Yes, yes, yes angela! Thank you for the reminder, although I know you didn't intend to remind me of anything. Note to self: Sorting through bins/boxes and moving that stuff into file drawers and sorters is not REALLY EMPTYING bins, now is it? It's simply giving it a new home, albeit a more organized new home, but essentially just a new "bin." ! BUT, throwing away envelopes and junk mail from each of those boxes DOES count! Yea, me! Holy cow, Angela - that is a great idea! I could just tape up some boxes, slap on some mailing labels, take them to the Post Office, and ship this stuff off to one of my adult daughters! (I'm feeling very feisty!) They should be included in this sort and purge operation because some of it belongs to them, or did at one time, or is something of mine (or an ancestor) they insisted they wanted, or things I am POSITIVE they WILL want in the future! Ahem. Decorum on the board. Good on you for getting those boxes staged for good riddance!

Irisheyes oh yes, getting out of a box into it's proper home IS TOO emptying a bin or a box or a bag! Emptying a bag means that one now has less things in it than it did before. It is emptied when all of the things are out. But being emptied in the process. Like the grocery store bag gets emptied when it comes home and all the little yogurt containers, butter, and whatever else they put in there go into the fridge. The now empty bag now goes to to its place. Irisheyes, I am sure that your have the same number boxes as I do - more than 2 and less than 600. I got that handy dandy number from the dog Jake on Mist, Sheepdog Tales when he was talking about how many puppies he had. Nice to meet you here in the B thread!!! Well done!!

1rarebeautifuldove ! Good and valid point about appropriately filing away paperwork one should retain, and putting away groceries. Bins, boxes and bags emptied of CURRENT things is a great practice. Unfortunately, I keep too much old paperwork that I am sure most people would never keep. I am hopeful that, someday, I will be able to purge some of this that is beyond a certain date, and continue to do so as papers reach retention expiration. That mindset of thinking I may need it, or want to see it again someday, really trips me up. Meanwhile, I just keep the durn stuff. Dagnabbit. It is vexing to KNOW you should release some things, but be unable or unwilling to force yourself to do so, nevermind finding joy in the process. Shouldn't there be joy, or relief, or some other positive reaction to getting rid of things that truly are no longer necessary? Well, if nothing positive, the reward for doing so should be no negative reaction. I find it is helpful to me to read about others having positive experiences when they let things go to the rubbish bin, or donation center, or elsewhere. I believe this positive (vicarious) exposure, over time, will have a positive impact on me. If others can do it, that reinforces the "good" feelings about it, and hopefully, eventually, I can actually do much more of this with many more things, too. Oh! I did collect my office supplies, which seemed to have wandered and settled all over the house in various bins and boxes. I organized them into a few small boxes and small basket-type desktop bins, and they are mostly all together again, in an organized fashion, in/on my small desk and the adjacent bookshelf. That counts! ;-)

peaceandfreedom wow 7 hours! Well done! Bye Bye Blastedweeds!!!! Irisheyes - Giving things away for me does carry a reward, because I regard it as seed sown. In fact, the name of one my favorite thrift shop to donate things to is called Blessings. I am blessed so I am blessing others and being a blessing in the process. And I hope that the person who goes there and finds it will be blessed for having found this very thing in this thrift shop that they were wanting. Tossing things is a different matter. Where getting rid of things gets tricky for me is when it is part of a someday project and I am still wanting to do that project, even though the likelihood is very small. Like the doll clothes. But, if I can organize the fabric together with the patterns, along with the dolls. At least the project is now more organized. I did send a part of that project off though. And I still want to make the doll house. I haven't gone through any more boxes, and bins, and things like that. In the past couple days. I do need to get back on the road to Knobville. Because doing so will help the living room tremendously.

Well, today, I went into the master shower and emptied a bin. It only had one item in it. A piece of carpet remnant. I cut it down to manageable pieces and bagged it up. Three small and one a little larger bags later it was done and loaded into the car. I also decided to get the rolled up portion of another carpet remnant. On that rolled up section, there were 2 boxes. One was a cardboard box that I am very slowly going through of pens and other things from my mom's stash and dash of my things on a table.
The other was a pretty metal box with a lovely design on it. I opened it and there they were!!!!! My BATHROOM KNOBS that I brought with me from my Gram's hotel. These are old ceramic ones that when we were cleaning out the hotel of personal effects we found. There are three of them Hot, Cold and Waste. The fourth little knob in there was from some drawer from furniture. The Master Shower now only contains a kiddy pool, which I hope to send off on Trash Day. Two empty crate/bins. Two large pink plastic bins - one has a bedspread. The other a mattress pad. The mattress pad will be either used to help me make a cover for my Nutri Bullet. OR it will be donated. There is also a smaller pink plastic bin. I also found a large stainless mixing BOWL, in the Master Bath's Closet. Soon, that Bowl will be empty. Some of the things have been tossed already today. When I was removing what all I could to simply toss and filll Big Black trash Bags. So far, I have 3 filled Bags ready to go. and 5 more part way filled. I also found an entire Bag of things to donate. I saw a few other B things today. One was a Brand new Baby Bull and his Mama. Then his Papa - a Big Bull - walked up to have His pic taken too. I hope to send off at least 8 Big Bags of trash on Thursday.
