A couple of really annoying inflatable bats that my sons tend to wave around and hit each other with gone. A pen that doesn't work gone. More random cardboard boxes Two unopened and unneeded toys that were Christmas gifts to the kids donated.
Not sure how many items but given that I got rid of a big bag of clothes, I'm going to say 20 so far and go from there.

Went through a couple of boxes in the toy room and threw out about 20 assorted broken or incomplete toys Gave a cute little boy's jacket that I found in there to someone I know who will use it Returned three folding chairs that I borrowed a while ago and forgot about Plus donated 10 items for Ohblondie's 40 day challenge yesterday and another 10 today Returned about 30 files that belong at my workplace and not in my home to their rightful place
So that's about 74 plus 20 previously so I'll say I'm up to about 94. I will try to make it to my first hundred tomorrow.

Hi all I am having some time off work while my youngest son settles into school. I am on Long Service Leave and have been off work for four weeks and have about five more to go. That is the first term of school for my son, here in Victoria, Australia. I am getting really stressed and anxious about how little I have achieved in that time. My plan was to get my house sorted out so that when I go back to work full time in a few weeks, I can get someone in to clean it weekly for a couple of hours. I can't afford a cleaner but it is the only way I know that I can keep the house in order and work full time. I have to tidy up for the cleaner once a week and the house stays reasonably tidy. I have done this in the past but not for the last few years as I have been working part time and just couldn't pay for it. My house is now full of junk and such a mess that a cleaner would run away screaming and never return. Hi there "haywirehousekeeper" Hugs and lots of support from a fellow Victorian (north eastern Victoria). Believe me I know how you feel. I too was a working single mum and the best thing I ever did was to get a cleaner in for 4 hours a week, and knowing that I had to tidy up before she came kept my house reasonably tidy too. Don't stress about how little you have achieved over the past four weeks. Look positively at what you have managed to achieve so far and take it from there. If your youngest has just started school then you are probably still quite young and energetic and five weeks is a fairly good amount of time to do what you need to do. Just remember it doesn't have to be perfect or spotless for the cleaner. For the time being maybe you could just concentrate on de-cluttering the kitchen, bathroom, lounge-room and laundry and close off yours and the boys' bedrooms when the cleaner comes and then spend 15 minutes a day after work de-cluttering each of those rooms. And if you don't already have one, the best time and work-saver any working mum could invest in is a dishwasher.

100 books gone after years of indecision! Took them to the op shop, but did come back with two I found there, oh well, they can go back when I donate the next hundred. 2 computer games, 6 VHS video cassettes and 3 old fashioned audio tapes went too.
59 pages of scribbled genealogy notes checked against computerised family history then shredded.
3 old work diaries (one dating back to 1983) thrown out.
So 173 items out in the past nine days and 1313 out in total to date.
Have decided not to include deleting the spam emails in this total from now on, they can have their own special 2017 total as I still have more than enough stuff to get rid of in general, 40 years accumulation of books, papers and things "I might need one day". As well as my own stuff, everyone who has ever lived here from children, 3 lots of tenants (over 8 years whilst we were away interstate) and various friends who have lived with us temporarily, have all left a pile of stuff for us to "look after" but never reclaimed. This is the year it is ALL GOING!!
