so busy with work and school that I haven't had time to post here. I have 9 days off from work! Yay! Today is day 1. Daily goals: 1. School: Spend about 1-2 hours studying for the final exam and making up a sheet of notes that I will be allowed to use during the exam. It is a World History/Civilizations I class. It covers everything from the stone age until the year 1500, pretty much anywhere in the world, although the focus was on Asia and Europe. She gave us a list of 50 topics that will be covered on the exam. I would like to review and create some notes on 10 per day. I take the Exam next Thursday. 2. Home: My house is very cluttered and has only become more cluttered with my busy life. I would like to declutter areas of the house. I have not chosen what my approach to this will be. I need something flexible, so that if I can't face a certain task or area, I can switch to something else and still be productive. I do best at this type of thing when DH is out, but he has quit his job (which I am not happy about) so he is here all of the time. 3. Finanical: I need to work on getting my taxes submitted AND just realized that I never submitted my DH's medical receipts to my FSA for 2016, and I will lose that money if we do not use it. 4. Health and fitness: Make lots of healthy soup, chili, etc. so that I can meet my weight loss goals, also I'd like to walk-jog for 30-60 minutes per day, as the weather allows. I feel like I should make a chart/table, on this page but last time I attempted that on this forum, I found it a little too cumbersome. And I don't know if I should waste the time trying.
| Schoolwork | Housework | Financial | Fitness/Diet | Saturday | 10 notes done | Sorted papers
A little yard work done | Did not do | 4 mile walk | Sunday | 10 notes done | Sorted more papers
| Did not do | 2 mile walk | Monday | > 10 notes done | Sorted more papers Found a check (money!) | Started taxes! | 2.5+ miles | Tuesday | > 10 notes done | Not much, but a little | More work on taxes done | 2.5+ mile Made Soup!! | Wednesday | Only a little bit left!
DONE! | Will do a little | Was able to get another statement from DH Was able to find 2 other statements I needed | Walked around inside Target with DD, Does that count?
She complained that I parked too far from the entrance. | Thursday | Final Exam: DONE! | Row 7 column 3 | Row 7 column 4 | Row 7 column 5 |
Well, There's a start!

CC, I hope you did well this week, I see several red checkmarks! Ally, how exciting to have a whole week off to work! I tried a chart once too and couldn't figure it out, so I'm envious of yours--I love charts! I finished the decluttering projects in the 2nd BR, so all I have left in there is cleaning. I'm going to be busier than usual with work this next week, so don't want to make any huge goals, but the goal for the first part of the week will be to do some cleaning in the 2nd BR (that goal ends on the 28th) and then the 2nd half of the week, to do a really good bathroom cleaning, including the tub. I keep doing "good enough" type cleaning in there and I want the whole thing to be really clean all at the same time. Diane

dtesposito, I think the key to making the chart is to switch to the preview mode. I didn't switch until after I selected how many row/columns I wanted. I should have added a couple more rows, but I don't know if I can do that now without messing it up. I know when these forums went through their upgrade a few years ago, we'd get errors when we switched back and forth to/from the Preview mode, but now it seems to work...

Thanks to creativechaos for mentioning guafenesin - it was an ingredient in my 'all in one' cold pills. And it was probably the 1 ingredient I really need now. On 2 of my days (this AM being one of them) I am taking the usual capsule, but taking only 1 dose (and I only take 1 of the recommended 2) first thing in the AM. It worked well the other day - I only took the 1 dose which helped and the other side effects had worn off by night time. The cold still lingers but is a bit better every day. Finally Friday I thought I was well enough to go back to waterfit. During the week I had worked up some 'land' exercises to just get my strength up to get through the 45 minutes. It was good to get back. So here are the results of last week's challenges: Exercise - waterfit x 2? (not going Mon.) once only - Pilates at least 1 10 minute routine daily worked out at home 5 of the other 6 days, increasing times as the week proceeded - some cardio DR chairs - recover last chair in DR - recover arm chair that lives in my bedroom Birds - sit with them x 2-3 nights this week to see if they will come out only once or twice, they are all molting right now so just not feeling great themselves Paperwork (15 minutes a day): - prepare files for 2017 - set up file for incoming tax papers for 2016 - set up containers in DR to sort recent papers - start working on 1 basket of recent papers, 15 minutes a day Zone 5 - bathroom - wash light fixtures, 1 out of 2 washed Zone 2 - LR/ DR - change bulb in DR light - vac LR chairs ON HOLD until feeling better: Errands - get a proper size crochet hook - hair cut - get 1 more male budgie (cage is ready in LR)

I'm hoping with this upcoming week to get myself back on track. I was startled last Friday to see that there were only 4 days left in February! In my long range plans I had always put March down as my paper sorting (memorabilia stuff) time, while winter was still upon us. This year I wanted to get it started earlier, but I guess with this cold I lost time and energy. (Note this is about the 3rd year I have planned to do this in March - not even touched the other 2.)
Anyway at that point I decided I wanted to put a 'push' on to handle my 'recent' paperwork (recent being since I moved here 2 years ago and stashed in baskets) by the end of Feb. so that I really can devote March to the memorabilia stuff. So that is the main challenge for me this week - hopefully done by Tues PM but we'll see. Basically everything else (project-wise) will be put on hold now until it's done. I think I have figured out a good sorting system so it will just be a matter of doing it (after I check to see exactly how much of this stuff I have stashed. 2 baskets I think)
And I plan to get back to waterfit 3 times a week, with other days covering things like light cardio, strength training and Pilates. I have found some good 'fusion' type exercises (I think my interpretation of them fits) that combine these types all into 1 routine. Most of these are about 40-45 minutes long. My previous 'land' exercises have only been to 20 minutes, but waterfit is 45. I am trying to do these exercises, but work to my own capacity so that eventually I will be putting in 45+ minutes each day.
So goals (challenges) for Feb 26 - Mar 4, 2017:
Exercise: - waterfit x 3 - other exercise (light cardio, strength-training (with light weights) and Pilates) x 3-4, working on increasing times
Paperwork: - sort 'recent' paperwork (by Feb 28?) - file or toss - shred as needed - prepare for sorting memorabilia paperwork (and start?)
OTHER projects: Birds - sit with them x 2-3 nights this week to see if they come out - rearrange their room once paper-sorting is started - start working on needlepoint on plastic canvas for coasters while I sit with them Bathroom - wash last light fixture - put back both LR/ DR - change bulb in DR light ERRANDS - hair cut - get 1 more male budgie (cage is ready in LR) - oil change on car DR chairs - recover last chair in DR - recover arm chair that lives in my bedroom

I did exercise 6/7, which is quite good and I want to keep up with that. The weather seems to be much nicer this week so I will try to go for a walk. More grocery shopping to do on Wednesday.

I've filled in some more of my chart. I don't know why, but am having more trouble accomplishing these goals than I think I should be. I think I waste time on games on my phone or sometimes I get sucked into stuff on facebook or other internet sites, and before I know it, and hour or two of my time is gone.
I spent time studying. I covered 12 topics, but have decided that I will go back and review the topic of "Caesar" in my notes. There are 5 pages of text on Julius Caesar, and it's hard to summarize all of that in a few brief words... then again I'm not sure if she is going to ask a specific question about Julius Caesar, or the title "Caesar". (We are allowed to have some study notes with us when we take the final.)
Now I'm going to try to organize this huge pile of papers next to me. I've been picking away at it over the past few days. I think the bottom of the pile is 2 years old, maybe older.
