g'night Diane, and the cheat I learned those math problems was to change the pluses to minuses and the minuses to pluses. I can't remember why that worked, but I think the number line is involved, catcats! that was New Math, but now we are on to New New Math and New New New Math! Which is why I majored in communication.
we went for a long walk by the river. I had no idea such a lovely walk was so close! we went at dusk, so it was a birdwatching paradise in the marsh.
Starlings
Canadian Geese Ducks--either Mallards or Teal, it was too dark
Gulls Crows Redwinged Blackbirds Snowy Egrets a Pelican and a Red Tailed Hawk !!!
it wore me out, though. I made a quick dinner, as DVD had already put something in the crockpot that isn't ready yet. I pretended I was done for the night, but DVD asked about tomorrow's errands and appointments, which start early, so I need to do some prep tonight.
I think I'll go yammer on my blog...

Yes, MLS, it does involve the number line and I understand part of it, but there is a part that I can't wrap my head around. You say it was "the New Math" and I wonder if I really was not taught it in this particular way since I came along WAAAAY before the New Math which was when my youngest was in school. You are right about changing pluses into minuses, etc, but one part of the instructions is very unclear, even though I get the first part. I am rather upset by this, which may not make sense, but I am a student at heart, and I hate to be unable to get something. Thanks for your input.

I am convinced that when I was in elementary school I missed learning a couple of the basic building blocks of math. therefore, without a strong foundation, everything I learned was shaky and tenuous. Or else I just hated math and would rather sit and read a book. Which I guess I often did during math, hence my lack of a good foundation!!
Busy day today - have a great one everyone!

Hi Diane, Sci FI or Non-Fiction Science/History/and the combo of Archeology books usually . Happy Tuesday Everyone!!! I have not looked outside at the weather yet today. Everything got canceled and I have been hearing the snow plows running about. reve lots of work done . catcats believe it or not I used to think in mathematics like it was another language back in the day. So many math classes at college/grad school. I have always liked math . I am not sure how I would do with New Math or New New Math. I was taught the classics The Master bathroom is looking better. Next up I need to clear everything out so I can sweep, vacuum, mop the floors. Then do some detailing.

Good morning ohblondie and TML!
That's right TML, now I remember you mentioning archeology! So you have a snow day today?
I slept okay and got up with my 6am alarm, now I'm waiting for the library to open and trying to delete some book related emails but it's slow going. When I get a new book email, most of the books are just released or haven't been released yet, so if I want to read them I have to go on the library wait list, sometimes for months. When I am reading a book email from 2020, these books have now been out for a while so they're available right now. Three of the books I was interested in just this morning show they're available on my own library's shelf, I wouldn't even have to wait for them to transfer from another library. So...in some ways the older book emails are even more dangerous. I need to remind myself to only read the best books, because there are so many of them out there that sounds interesting. There were two books I started in the last week and decided not to continue, they were okay but not great and in the past I would have continued reading, but I have to be more selective. It helps that the last four books I read fit the "A" rating category, that reminds me of how I feel when I'm reading an "A" quality book, I look forward to getting back to it and read it pretty quickly.

Good morning everypony!
TML, I think math is a different language! I remember the thrill I got when I started to get fluent in spreadsheets. basic arithmetic is a challenge, so having that automatically calculated enabled me to step into that world.
woke up at 4:30. got up at 6:00. pretty sore from yesterday's walk.
last night I put away stuff from the crafting party and did a few exercises. selected today's outfit and pulled some documents I need to bring this morning.
ALSO DONE: caffeinated updated log
checked online balance transferred $
checked email printed agenda
checked calendar checked notifications and updated
NEXT UP: dishes bath get dressed pack up meds

Good morning scholar! I was envious of the list of birds you saw on your walk, because of the ones I have never seen, but I realized that five of the nine birds listed are ones that I see here! I don't see ducks, blackbirds, egrets or pelicans. I always wanted a pet duck, or two...
I'm back from the library, it was pretty cold out when I left the house but the sun came out and it feels warmer now. When I got home my decluttering client called me, and we talked for quite a while.
So now it's time to get to work.
First project, repotting something.

I just went on a potting spree!
I repotted a cactus, and I potted up 2 pothos cuttings into one pot, several tiny kalanchoe babies into two different pots, and I finally put half the dragon fruit cuttings into a pot, I still have half of them to go.
Then I fed the dog and took a short reading break with her.
One more list before lunch.
Next:
Take garbage can out to the street Empty kitchen recycle bin outside 10 minutes refilling pet food jars Vacuum something

glad you get to see the birdies, Diane. I think I appreciated them more realizing the unique ecosystem I live in. California is so diverse in that respect.
Am back from my appointment. updated my Feb challenge. have a couple hours until my next appt. I think I could do some work creating homes for things that would make a big difference visually, and give me a space for a round of crafting.
It would be good to eat--and probably do some laundry. make a shopping list etc. w/ DVD.

ugh too much coffee, and it was pretty awful to boot. So I did some digital coloring... then finished up putting the LR away and more or less back together. Brought the DR chairs back in from the patio, as it is going to rain. encouraged DVD to go out and bring something in. He has been on his phone all day, except when playing taxi.
cat is on the bed, so I haven't made it. now to make some room on the craft table so I can make one more valentine. Then we gotta go.

I've had automatic billing with Comcast for a while now, with a credit card number. If you do automatic payments, you got a $10 per month discount. They discontinued that for credit cards starting this month, now you only get a $5 discount unless you switch to a deduction from a checking account. My first thought was, I don't want Comcast to have my bank information--it's bad enough trusting them with my credit card number, but there are legal protections with a credit card. I have no idea how much legal protection there is if someone gets my bank information and hacks my bank account. Then I thought, well, $5 per month is $60 per year, that's a lot of money. THEN I realized that I get a cash back reward with my credit card, and when I subtract that from $5 it turns out I'm only paying $1.10 per month. Is it worth that for peace of mind? Or maybe I should research how much legal protection there is for my checking account.
I can't remember if I mentioned here that Comcast sent me a couple of emails telling me to update my equipment for free, for faster internet speed. I don't need faster speed most of the time, except for days like yesterday and today when it slows down considerably, that happens occasionally. I wouldn't mind new equipment except that they will A) send it to me through the mail and I will have to figure it out for myself, and B) it's very unlikely that any new equipment will just work perfectly without any sort of problem. But I guess eventually I'll have to do it.
And my contract is up in April which means another call to them where they lie to me about what's included in the cost.
I hate Comcast.
Next I am going to do PEEPing until it's time for dinner.

Not such a productive day today, but I was out late for work and then dinner with bf's family and promptly fell asleep on the couch when I got home. Mum is planning to come over on Thursday so I will probably make up for it tomorrow!
