This is another quiet day, cloudy, chilly. DD1 will help me get water jugs refilled, then transferred to smaller jugs for the cats and smaller water bottles for us and stacked in the powder room. Always a job but satisfying in that I can see a large amount accomplished and it makes me feel more secure having a good supply of fresh water.

Hi danny and scholar!
I've just been walking around doing some things that need doing, the dog has gone out twice more after the morning visit, so I'm not sure what's going on there. I had lunch and a tv break for another episode of Astrid. I washed all the dog bedding this morning, while down in the basement I was pondering the mystery of the gloves.
Last early spring I had a set of cabinets in the basement that was waiting for me to dismantle into small pieces so they could fit in the garbage can. I had put other things on top of them in the meantime. So when I was finally ready to dismantle them I emptied off the top and there was a pair of well used insulated gloves among the other items. I thought, oh, the handyman left his gloves here. So a month or two later when he came I showed him the gloves, and he said they were not his. So then I thought, oh, the furnace guy must have left them last fall. So, all this time later, I asked the furnace guy if they were his and he said no! He said he almost never wears gloves and not that warm insulated kind because they are too thick for him to do any work. Other than me, these are the only two people who have been in this basement since the cabinet was put down there. In fact, they are the only people that have been in the basement the entire time I've lived here except for a gas company rep the time the dryer was leaking gas--and he never left the corner of the basement where the dryer was, not to mention that the cabinets were not down there at the time. So...a pair of mystery gloves. I left them there, I will ask the handyman again although if he couldn't remember them last spring I doubt he will have a better memory now.
I did some more cleaning in the bathroom, and I pulled out my drill bits and my plant pots that don't have drainage holes, so that I can ask if I have bits that are appropriate for drilling through non-plastic plant pots.
I'm tired now but will look around to see if I want to do anything else yet today.
Diane

Diane, Yes, I bought a nice Math book from Amazon because I had forgotten a lot of the rules for Algebra which I used to love. The book starts with regular Math though so I just started at the beginning. I am now up to fractions which I enjoy.
I am so tired because I was way too busy today. I did the dailies and some laundry. Put out a slew of trash to the curb. Washed some little decorative dishes I found in the attic. Brought some things down from the attic.
My big project for today was to work in my doom room, the den. I cleared off the loveseat which had piles of stuff on it. Trashed some things and put away the rest. Got a lot of Latte fur off of it. Covered it with 2 big old towels because I couldn't vac it today. It involved a lot of sorting pictures, papers, etc. Looks better.
I brushed Mocha today, long overdue, He tried to nip at me when I was pulling on knots, but wasn't too bad overall. A ton of fur came off. he needs more, but he'd had enough for today.
Called Rich, handyman and he will get back to me. DD texted me this morning and we did a few texts. I texted my DS at noon and we did a few.
Did some PUPA in DR . Took a shower and washed my hair. Trimmed toenails some.
Brought in mail; it is so cold out. Processed that. Talked with my BFF in CT. Cooked dinner.
I hope everyone is doing well and we can all be productive this week.

I dont think I posted over the weekend - but here is a brain dump of all that I did, well that I can remember
I have been gathering and trying to move out all that I can (parents house) the person who is getting some of the stuff has failed to return calls I keep finding more and more cool antique stuff I got the pallets and some of the stuff for DD to her house I got the metal trash cans and hoses and chicken wire to DS's GF. She has chickens and will use it all I have gotten two or three carloads out I have gotten stuff out of storage and to the designated people (like the toaster oven and dust buster to my son) I have spent time in my house getting the kitchen sinks cleared out I washed the gross cleaning rags then I found more I cleared out under my sink to work in the extra cleaning supplies from my parents (I combined bottles where I could) I got my dad's clothes washed and hung Took my dad to an appt which wasted half a day Did see a niece at that appointment and she was lovely (unlike her sister or father) I went through three bigger boxes in my Glam Room and tossed some things and kept some things but got the gross boxes to the trash Huge pile at the top of the stairs to go through - I think three bags/boxes of trash and recyclables I have even more clothes to be donated, and some bedding
I cleared off a set of shelves that son had indicated he wanted. He changed his mind - so now I am deciding what to do with them. I like the empty space where they were, but they are perfect to hold DH's powerade bottles
I got DS's jeans washed and several loads of ours washed. I tried to get clean clothes all put away I did lots of PUPA and it felt good
Still to do Ongoing jenga with boxes upstairs move the last shelves into the glam room
No rest for the weary....onwards and upwards

