mouseanne great job on basement trips creativechaos great work on two big bags of weeds, yes, composting weed seeds just leads to more weeds seekingpeace good work on big bare box Last week i put out three black bags for trash pickup (dont know if i already posted that). Tonight i put out another black trash bag for pickup tomorrow. Emptied half a large bin, garden decorative stuff now in the garden on display. Filled half a lawn and leaf bags with weeds. I pruned the gingko tree that sprouted many tall shoots. The trimmings are in the driveway for now to dry a bit. Then they will hopefully fit in the lawn and leaf bag and i can drop that off. It was also severely infested with aphids or something. In other B news, my nesting family of Birds in my porch light has welcomed just Born Babies. I dont know how many, at least two. I dont want to disturb them by trying to look. I did hear them chirping today when i was coming in the house.

Unswamping...Baby Birds! How Beautiful! I've Baby Barn swallows in the nest around the light in the goat pen in the barn. It's been used every year for two decades now.
I've been uprooting those remaining Baby Burr Bushes I see popping up. I'm not 100 percent comfortable killing even burr bushes, but I have to weigh the uprooting against the irritation and discomfort all those burrs cause my goats. I'm actually looking into the benefits of Burr root as food and as a tonic. Using the root of the adult bushes may be a way to honor the goodness of the plant.

i love our b thread, unswampy! we had a nest of white crowned sparrows in the garden (on the ground) under some straw in one of my dahlia cages. some horrible end came to them - i think it was a rat. well, momma and daddy got right to it, built another nest in a bush - and there are 3 eggs! i am hoping rats won't find the little dears when they hatch out and that we will finally have baby birds and get to see them fledge. hoping, praying... another garbage bag of trash out of the car! yay! i think i am gaining on it a bit.

Great job creativechaos Unswamping seekingpeace mouseanne I have a big pile of boxes, bins and bags ready to go out to the car to go to the thrift shop. This morning I filled 2 bags of stuff from the hall closet and the craft room, then decided that the three clear plastic bins should go together. Even if that meant dumping their contents out on the table, in the craft room. I didn't quite dump it, but I did only remove things that were either maybe-s or keeps, for now anyway. Sometimes I just get so tired of looking at the stuff, I just want it gone. So on a few things, I just grabbed them and put them in the bin or bag. I will get these loaded. Grab the water bottles and get them filled too.

Today, a Beautiful Black swallowtail Butterfly decided to Bless my parsley plants with her Butterfly eggs. So very soon, I will get to talk about the cute Baby Butterflies (caterpillars who are crawling around and chewing up the parsley!) YAY!!! I have been believing for a Black Swallowtail to do this for me. I even bought her some fresh parsley!
Yesterday and this morning, 4 new Birds - tufted titmice - enjoyed my Bird Feeders! I have been hoping that they would find me! SO cute they are!

Oh baby birdies! How sweet!
I have baby swallows in the barn and the carport, and a baby pigeon coming out to get breakfast with papa in the mornings. I don't know much at all about pigeons but want to learn as they have set up residence in the barn.

angela - oh how nice! I am so happy for you that you have pigeons. Is it a papa and baby? His mate has started another batch of eggs? The father DOES make sure that his babies get food and will feed them once or twice a day. They will run up to him and flap their wings until he gives them something to eat. The baby will have a tell tale bit of down on its head. If the family have started another round of babies, the female sits on the eggs from 4 in the afternoon (or about that) until about 10 am. Then he will take his turn while she goes out to do things. I wish I had a pair of pigeons show up randomly.

Yesterday's B's were 2 bathing suit tops that just didn't look right this year. I had worn them 2 years ago. But this year, they just didn't look all that nice. So, into the donate pile they went.
This morning I filled a grocery store bag with trash.
Yesterday, also I bought at Lowe's 8 Baby Black Swallowtail Butterflies.

1rarebeautifuldove you can buy butterflies at lowes? obviously im not shopping in the right aisles. Great job on letting go of bathing suits. Today i emptied a laundry basket of stuff that has been sitting in it for quite a number of months. All non clothing items which were put away in their homes.

Baby birds here, too. Violet green swallows, almost ready to leave the nest. Cute little heads peeking out at the big world outside.
Then, a sad situation. A male violet green swallow who has been mourning for a long time. Something must have happened to the female and eggs or babies. Have seen this behavior (mourning) some years ago one other time too. My heart just aches for him. Every morning he comes and sits up on the wire in front of where the birdhouse is that he was connected to. Have not yet gotten out the ladder to look in the house to see what might be in there that didn't make it. Sad.

peaceandfreedom - So sad for the little guy. Unswamping - yes, look at the dill plants or the parsley plants. These were on the dill. And I bought all the plants with caterpillars on them. And yes, you would only want it if they can safely eat it. These were 4th Instar. Between them and the butterfly that came and laid eggs on my parsley plant, I am releasing about 30 Black Swallowtail Butterflies. Today just one big female black swallowtail. But Sunday there were 5. Saturday I think 9.. Not sure now. But there are about 10-12 more in chrysalis.
