Does anybody know how to clean ballpoint pen scribblings from microfibre cloth? My 2yo DD has recently "decorated" our sofa We tried to erase it by Magic Eraser Cleaning Sponge, but it took half an hour to clean 2 inches, and we have several feet of drawings! Does anybody have a better idea?

This is so funny, but I thought you meant you wanted to clean a pen! I wondered, why would anybody want to clean a pen, and what could it possibly be dirty with, . But I am sorry, I have no advice about how to get ink out.

Hair spray removes ink! Blot spray blot spray blot spray .... Cheap hairspray...w/SD Alcohol in it works the best. Removes all permanent ink and magic markers on anything. Use paper towel underneath cloth, spray, then blot with a paper towel on top. Takes longer if the clothes have gone through a dryer but it doesn't matter...just takes more patience to remove. Have tried straight alcohol but it hasn't worked as quickly for me. Oops, mornings not good for me. On the couch. Just try to spray directly on the ink spot and blot immediately with paper towel. Not too much around the area. Sometimes, like on silk, there will be a stain, like a circular water stain around the former stain. Sometimes distilled water on a damp cloth squeezing the material will remove the ring stain if it does form. Hope this isn't too confusing.

I agree...hairspray...cheap hairspray...like Aqua Net. Nothing fancy. The fancier it is, the less it works.
Also, I think Carbona used to make a remover treatment for ink in one of those teeny little yellow bottles sold in the laundry detergent section. Their specialized treatments always work well. But test first in an inconspicuous area, especially with a sofa.

Thank you all! You give me hope. I'll definitely try the above, and report back the success!

HAIR SPRAY. My daughter went crazy on our NEW microfiber couch 3 years ago. The hair spray saved the day. Can't even see a hint that it ever happened.
Important tho... spray the ink. and lay paper towels on it and just let the ink get sucked up.. don't rub!
works wonderfully.

Reporting back: Well, I first started with alcohol and rubbing, and the scribble faded a bit, but not completely. Then I went and bought a hair spray (Schwarzkopf, 3 weather, extra strong), and sprayed-blotted-sprayed-blotted for some 15 times, but the scribbling was still very visible. Looking back to the alcohol rubbed spot - now that it all dried up, the ink was hardly visible. So I rubbed the rest of the armrest with alcohol and white cloth. It looks much better! (and the couch is slightly tipsy, hick!) When you look at it from the doorway (2 meters away) you can't see it. Only when you come near, then you can see that once a toddler scribbled on it, but mom came and did her best to clean it up! Thank you all again for the tips!
