J just got on the bus. I am going to go get myself ready and head to work. I have been moving around so oddly this morning. I texted my boss and said I would be in around 11 instead of 10.
Have a great day everyone!!

Oh, that would be a nightmare for me. My friend who has asthma had smokers underneath her for a while and it was horrible. Luckily those people didn't stay long.

I'm pleased to get my big pile of filing supplies sorted, that's another category I was not looking forward to.
I am going to hang up the laundry and then stop for lunch.

I am trying something new...to log my time in 1/2 hour increments to see, in an objective way, how I spend my time and how much time I am physically in bed. So, two things.
I am trying to come up with some useful categories as the space on my log-in to write in is quite small. It's also useful to just get big picture, not a forensice analysis! Feedback would be helpful. I am retired, work on my husband's business and direct my own time. During winter I tend to hibernate and spend too much time in bed, napping, browsing on internet.
So far, these are the categories I came up with: N = nap BTS = back to sleep or when I wake up very early, spend time on screens, but then fell back asleep (tracking time I spend in bed is important as it's an issue). I don't nap sitting upright, always in bed.
CL = Cleaning PEEP - general picking up. Sometimes I pick-up and clean a spot or two, but if the 1/2 hour is mostly spent PEEPing then I'll mark it as such.
FP = Food Prep of Meal Clean-up. Basically kitchen mess that happens every time food is involved. E = Eating
ST - WR = Screen Time - work-related ST - VI = Screen Time - various interests
CWO - W = Communication with others - work related CWO - P = Communication with others - not work related (Personal)
T = Travel Time Err = Errands (bank, groceries, bills drop-off, car gas-up, medical appts, etc.)
R = Reading for pleasure or interest which I want to increase TV = watching a show with DH as I otherwise do not watch TV SP = Spiritual and Meditative Time EX = Exercise/Walks/Stretch/Strength
FUN = almost zero right now, so I need to track what my idea of fun is (e.g., my neglected hobbies)
FAM/FR = weekly visit with GK, phone calls to reconnect with friends and family, etc. A walk with a friend would be logged here, rather than as EX for Exercise.
DC = Decluttering or anything related to DC from start to finish (e.g., bag-up, drop-offs) Acq = Acquiring anything other than basic needs of groceries. This will help track mindless shopping as I don't really need anything.
PW = dedicated time to dealing with paper mountain, backlog, tax stuff
PC = Personal Care
LOG = when I actually put all the screens or books down to Go to Sleep!
Out of Bed for the Day = time would be highlighted in a marker color.

Next for the afternoon:
Look up annual financial info per DH request
Write check for accountants and get that mailed (in Canada we can't leave it at our mail box, so I'll get a walk in as well)!
Get clean laundry off of floor and fold clothes and put away before they become dirty agaun. Hold off on doing more laundry as I don't want to interrupt the flow of my day and we have enough clean clothes.
Tax Receipts and enter
Read for 1/2 hour at least
Put dishes through dishwasher
Put away the flour and rice I took out of the cupboards to see what all I had (for upcoming baking and grocery store list)
Sweep downstairs floors in prep for washing floors
Wash floors
Be grateful at all times, even while I am work, for a DH, my Faith, a warm house, and family/friends.

Hello itsy! I think it's a wonderful idea to keep track of your time. When I supervised several full time people at the animal shelter I would try, once a year, to have everyone keep track of their time in 10-minute increments. It was time consuming, and everyone grumbled about it, but most people said afterwards that it was helpful to notice how much time they wasted without realizing it.
I've done it myself at home, but I must admit, not recently--now that I'm mostly "retired", I thought it might be a good idea to do it again, but I'm finding that now that the cats are gone and the very time consuming care of them is no longer necessary, I'm getting a lot more done without having to keep track of time.
While eating lunch I started going through a big bin of my Christmas cards--my own, plus some that were given to me this past year. I know I can find more to give away in the little library, and I want to get that done now before it's too late for them to be helpful to people. So, I will continue with this project now.

