mauve as in greyed-down red
Scholar, to me, mauve is light purple. Light purple, pink and orange are my least favorite colors.
Oust, that's interesting that you dress up for interviews. I would never dream of dressing up for a pet care "meet and greet", but then, I never did any kind of cold advertising, I always got additional clients through word of mouth. I never had anyone decide not to hire me after I came to meet them and their animals, of course, someone was already recommending me, so that probably made a difference.
When I was hiring people to work at the animal shelter, anyone who dressed in really formal, expensive-looking clothing for the interview actually had me suspecting that they wouldn't be able to handle the job. We had a small shelter, very hands on, you got pretty dirty there. Quite often when someone came in looking like they were interviewing for a corporate type job, I could tell from the way they barely touched the animals that they were not really interested in doing that kind of work. Maybe they were interviewing so they could keep their unemployment up, or something? I don't know, but they were not the hands on, animal care type of person.
One woman came in in summer wearing a long-sleeve, heavy shirt. She was so wonderful, I hired her on the spot, and before she accepted the job she said--I just want to let you know that I have tattoos up and down my arms, would that be a problem working here? I asked her if they were tattoos that could be considered offensive in any way (my immediate thought was a swastika, or something similar). She said no, they were just decorative. I told her it wasn't a problem. Well, she turned out to the be best hire I ever did--long-term, excellent employee. I can honestly say that if she had shown up without the long sleeves and I had seen the tattoos from the start, it would not have influenced me one way or another. I still would have hired her on the spot.
Of course, if she had shown up with a tattoo of a swastika, it WOULD have influenced my hiring decision. And our situation was pretty unique, most places have more stringent standards about how they want their employees to look. Which is why I cringe when I see a very young person getting a tattoo that will be there for life unless they undergo a painful, expensive procedure to remove it. But I guess that's yet another discussion for another day.
Next:
I'm going to spend 10 minutes on my computer desk and 10 minutes on DR PEEPing. And move the laundry to the dryer.

Hi Diane and Scholar! Yes I need to make some progress here today. The weekends tend to go to heck for me, especially with tomorrow being a longer day. My young co-worker was having some mental health issues and was out last week. She's back tomorrow but my boss and I agreed that the 4 am shift could be stressful for her to return to on her first day. So I am doing 4 am to 1 pm again. It's not a horribly long shift. It's just early and I come home tired.
Ta Da Gathered dirty dishes and laundry from K's room Clean bedding on K's bed Laundry rotated Dishwasher unloaded, loaded and running Recycling gathered - ready to go outside
To Do Take kitchen recycle & trash outside Take extra boxes out and break down Fold & put away 1 basket clean laundry

That makes sense, Diane. Kind of you to take that early shift, Angie.
Got laundry flipped again, took my shower and got dressed, got the lotions on my face and hair, and now to do the makeup.
Then we'll be doing the big installation!

I agree completely. The clothes can't be to much, but certainly matching with no Jean's and shoes not sneakers.
We are trying to get Bill's paid but he thinks the computer has a virus

UGH!!!!!! SCREAMING MANIACALLY IN MY HEAD>>>>>>>
My supervisor gave my worker instructions on how to do a report (without including me as part of the process) My worker did the report Supervisor said to write in in the reverse...so instead of saying you got 6 out of ten right, it is you got 4 out of 10 wrong. She submits the report Supervisor says to write everything in reverse. So instead of getting 4 out of 10 wrong, you got 6 out of 10 right. RIGHT BACK TO TEH WAY TEH REPORT WAS INITIALLY WRITTEN
OK - so everyone was standing by my desk while we discussed this.
When she went to leave, my supervisor picked up all of the papers on my desk and looked through them then put them down and walked away. Thinking perhaps she had set them there?
And by the way - the retirement date has been pushed from October to sometime in 2020. She has to work so that she can buy a 20,000 or more dining room set. She can't find one at an estate sale that she likes.
4:30 cant come soon enough
Screaming rant is over

Ohblondie, I am so sorry that you have to put up with this woman longer, I'm sure you were counting the days until her leaving date. I think this is proof that higher-ups don't know what's going on, or don't care--if they knew she was a terrible manager they could have told her that since she chose her leaving date plans are in the works to replace her so she couldn't stay any longer. I get that it's hard to fire people in government/union jobs, but once you officially choose your retirement date it seems like they would be able to hold her to it if they wanted to. Obviously they don't want to. I'm going to work on the bunches of CDs that I have in the living room, they are in various stages of deciding to get rid of them, but that whole project seems to have ground to a halt. I need to figure out what is what, and maybe pack some away with labels if I need to reexamine them. I need to start decluttering the odds and ends in the living room. Diane

I'm getting excited, we are at the fun part of "curating"... still a lot more work, but I like arranging art, its kind of like scrapbooking, except on a giant scale. We put down tarps, and have all of DM's acrylics on the ground, to see what she has, and what goes with what. Then we will put the stuff under glass up. Then the labeling and pricing.

Scholar, sounds like you're having some fun amidst the stress of getting ready.
Magda, you're making the most of your evening despite the wrong information about the event. I'll bet you're glad the weekend's starting.
I managed to get some of the difficult decision things off of the mantel, but then the phone calls started, I was on the phone for a long time. I've had dinner, and now have to get ready for bed.

yeah, I had no idea I would enjoy this so much! which is a good thing! if I can actually *sell* some art, then this might be a career option for me. DM is thrilled, because she hates this part.
I sorted out the stuff under glass, about 26 pieces, and now DF is installing them. I have to finish sorting out the big acrylic pieces, and have an idea about how to set up the wire frames for the small stuff. Another hour of daylight to work in.
Meanwhile, I found cardstock for DM, who is working on the labels. We've all had a snack, which helped.
