I will so free having less stuff to see and move and not use---I figured this out before my cancer but did not follow through until after the cancer---it is a wonderful feeling to get up in the morning and see the floor and counters and space -- I am home so much now that space is really important-- I am not going to look back though- just move forward and just knowing I have been moving is so freeing - the squalor is history-- less is more--hugs from Meme who keeps struggling to live free

Threw away several bags of clothes sitting on the loveseat - walked downstairs this morning and just saw the empty space and was sort of amazed!
Now if I can just see the top of my dining room table (piled up with stuff to take pics of to sell).

Dear One,
Today I am back online after a long time when my puter gave up a few weeks after my DH died at home on hospice.Your posting was the very first thing I read.
I wish I could hug you. I am beyond sorry to hear of your illness. I hardly have words, certainly not the right ones, if there are any right ones.
I am putting you on my prayer list & sending you my best wishes. It was incredibly sweet of you to share your wisdom about "stuff" when you have so much on your mind.
Much love, catcat

catcat -- 3g is on the other plane now. we've posted her message to us -- I reread it often.
"...it drags you down with it as it expands." worth rereading.

3G and Pony,
Thank you for your posts!
I live near San Bruno - the CA city that just exploded.
Now is the time to keep pushing forward cleaning out my fire-hazard home, and living again - with gratitude.
I hear you both loud and clear, thank you.

All the STUFF is not just unsightly, it is DANGEROUS as well. Not only does it block your escape route in the event of fire but it also poses a serious hazard to rescue workers & firefighters who are trying to help you. That was a lesson I learned when our house burned down. Not only was it hard to get OUT (because it is pitch black with no electricity (burnt wires) & the house full of smoke) but the firefighters trying to put it out could not even get to some areas & were in real danger of falling, getting crushed by stuff, or being blocked in. I just remember thinking how I would not be able to live with myself if MY STUFF caused injury or death to one of those firefighters. Yknow, it's one thing to endanger myself, but quite another to endanger someone whose sole job is to try & help me.

I just came back to the board and started reading posts...
Oh 3G, I remember you - my prayers are with your loved ones. Thank you for posting this in the midst... I'm sorry I didn't come back in time for you to hear that on this side.
May God keep you close.

I couldn't believe it when I hear about the explosion! Fire is one of the scariest things to face. I almost lost my life to fire/explosion and I did lose my daughter in the same incident. Keep, pushing MC. I am doing the same although my process is agonizingly slow. Like others, I come back and read this thread -- but not often enough. I keep thinking about the old adage about what would you grab if.... The only thing that makes any sense is to grab loved ones (people and pets) and your own a - - and GO. Stuff is only stuff. Even the sentimental stuff. If only I could deal with that mantra during my de-possessing --- Sort Cry Keep Donate Trash Cry Recycle File Keep Donate Indecision Cry..... It is complicated on so many levels. Hugs, Pony

3G, Dear friend,
Like Def6 asked, please tell my Mom and Dad that I miss them and love them.
I miss you so much, too.
Take care, angel.
Love, Pony

I am sorry about your health problems. Lots of {{{{{{hugs}}}}}} coming your way. For me my reality check was some of my family being evacuated from their homes because of Hillside fire. they had about 20 minutes to gather the important stuff and get out of their. They told me later that the importans stuff was the members of their families. They did grab photo's a change of clothes and such, but It helped me realize "what would I take with me if I only had 20 minutes to get out. The list was pretty small, so those are the things I am keeping besides the essentials of daily life.

The thread means a lot to a lot of people here, so it gets bumped up from time to time because so many people want to contribute to it.
