he was at the bottom of the container and it was just crumbs in there. He could not get out...I thought what should I do? I picked the container up and walked to BR to flush mouse down toilet...missed the toidy and he hid in bathroom for awhile then I scared him out and let him get away...time to bait the poison areas where dog cannot get to them again. I have some special poison ex wife turned me onto from farm store stuff....it works well. I hate dealing with mouse turds! I am so wanting to kill all them critters now...before it gets cold and they want inside warmth. Hugs BTT

Since he/she was in the bottom of the container and could not get out, why didn't you just carry the container outside and let him/her free? That would have been the humane and easy thing to do... The mouse is just another living creature (like humans) trying to survive, as Nature intended. Why murder him/her? What is the name of the special poison? For one of my garages, I have a large mouse hole and I went through almost 8 trays of stuff in a week's time. I have a large field and trees that they could be hiding in. Wednesday, I put two trays inside the garage by the hole, and three trays outside. If I plug the hole with metal, they will probably chew another hole. It is a losing battle.

Peach I wanted the little breeding mouse to die because there will be 50 more in three months....so it just made sense to kill the mouse since I could not sterilize it if I could have I might have been happier that he lived...he did live you know... I tried to point the bucket into toilet to flush him down it and just allow him to live in sewer pipes without killing him but when I aimed he jumped and missed the water...hit lid of seat and took off for cover...sat in BR for awhile until I scared him out of there.... Mice breeding so quickly when you have two your going to have bunches if you do not act on stopping them from invading your space...my solution is poisoning them....I am dead set against invasion of mice again...when I had birds in another apt years ago I had so many mice I had a hole chewed in wall behind couch and the birds would sit on their food dish to keep the mice out of their seed....it was such a squalor memory....I hated that and this house does have mice...so it is time to poison again...they tote it out to the nest...then feast on it and gone mousies.... hugs bigtimetroubles if only I owned an Owl and could let him handle my mice things would be different natural solution rather than poison...

the name of the poison is called Havoc...it is small pellets in bag from farm store...it is supposed to be used in container but I do not have that part of the baiting system....so I just pour out the pellets in places the dog cannot get to them....hugs bigtimetroubles

OMG PEACH THAT Was HILARIOUS!! Bigtimetroubles.... Ah, Sorry to Hear your Having Issues With Mice. I had a Run in with a Possum last week, A skunk Sprayed My dog Last week, and At this Point if i see another critter that Dont BELONG in my home im MOVING! ROFL.... I own 2 Mice By the way. You could always Catch them and Give them to Someone who Has Pet snakes IF you really hate mice. Oh and I would watch out cause IF a Mouse eats any type of Poison Then Your DOG might EAT THE MOUSE when it dies and it Could Hurt the Dog. (Possibly) You NEED A CAT! I have 7 Now and They love to Chase Mice, Preferably The Ones That Run around the House in Hampster balls ! good LUCK!!

I am NOT a cat person...I have allergies seriously that cause eyes to water and itch and stuffy nose type stuff, I know from visits to sisters who had cats...now only the one who is 400miles away has cats... I have not had problems with the dog eating dead mice...have used this poison many times and no problems with it. I have yet to start dispursing the Havoc on the mice...oh that sounds so fun....

I'm with you Big, I had a mouse infestation last year and it's not fun. Discovered there is a hole in the wall underneath my sink that predates my arrival here, and I'm pretty sure they decided to scamper in to escape either extreme heat or the falling temperatures.
So yes, killing them is fine.
I found that Jif peanut butter as bait on a regular old mouse trap works well, but it's always a shock to open a drawer or cupboard and find a smashed mouse. Even weirder in the middle of the night to hear "SNAP" and know that someone just went to the mousehole in the sky.

OMG PEACH THAT Was HILARIOUS!! Please don't mention snakes.. a 4 ft black one somehow made it into my bird room last Sun. night and swallowed my dear 5 week old canary and strangled his dad. The baby was beautiful- a deep rosy orange- and had already fledged. Dad was a rose ivory and a very devoted father. The white mother is crying and sitting on 3 eggs-was 5..another bad scene... but I don't know if any are viable. I helped hand feed the poor baby. I'm still reeling.

alas- there is more to a mouse than being just nature- they can do a lot damage including starting fires if they chew through some electrical etc but the worse thing is that they carry disease - we have some field mouse in alberta that have invaded spaces and sickness has cause many human deaths-( from cleaning the poop and urine) it is a terrible sickness- far worse than the swine flu except humans cannot spread it to human- we do not let mice live in our house and taking outside is not the answer as they just come back in-------because we do not know the kind of mouse we have clean with masks and not vacuums etc so we do not breath any thing in---It costs money and health and time. alas nature does not belong in our homes or surrounding our homes- and nature in a house causes squalor-- I vote for the cat too but have to use the poison right now-

I have a cat and I used to have mice. The cat only PLAYED with the dang critters. Catch - release, catch - release. Gross. One night I felt the cat jump up on the end of my bed and it woke me up. That is strange becaucse the dog does not let the cat sleep with us. I turned the light on and there is the cat is with a mouse in his mouth. I sceamed and had such a hissy fit that I scared the cat who promptly dropped the mouse in my bed. That was it for me. Next day I bought traps and poison. That was it for the cat too ... he never went after a mouse after that. You can trap and kill them all you want but they will just keep coming in one right after another until you find where they are coming in at and block it off. Having wild mice in your home is unhealthy. For humans and pets. Evict them. Serve them papers or Kill 'em BTT. Hunt them down and make them MOVE OUT . Ewwwwwww

Ugh, mice. They invaded - it's personal. Employ any weapons of mouse destruction available (poison, predators - owl, pussycat etc.) without feeling guilty - I don't.

Why didn't you just empty the container outside, BTT?! Huh? What's that you say?! I CAN'T HEAR YOU! I do this (empty container outside) whenever I find a bug, gecko, or any other living creature inside my home. Every living thing deserves a chance to survive! You seem to be a really self-centered sissy, BTT! Devoid of any compassion for the animal kingdom! Little_Ninja
