This is the Working in Threes Thread (W.I.T.)
EVERYONE IS WELCOME, especially if you've never posted before!
The guidelines are simple:
- Do some little thing to make your house less squalorous. - Do one more little thing. - Do another little thing.
Once you have 3 things done, post them here.
- Post the next 3 things you plan on doing. - Go forth and conquer, return and post again.
Remember - if you are tired or sick or injured or depressed or overwhelmed, you are in the right place!
If the next 15 minutes consists of:
- Looked at hopeless living room and felt like crying - Decided you could take empty pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Picked up fast food wrappers on coffee table and put them in trash
. . . YOU HAVE ACHIEVED THREE - DOM !!!
You could post:
Ta - Da's - Took pop can to kitchen - Put away phone book - Threw away McDonald's wrappers
Then your To - Do's: - Bring plates and glasses to kitchen - Put dirty socks in hamper - Bring folded towels to linen closet and put away.
Whether you do those three to-do's, or something completely different, once you've gotten 3, come back and post.
Remember to take breaks and drink water. Drinking water counts as a Ta-da!
If you can notice what the person before you did, it might cheer them up to hear from you.
Go forth, have fun, and be generous to yourself with the Ta-das. YOU DESERVE THEM!

Good morning! The word of the day at Chez Glow Worm is "unmotivated." I only have the house until about 2pm, and then the maid comes and I will be kicked out. However, this means I need to find the energy to declutter before she gets here.
Ta Da: 1. I'm up.
To Do: 1. Shower and dress 2. Attend work meeting by phone. Even though it's my day off. At least I don't have to put on work clothes and drive to the office for this meeting. 3. Morning pet routines

Good Morning Everyone! It's so good to see you all up and busy... I went back to bed. I need to get moving now. Tadas: Took dd to friends. Swish and swiped bathroom. Loaded dishwasher. Take shower and get dressed. Work 5 minutes in laundry room. (I'm lacking motivation, so if I can just do 5 minutes, that's enough for now!) Make list of stuff to get at store and go and get it!.

CatieCat, glowworm & merrymaid..........excellent progress!!!! I just got a call to go in to work and said YES!! Why did I do that on my day off? I'm really nuts. I didn't have to say yes. Now I'm regretting it. Wanted to get stuff done around here today. Also wanted to go around neighborhood and search for Molly - maybe dd will do it with her friend this afternoon. Well, at least I did do my morning checklist: Ta Da!! -20 mins on treadmill -showered and dressed -scooped and fresh food/water To Do: -take short walk down street and look for possible places where Molly might have gotten shut in -come back and pack up some healthy food to take to work -get dressed for work and go (reluctantly) Carrie

Nice work, Carrie and Syzygy!
Carrie, I do hope that Molly turns up soon.
It just started POURING rain here so the trip to the garden center that I was looking forward to, will have to be saved for another day. I have plenty of "inside" things I can work on.
Ta Da: 1. Got a couple of groceries for tonight's dinner and cleaning supplies for the maid 2. Sorted thru the entire pile of unread mile / clutter on my desk and opened/shredded everything that was obviously junk mail 3. Had lunch *bonus* Made marinade w/ groceries and chicken is soaking in it in the fridge
To Do: 1. Move pets to back bedroom in anticipation of visit from the maid (some of my critters have rather sensitive respiratory systems, so I put them in the spare room, where no chemicals are used) 2. Take a break! 3. Run errands when the maid gets here
Back this afternoon/evening.

I think this approach would suit me at the moment. Little and often, and trying not to get overwhelmed (though I am currently in squalor not just trying to avoid sliding back into it). I got home from work and did 15 minutes, and now I get to internet and eat my dinner - I filled a bin bag with rubbish
- I revealed the smallest of my kitchen surfaces
- I threw away lots of things I should have thrown away ages ago but have been hanging onto, not just obvious rubbish like empty containers but some old underwear (I don't need to try and de-cobweb it just because I found it, I have nice new underwear), and a dented baking tray.
I also found a little set of mini cookie cutters in all the letters of the alphabet. I didn't even know I had them. One of my dreams if my house was nice is that my baby half sister could visit and we could make cookies and do baking. To Do(To at least start with a second 15 minutes later) - Wash up everything I put in the washing up bowl when I cleared that little surface
- Hunt down my clothes and do a load of laundry
- Put the shelves back in the fridge, can't even remember why I removed them
(Oh - and put the bin bag out, for tomorrow mornings list). It is very nice (and inspiring) to see other people working at keeping their homes in order. Victoria J