So you all have been patiently following along in my ongoing retirement saga
I had applied to retire mid January About a week prior, I pulled my papers and adjusted to an April date Someone along the way did not get the message I have been deactivated in our electronic time keeping system and I have been advised that I have had a "life event" and I need to select my insurance
I am on the phone with retirement ow trying to get a letter that confirms I did not retire and to reinstate me. Estimated wait time is 59 minutes....
This is my sign from the universe that I should have walked away

ohblondie oh no! Hope you get it all sorted out today. What a blunder someone did. (At a previous employer, I switched jobs to a diff division. HR mistakenly deactivated my 401k contributions and my FSA… I was able to fix it but ugh) hope you can fix pronto I am still in a highly anxious state. I have more work than I can do and it is all really unpleasant stuff. I am proud though because I am keeping with with my shiny sink at bed, litter cleaning, deal w mail, sweep floor. I also walk puppy for about an hour when I get home from work. Last night I mopped kitchen floor I was able to fix a mistake I did at work!!! I am so glad- I thought up a good solution and my mistake did not have to go up the food chain to leadership. Phew phew phew DD is struggling again. She is in a hard major but does not want to change it. I am angst filled on her behalf. catcats so cool you are doing algebra I am so tense I could cry!!!! Taking deep breaths….I have three really hard things to do today plus get hime to deal w puppy I’m in over my head. Also there has been another death in my extended circle. This is 5 since December.

ohblondie I am so sorry to read about the big mistake with retirement. I hope that 59 minute wait time on the phone is less than 9 minutes.
on all the work you accomplished over the weekend!!
I have been greatly encouraged by flora 's blog as she chips away, sometimes only maintenance, sometimes not as much as she would like but always accepting and moving easily to a little more the next day. That kind of slow and steady progress is what makes all the difference.
With that in mind, today I will do a little pupa in each room, whatever jumps out and give myself a pat on the back. I have been so tempted to be down on myself ~ oh, Danny, here it is the end of January and what have you done, you blew the whole month. Wow, you blew the month before that too, and all of last year and the past 20 years and on it rolls.
Back to my inching along, that will work.

After about 30-40 minutes I had an option to electronically "hold my place in line". I punched in my phone number and about 30-40 mins later they called me back.
She emailed me the letter I needed. this letter was mailed USPS on 1/12/24 and my office ever received it. I cannot imagine an emailed copy not being acceptable but people are weird.
I have to meet my supervisor in 9 minutes. I am wondering what I did to screw up now.
Bree - we always worry about our kids - even when they are adults. I will keep your daughter in my heart and pray for her. And all other young adults out there who are working hard!

Good morning everypony!
Diane I hope the owner of the gloves pitches in! reve I am so impressed with your routine! it is inspiring reve I hope you get some fun in today although that sucks about your retirement snafu ((( bree))) you are a hero! I hope your anxiety eases. so not fun.
last night my dad said that "after he finished with his paperwork" he would like to get a keyboard lesson on chords he asked me about several years ago. It was interesting to see what it looks like from the outside when someone is essentially denying themselves pleasure because we think we must finish our work first.
I said he is never going to finish his paperwork, we die with unfinished paperwork, and he laughed and hopefully we both with give ourselves a break and share a moment.
coming home from the vacation refreshed reminded me how important it is. yesterday was National Plan Your Vacation day. I support y'all in planning something fun to look foward to!
with that said, I need to get back to my morning routine! we've got a couple atmospheric rivers coming in. our town has invested in fabulous flood control around the river, but they still set up a sandbag station!