itsybitsy great idea! I have logged my time for many years. I found it to be an extremely helpful tool!
I started with five categories, and got up to ten. The hardest part is adding everything up. I did mine by hand. if you make a speadsheet, then everything could be added up for you, which would be even awesomer!
I have numerical codes that I enter in a separate column after the first two columns (15 min increments and description). At the end of the day, I total the number of 15 min increments for each number, and enter that in another small chart. I can post a screenshot on my blog if you are interested. It will also show my ten categories.
I have been quite distracted by the TV. And having an extra person in the house who needs my attention is hard as well. My anxiety is going up, and I'm behaving like a wounded animal. Wish I could calm down the lizard brain!!!
But I did clear off a cart in my office so it could be cleaned off and moved to the master bath. cat is sleeping in the bedroom. Maybe I should focus on the decor?

I got interrupted by a LONG call from my senior client. She started out saying she was calling to ask for medical advice. For her, not for her animals. Now, every time she ever asks me for medical advice I tell her I'm not a doctor and if she's worried about something she should call her doctor. Even if I think it's something minor, because I don't want to take responsibility for anything to do with her medical issues. Well, okay, one time she had a tiny puncture mark on her arm, which she said came from a cat but she didn't know if it was a nail or a tooth. It was clearly not infected so I told her to watch it for a day. Then the next day she asked me again, and it was healing, so I told her I thought it was healing.
But, that was the only time.
Anyway, I ended up telling her this time that if she was worried she should call her doctor. I think she knew I was going to say that, she just sounded lonely and wanting to talk. There are times like this, when she's nice, that I feel very sorry for her. But, I've tried as hard as I can to help her and she won't let me help her in the way she needs, so I have to not feel bad.
Now I'm going to get back to the Christmas cards.

You are very kind and patient, Diane. I need to borrow some of that from you. Good thought on the Christmas Cards. I have mine out to make sure I use them this year. I bought some handmade ones, at a crafts fair.
Done: Walk and mailed cheque. No rain and now the sun is out!
Folded Clothes and put away. I did put the laundry in for next load...I think I am a bit compulsive about the laundry. I've changed the cycle to 41 minutes, total. When it was 15 minutes, I was jumping up to always deal with laundry and it was not letting me concentrate or relax on the task on hand. Also, the 15 minutes wasn't enough to get things really clean. For instance, the wipe-down towels for the shower still smelled musty after coming out of the wash, even with enough soap.
Put dishwasher on.
Put flour and rice away. Used up two partial bags to put a wild rice and brown rice combo to soak. I'll use it for part of dinner tonight.
Went out to my nearly-done-garden and found a few Rudbeckia (coneflowers) that were still good. Clipped a few, along with some choisya ternata (similar to mock orange but this is the 'Sundance' variety, so bright citreon leaves). Not sure it will last in an arrangenent inside, we'll see. This was 5 minutes in the FUN category plus personal care for my enjoyment all afternoon while I work on the paperwork. Looks like I am delaying that job slightly. Back to work!
@ mylittlescholar thank you for the tip on how to tally more quickly at the end of the day. I am more of a spreadsheet gal. Great idea!
Next up: Receipts sorting. Look up info for DH

Finished the look-up info for DH, which included contacting the accountant's office for the encrypted password. Finally saved the information we received back in September to the cloud. It wasn't so big a deal as I had it in my mind to be. All is well.
Two minor irritants: Our dryer is acting up so I had to reset it to another cycle and hope this one dries better. It's backed me up in the laundry department a bit.
Second, my mouse batteries need changing. I'm going to do that next.
Next up: receipts (gah!) and entering.

Dryer setting (new) is working better. I also replaced the mouse batteries with DH showing me how (we have set things each does, but I'm trying to break the dependency cycle.
Did some receipt sorting but have not entered yet.
Leaving now to do some errands. I want to get there and back before rush hour traffic hits!

That's wise itsy, it's much safer when everyone knows how to do everything!
After I finished the Christmas cards, my sister called and talked for a very long time. I worked with plants for a bit, then watched news.
I'm going to go through the apartment now PEEPing what I can, then I'll figure out dinner.
