Hello all! Our member Glow-worm ( glowworm) had been coming up with fun challenges in the style of the ones that Illuminata ( illuminata) used to post on the prior forum. Glow-worm set a goal ... suggesting doing 30 fun-silly-inspiring challenges. Continuing to send love and support to Glow-worm .... and thanks for starting this series of fun challenges! She (Glow-worm) seems to be offline for now, but we can continue with the challenges. --------------------- Illuminata posted every day for thirty days in a row -- building up to a target date or event .... but I haven't been able to do that every day. ... so these "30 fun challenges" are being posted whenever I have the time. --------------------- List of all the "30 fun creative challenges"(from July-Sept 2008): takeonestepatatime.proboards.com/thread/1710
---------------------
And ... here's the new one (#24)This challenge is inspired by Illuminata's challenges from the old board.
Here's how this challenge works: Someone will give you a new word periodically, until we've done 30 threads.
Your challenge is to find something in or around your home that is related to that word, that needs to be picked up, organized, cleaned, thrown out, or otherwise desqualored.
Here are the rules:
Anyone and everyone is welcome to join us.
You are not required to complete every challenge to participate; feel free to pop in and out depending on your schedule.
If you decide not to participate, you are welcome to join in the thread to cheer others on.
In honor of the Equinox, today's word is SEASON !Do you have something in or around your home – relating to the word SEASON -- that needs to be cleaned, replaced, arranged, or thrown out?
Now's the time to do something about it!
Have fun and and choose your own ideas for this word. If you're stumped, here are some possibilities:
- You could organize/purge/store clothing by SEASON.
- You could organize/purge your SEASONINGS, spices, and herbs.
- You could put away, or set up, or purge/organize decorations from the previous or next holiday SEASON.
- Do you have S.A.D. (Seasonal Affective Disorder) ? You could get your Light Box cleaned up and turn it on ... or go outside and get some Natural Light !
- You could toss old calendars, arrange new ones.
- You could clean and oil and SEASON your cast-iron cooking pot.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cast-iron_cookware#Seasoning
- Is your pet about to enter the MATING SEASON (in heat)?
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Estrous_cycle You could take the opportunity to spay/neuter pets and prevent future squalor.
- You could deal with that old piece of SEASONED WOOD something ... that you had envisioned potential for ... but never used. Use/donate/toss.
- You could organize your family sports SEASON calendar -- and get the uniforms and equipment cleaned and placed in designated places in your home.
- You could plan for the opera SEASON, the ballet SEASON, the film SEASON, the concert SEASON, etc.
You can choose to enjoy an enriched life NOW, even if your home is still messy. Pick out party clothes, get them dry cleaned. Toss things that don't fit you anymore. - You could plan for the television SEASON. Fix your broken television recorder.
Just pick one small thing to change ... that's all !
Remember to have fun!
Rules are made to be broken. Creative variations of the word of the day are encouraged!
Good luck with today's challenge -- and remember to report back here when you're finished!
Remember: Variety is the Seasoning -- or Spice of Life !

Lioness, I looked for this challenge yesterday and thought, where is Lioness? Is she having fun on a Sunday, doing something she enjoys like dancing or out meditating under a tree? Maybe I should come up with challenge number 24, but I'll wait and see what she comes up with. I'm glad I waited.
Yesterday I seasoned the food in the crockpot to give it more taste. Today I need to throw out the food that sat in the crockpot overnight, and wash the crockpot. (The food tasted good by the way, but I made too much & did not refrigerate it when we were done with dinner.)
The fall season has really taken hold here. Leaves were falling quite abundantly yesterday. We opened the doors and windows to let the fall season air into our home and to air it out. That was also yesterday.
You mentioned television, which reminded me of our spider in the television situation last night. Apparently it's not uncommon as I did an internet search and found lots of people get spiders crawling around inside their large screen tv's and appearing on the inside of the screen. I attempted to kill a couple of spiders last night. Spiders are a part of the season, I think.
Regarding season and television, I have a task I need to get done today: email a photo to represent our nation of influence for the month of October to be included in the commerical.

- For the equinox, I sat outside and commemorated the sunrise, even though the weather was stormy and I couldn't see the sun with my eyes. I embraced the change in seasons. This experience helped to spice up (season) a day that would otherwise have been dull -- and therefore I had inspiration later to focus on some difficult paperwork. Today, I will throw away some seasonings (basil and cayenne) that are over 10 years old. I had thrown away some of it during my "Big Desqualorization of January 2008" ... but there is more left to toss. It's lost its flavor and needs to go. -

do I have permission to throw out the half bottle of hot sauce that turned up? I don't hot sauce, myself -- and the three friends I have had who do are not really friends anymore, besides which, they arent going to eat here. it's my house! why shouldn't I have things I like?
speaking of which -- even though I can't get there right now, there is a high cabinet in the kitchen with alcohol in it -- vodka? whatever. none of which I ever would touch . but for the mythical guests who are supposedly coming to swan around my studio apartment...
when the time comes -- mayhap i will heave-ho that s-- t too...

If you don't want to SEASON your food with hot sauce, then by all means, throw it out ! Yes, it's YOUR home! Stock your kitchen with the only things that YOU like ! -
